what do you all think of the Ngage? Do you think it will knock out the GBA?

Well, there are just TOO MANY games on the GBA to ignore it... But, nokia bought out part of sega, so we won't be seeing any more sega stuff on Gameboy, does that change anyone's plans? The Ngage has PS1 calibur graphics, but only on cartridge (unlike the new GB system that's coming out, which will be micro-DVD like the Gamecube!) so it won't live up to it's power due to the media format (much like the N64, with few exceptions such as Zelda)

So what do you all think of it? I don't plan on getting one unless Konami joins in, they are my deciding factor (either that, or Square-enix... but only if they make a kickbut game for it)

Sony's handheld that may be in the works, however...

Oh, and whatabout the mini-box or whatever it's going to be called? I bet it will probably be the LARGEST of the handhelds, hehehehehe...

NGage?

Honestly, it sucks.

GMR Mag ripped it apart, but good (which is kinda bad since GMR is a tie-in with EBGames).

The demo units at the store don't work.... the system has to be taken apart to put a new cart in (no external game slot)... if you use the phone features you have to hold the system edge-ways you talk/listen against the thin edge of the system)... most of the games as reviewed by GMR ran slow, many without sound.

The designers should be shot.

Sony might have a shot, but this is one area where Nintendo stands strong I think.

Even if the system bombs, it will probably take at least a year until no more are made, and that means all sega games in production for GBA are gone, and no more can be started until then, meaning we may not see any more sega games on GBA at all...

I mean, Sega on GBA was like a monumental occasion for Game players...

I do hope that the first micro-dvd based handheld will have solid 3d capabilities... Like, maybe 64 bit with stats approaching Dreamcast in any case... Or, (cross your fingers) maybe even PS2/X-box/GC calibur! That would be nice!

GMR while I no longer trust them over an issue they were in left field on...there article had an interesting comment about the Ngage...that it was the Gigli of video games..lol. I think its overpriced....and not that many people give a hoot about hand helds anymore...Shrug, I never have...but I suppose there is a crowd out there...Lets just put it this way...if I was a gaming company I would not want to touch Sega...they seem to be lepers in the gaming field. It seems like there are some misconceptions here with SEGA and the N-Gage. N-Gage only bought out part of Sega.com and their technology (stuff for online games and stuff like that). It has nothing to do with SEGA making games on GBA. SEGA is still producing GBA games.

I'm not too interested in the N-Gage either. The GBA has more and better games. Did you know that the GBA Super Monkey Ball has more levels than the N-Gage version and stuff that the N-Gage version doesn't have like multiplayer? I heard that most of the 2D games on N-Gage are lacking compared to the GBA versions (Sonic N doesn't even have the extras of the GBA Sonic Advance, including multiplayer). Also, I have my doubts about Tony Hawk for the N-Gage being as good as the GBA versions (the GBA versions have polygonal skaters and run at smoother framerates than the PSX Tony Hawks). Also, with games like the ports of the SNES mario games and SMB3(yes, I know, but they still rock), Metroid Fusion, Megaman Zero, the Megaman Battle Network series, Castlevania: Aria of Sorrow, Advance Wars 2, awesome GB/GBC games like Zelda: Link's Awakening, Zelda: Oracles, Super Mario Bros. DX, Donkey Kong (not Land, but the one where you control Mario), Metal Gear Solid (yes, there is a GBC Metal Gear Solid and it rocks), and more on the GBA, I doubt that the N-Gage can even hold a candle to the GBA.

I would like to hold a candle to N-Gage...after it is soaked in oh say...oil...or gasoline. Snicker.

Geez, what's up with all the haters? I do plan on getting an N-Gage QD. (the new model which fixed a lot of the old one's problems) I'll probably get one next year, after my b-day. That is unless they decide to make an N-Gage 2 next year. Then I don't want to waste my money if there's something better just around the corner.

well, don't blow your money on something you haven't played, TrigunX89. Go test it at Gamestop or somewhere. I mean, NGage is crap. Just LOOK at it. It's ugly. It's clunky. The controls are awkward. It has Tomba and Tony Hawk and that's about it. GBA has Advance Wars, FF:Tactics Adv., Fire Emblem, Tony Hawk (but not Tomba, 'cause Tomba is t3h suck). Here's a quarter, go buy yourself a GameBoy Pocket. At least you can play Pokemon (which rocked btw).

Actually, Nintendo DS will use an SD-esque memeory card for games on the DS. It'll hold around 128MB, and its quality will be just above the N64's. Its average framerate should be around 60 FPS. Look on the Nintendo homepage for more information.

Ahh yes, but you forget that the GBA isn't a phone. ;)

Have you seen the new N-Gage model? It looks much better, IMHO. And I have seen & tried it. Check out some user reviews by people who have actually bought them.

I think the QD might actually find itself a niche market if they actually get some good games out on it. It's not going to overthrow the GBA or the PSP, but in this multitasking world, a good cell phone/game console could actually make it, especially if they take serious advantage of the phone capabilities for online play. I know there is some with the Ngage, I just don't know all the details about it.

Of course, there are few things harder to lose then a bad reputation, which the first version got very quickly.

There is said to be over 50 games by the end of the year. I really want the upcoming Elder Scrolls game for it. Anyways, what everyone has said here is pretty true. I don't really want a DS though. I know the N-Gage is never going to be as big as the DS or PSP, but I still would like one for a phone with some cool games, if only even a few.

Actually, TrigunX89, if you've been paying attention to the gaming forum, you'd know that the DS is supposed to have cell phone capabilities.

Anyway, N-Gage's selection of games leave a LOT to be desired, in fact I have yet to see a single halfway-decent game on it. Especially since the screen is so poorly utilized in the games...the Sonic game ESPECIALLY. I'm quite happy with my GBA, actually. If you want a cell phone with good games, a lot of 'em come with Snake, Tetris...y'know, GOOD games.

yep, Voice over IP (using a headset.) for the Nintendo DS. Not exactly as convienent as having a cell phone(need to be in a Wi-Fi hotspot), but you don't need to pay monthly to use it.

Sorry, I haven't been too active in this forum. Well, I'm just sorta ticked off with Nintendo and their handheld domination is all. I really don't want a DS much. The dual-screens don't do much for me, and I'd rather have an actual phone anyway. Can the DS receive calls from ordinary phones as well?
