My Parents

Postby Mr. SmartyPants » Fri Oct 01, 2004 3:49 am

okay, so i woke up in the middle of the night, hearing my mother shouting at my dad (not a loud shout. It's not like a battlecry or anything, but you could tell they were somewhat mad at each other) becasue apparently he as some drinking problem. I have never seen him drink a lot, When I worked at the store with him, the most he ever had was a cup or two. Maybe a bottle. Anyway, please pray for my dad so that he doesn't have a drinking problem. And my mom so she can lower her anger and her stress. k thanks a lot

I'll defintely pray.

The choice has been made. There's no looking back. I won't let up, back up, give up, or shut up. My focus clear. My path is straight. My God, reliable. I'm a disciple of Christ.

Gods plan is like the sun. its too big and bright to look at directly, and sometimes the rain clouds cover it, but sometimes the plan dapples through the clouds and we can see beautiful glimpses of what he has in store for us.

Alcoholism runs in my family.
My brother is an alcoholic, also I never realized untill I was an adult that my father was an alcoholic my whole childhood.

I will pray for you and your family.

Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.

I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

I've seen a family that was like that. I will keep your parents in prayer.

Life is not about us using God for our purposes, but about Him using us for His purposes.

Faith is not creating a false reality, but acknowledging God's promises for us.

The dreams I dream for you
Are deeper than the ones your clinging to
Let the old dreams die
Like stars that fade from view
And take the cup I offer
And drink deeply of the dreams I dream for you

Besides, we told ourselves to listen to this guy...

i will most definately pray. i know what you're going through. my dad would sit in front of the stupid tv and drink at least a whole 6pack of beer. he was not a nice man then out of the blue he stopped but he still has a 24 case in the closet but it is untouched and i know this as a fact. when he gets mad he threatens us that he'll start to drink again. i hate that! even though he doesn't drink he seems like he's really falling from the Lord. it's really sad.

"The advice I like to give young artists, or really anybody who’ll listen to me, is not to wait around for inspiration. Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close[/color]
