i loved this movie, if you think deeply into it, its really cool

although it is pretty confusing

*shaking*....yes...I have :wow!:

It was good but it scared me too much! :waah!:

Oh, um, well I'll see if I can help you in the briefest way possible (Okay are you ready for this?) :
Samara, the ghost girl, was the daughter of this couple some years back before the present time of the movie. However, the husband didn't want the child (Samara) so he mistreated her--he kept her locked away in a barn with some horses (which explains the whole deal with the horses that's mentioned here and there in the movie). Anyway, her mother had like 70 abortions or something like that but Samara is the only child she gave birth to. The mother wanted Samara but she wanted to please her husband as well.

So one day, the mother took Samara out in the woods to a well. Hang on, I need a moment...(It was quite sad :sniffle: ) Okay proceed.

Anyway, so the mother crept up from behind and stabbed Samara, which caused her to fall into the well. However, Samara was still alive, and when she came to all she could see was the lid of the well being slid back into place.

Poor Samara :sniffle:...she couldn't get out! :waah!: The well was like 15 to 20 feet deep and she couldn't climb up on anything. She survived in that well for 7 days, which is why she says that over the phone--her victims only had 7 days to solve her puzzle before she came to get them.
So yeah, that's what was up with her. I hope I answered you're question after doing all that talking
I thought I remember the mother putting a plastic bag over Samara's head and pushing her in. I didn't think she stabbed her... Well, maybe I'm wrong...? o.O
There was a thread about this a while ago, and it became all about The Ring vs. Ringu (the Japanese and original verson). IMO, The Ring was better. I haven't abtually seen Ringu, but I've heard things about it.

I loved The Ring! Scary movies are awesome! I love watching them at night. Afterwards, when I lay in bed awake at night, I can always calm down thinking that none of it was real and God is here to protect me. That's how I can handle watching scary movies at night. There need to be more movies as scary and thrilling as The Ring!

I've heard of Ringu, and I also heard that it was even scarier :wow!:

Ha, I can't say the same thing Lunis:

A few words that Griff actually said in a prayer after watching "The Ring"

EDIT: oops, I guess this needs spoiler brackets

...And Lord, I know that it's just a movie. But Lord, please don't let Samara crawl out of the tv and get me!...

I watched "Ringu" and "The Ring." "Ringu" had me laughing a bit, as well as the kids. I'm not sure if it's the fact we had already seen "The Ring" a few times or not. Our copy of the DVD "The Ring" is actually my daughter's copy - she made me watch the movie, cause I'm usually a chicken:eyeroll: . However, "The Ring" is way scarier than "Ringu" but it gets less scary the more you watch it. Try watching the scary scenes in rewind.

Anyways, it is probably my favorite scary movie next to "The Others." I like when movies are tense and scary, but not gory. Gore gives me nightmares.

YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

There's a "The Ring" manga.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I thought this movie was pretty scary... and really funny too. It was just sort of silly and over-the-top.

The 'deadly movie' was the scariest part, I thought. that and
dad's suicide. freakin' crazy.
I think I'm the only one that didn't get massively freaked out by this movie o_o it was entertaining but not scary.

I read the manga before I saw the movie...maybe that's why I wasn't scared.

The Ring was an awesome movie in theaters, and I loved it the first time I watched it, but the second time I watched, I couldn't make it through the whole movie. I don't know why I ever liked it now.

We thought Samara was the guys girlfriend cause at the end she was in the building at the same time . . .
Also we thought the horse either couldnt see or smell her or whatever cause she was already affected by the video or it just got the crazy horse disease . . .

I haven't seen the movie, but I read the manga (actually I skimmed it), and I was still a bit freaked. I can't take scary movies. I can take gore, but not really scary stuff. :/

The Ring was hardly scary for me, since my friends and I talked a lot. Well, they went on a certain "rotten website" which there was no way I'd go on. A scary movie was more than enough! Only actual thign that scared me was the video tape. The odd images creeped me out more than the whole movie did^^ Seriously, I REALLY don't see how Samara crawling out of the TV would be scary!

I remember watchign the movie over again and my friend was laughing when the TV smacked the girl and made her fly into the well. "It's so fake!" he said. His girlfriend screamed but it was actually pretty funny slap-shot thing. I still wanna see Ringu though. Images of Sadoko with no fingernails and the DVD cover of the movie with her eye... yup, definatley looks more scary!

BTW anyone seen the commercial for The Ring's sequel? I knew they were going to make "The Ring 2" but I wonder why they changed the title to "The Grudge"? It's obvious if you seen the first movie, but it took me the whole commercial to see if it really WAS the sequal. It sure was odd though. The woman came to a house and she was like "It's been a while." There were random seens of Samara lurking around and crawling down stairs. Remidns me of The Exorcist. Never seen it, but my friends thought the scariest part was when the girl crawled down the stairs backwards. :/ Reminded me of that. Then there was some random kid that meowed! Seriously! Website for this movie was something like "doyouhaveagrudge.com" or something :/ Any more info on this if it really is the sequel?

EDIT: Looked it up and they are both two different series. Apparently the "ghost girl that curses people and kills them unless you do something to stop it" is a popular horror theme in Asia. Still, movie looks more freaky than The Ring. Watch a trailer and see^^
