Yet another FF7 spin off?

Yet another FF7 spin off?

Square's really going to milk FF7 dry....

http://www.gamespot.com/news/2004/09/15/news_6107494.html

So, let's see... we have Advent Children, which I am looking very much forward to, ....a Cell phone FF7 spin off? I kid you not. .....and in this third FF 7 sequel for the PS2 were you play as Vincent. Yeah, that's cool in all, but I'm kinda' getting tired of Square's little "adventures" they've been making in the past few years after FFX.

I mean, FF X-2, FF XI, FF: CC, and FF: Tactics Advance have been really short shots of their previous works. Especially story wise. None of those four games I listed have a mentionable story.

Hopefully, FF-XII will pull Square back on track. Time will tell.

I say enough with the spin-offs and sequels. They need to focus their energy in REMAKING the original FF7 already.

Oh, sorry, but I really disagree with you. ^v^ I am very excited for everything except for Cell-Phone Game "Before Crisis" Because I don't have a cell phone/not allowed. I wouldn't like paying to play a game each time, to. On a cell-phone.

p.s. I really like Final Fantasy Tactics Advance. ^-^

 RoyalWing beat me in saying everything I was going to say. But I hope Square doesn't start relying on sequels. =/ They're good, but only to a certain extent. And after FFX-2, I'm a tad skeptical.

I like the idea of movie sequels, but not game sequels. It just doesn't fit the FF motif. However, I'm not against remakes. I think it would be awesome to have FFs VI and VII remade for PS2.

I quite liked Tactics too. It's a change from their normal style which I welcomed.

Remakes of the games beneath but including VII (real remakes, not just rereleases with a few added features) would rate highly in my book. I think it would be very nice to see old characters with much nicer graphics and perhaps better gameplay. Perhaps Final Fantasy VI has the best rationale for doing this: it has a good story, but comparatively obsolete graphics.

I'm not too hot on the cell phone game either. I wouldn't mind a sequel to seven, so long as they didn't screw it up like they did with X-2. Sorry, but I just did NOT like the sphere job system in it. I didn't really mind Tactics Advance, though it simply does not hold a candle to the original Tactics or most of the other FF games. Crystal Chronicles? Garbage.

I'm not sure I'm too hot on twelve, either. If you've read anything, apparently you only control ONE character, and give the others orders and the AI controls them for you (like .hack, which I also didn't like). So I may not be buying twelve after all...

The games I'd really like to see remade are:

Tactics, of course. I've played through it twenty times and I STILL don't understand the storyline.

Six. I love Terra Shadow and Mog! They deserve a remake!

Four. And y'know, make Cecil's quest to become a paladin MEANINGFUL. Up until he became a paladin, he struggled because he wasn't really a bad guy, but then he became a paladin and he had like no inner struggle for the rest of the game. Well, the whole thing with what's-his-name, Golbez or whatever, but that wasn't enough. P.S. Kain rocks!

*Nods in agreement* I'd buy a PS2 just to see Edgar and friends escaping on chocobos. (That scene was sooo cool!) Back in the dark days my of using emulators, VI was my favorite. I should procure the PS1 version, then cross my fingers for a remake on PS2.

To be honest, I'm getting tired of the popularity of the Final Fantasy series in general. It's sickening to see people go crazy over spin-offs, movies, and whatever else Square can think of to sell.

Then again, I prefer action rpgs to the turn-based variety (and yes, I have heard the rumors that FFXII will be an action rpg :P ).

LOL
I like Final Fantasy, but if they do a sequel or remake I hope they do it good. I like FF7 the way it is and hope they don't ruin it too much. Most time sequels (similar story, different numbered FF dont count as sequels cause of diff char and story lines . . .) dont add up to much . . .
