Yeah, I'd be inclined to agree that he wasn't a professional either. He was a member of AA for a while (I *think* I was never actually able to be sure that he was the same christianotaku) and just stopped posting after about 3 posts or so. Apparently he got bored and just stopped, he never really did anything more than annoy at AA, so we never had to do anything, esp. since he stopped posting on his own. I would think a pro would have kept at it and gotten bad enough to notice.

My only gripe about him was that he was using an avatar made from a picture that was submitted to an anime angels art contest, and I really don't think that he was the person who drew it, but since I couldn't ever be sure, and since I didn't know if the artist gave him permission, I never mentioned it.

just my two cents :jump:

Excuse me? Why did you ban one of our first non-Christian members for doing nothing more than being honest about himself? :sniffle:

I'm disgusted. Absolutely disgusted. :waah!:

Ok, about Yaoi_Shonen.
I would hope everyone would know by now he wasn't being banned for saying something anything bad. He was banned because he came on quite proud of being Bi and was quite clear in his hatred for those that did not agree with it...(his comments about gay marrage). Steve and I both sent him emails and pm's about what was done, explaining that we loved him and that I hated to do what we did, but felt it best for the entire community.
If the Holy Spirit is guiding him, he will take our words right and hopefully find Jesus. We have to remember that if the Holy Spirit is not guiding someone to salvation, all the words in the world will do nothing.
It was a judgement call we made--a very tough one at that--based on what we judged his nature for being on board to be and what we thought best for the community.
I want you guys all to know how heavy a burden this places on my heart...I just cannot put it into words. But I did as always, what I felt to be right, and that's how it shall remain.

I just hope you noticed the potential gravity of your decision. You have basically taken someone's spiritual life on yourselves, which is dare I say even worse than taking a physical life on yourself.

I would request that this ban be reconsidered and that we both show him a little true caring and mercy-not a quick finger on the ban button and our personal disgust.

Otherwise, you may have regrets.

And Like I PM'd you...I take this very very serious...so for you to act like we are trigger happy...kinda angers me. This ban is final...and we would appreciate some support during this nasty time...for you to be hurling rocks at the staff right now hurts, and does not make our jobs any easier. He was not banned out of any personal disgust...and as has been said a few times now...He was asked to leave because he embraced and was happy in his lifestyle...which is his choice...but not something we need to let go on CAA. Need I remind you...not trying to sound elitest in the slightest, stands for Christian Anime Alliance...a group founded by Christians to shine a light into the world of anime....

It seems that YS wanted more to flaunt his alternative lifestyle than function as a member of a community. It's a double edged sword, really. It was a great opportunity to minister, but as the Word says, "a little leaven leavens the whole lump." The chance of the latter happening was a lot greater than the former.

That's exactly what our mindset was, St. Peter. I'm glad you picked up on it, and of course we appriciate the backing.

"A little leaven leavens the whole lump" refers to professed Christians leading Christians to sin through example, not to the presence of outright nonbelievers. If YS was professing to be Christian, I would have totally agreed with this ban.

Anyway, there's nothing that can be done now, and I'm sorry if I sounded too offensive. -^.^- I just think this was a really big mistake. :waah!:

In that case how do you witness to anyone whose morals you disagree with?
The scientific method," Thomas Henry Huxley once wrote, "is nothing but the normal working of the human mind." That is to say, when the mind is working; that is to say further, when it is engaged in corrrecting its mistakes. Taking this point of view, we may conclude that science is not physics, biology, or chemistry—is not even a "subject"—but a moral imperative drawn from a larger narrative whose purpose is to give perspective, balance, and humility to learning.

If YS had wanted to be witnessed to, I doubt he would have flaunted or been so open about the things everyone knows Christians are against (homosexuality, buddhism, etc.). To me, he came here to stir up trouble, not to ask questions about salvation.

Apology accepted, Millyfan. Just try to understand where the administration is coming from as well. You don't think we'd like to see the lost saved to? And it's never, ever fun no matter what the circumstance is to ban someone.

I saw this one coming this morning, when I logged on for a little bit. I really don't know what I would have done if I was in your place. You were definitely stuck between a rock and a hard place, Ash. I mean, I know for sure that he'll think that we are like the other Christians that he met and assume we hate him and are judging him, but I don't know what else we could do. I think you did the right thing.

Or how this all works out

It isn't very polite to badmouth someone behind his back after he is banned with no recourse unless it is obvious the person *asked for it* with something like spamming or obvious and flagrant trolling.

Gossiping about/badmouthing someone banned on the grounds mentioned for YS's ban is not fair at all, and even if the ban was/is fair and just, is an unnecessary addition to it.

So could we please have an end to this thread before that starts en masse? Thank you. -^.^-

Excuse me, but what grounds are you accusing us on? I see no gossip about him going around, certainly not badmouthing. There's a difference between talking maturely about a situation and why it was dealt with, and running a smart mouth like "ha ha serves him right, dang buddhist" sort of comments. I think everyone here is more than mature enough to know the difference.

Millyfan...I have been more then patient with you. You lashed at the staff because you did not agree with our decision, now your acting as if you own the place...running your mouth about what we should and should not do. Not one person was gossiping about anyone....we have left this open so that members can comment and express themselves (as you have thrown your 2 cents in what, 4 times now?) Also last time I checked you do not pay a red cent to be on this site...so remember that before you start telling us what threads to close. Other then your flame every 10 posts or so this thread has been mature and again, other then your posts, been positive to the mods and Admin during this ordeal. Now for the last time...yes, we all know your miffed about what happend...but move on. We are not going to undo our choice...and do not think that making up problems where there are none will close a legitament thread. Consider yourself warned Millyfan.
