School Water... CLEAN or NOT CLEAN?!?!?

Postby Linksquest » Sun Sep 05, 2004 6:57 pm

This is a question that has been bothering me for quite sometime now, and only came up today at chruch when i realized when i filled my water bottle up with the water fountain water there, and the water was yellow. At my school the water is always an unearthy color... actually thats just my problem... it HAS an earthly color... from lemon yellow, to chocolate black! I was wondereing if i am the only CAA member out there who has strange water at his school?

As a rule of thumb, I NEVER drink water from a public fountain. (Sinks and faucets are worst) You're better off bringing your own water to school. Soda fountains are okay.

My school's water seems fine to me. It's probably just that the water in that area isn't so great.

My high school had clear water that tasted way too much of chlorine. That's how the whole city was, though.
The only time I had brownish water was when i was hiking and we had to purify water with those iodine tablets. Then we added Country Time lemonade mix so it tasted good anyway. Plus, we oculdn't see how gross the water looked, with that orange tint and floating things in it. ^_^

Brown water from the faucets would worry me, though...

Hmm, it's been a while since I've had a sip of water from a school fountain, but I don't remember drinking anything that was intolerable.

At my first college it tasted chalky. At the second one, closer to home, it just tastes like tap water.

I usually drink filtered or bottled water.

Bottled water is not neccesarily any cleaner or purer than regular tap water. In fact some bottled water is probably worse than tap water due to more lax regulations. From what I've read brands like Aquafina are just derived from municipal tap water. So basically from what I understand they are just selling you what you get from your facet for a buck.

In my university, the water quality can be exceptionally nasty, depending on the seasons. For example, during summer, much maintenance goes on and so I would never drink the water then <--- icky brown >_<

Now in my apartment (which is part of the university as well), we have too much calcium as well. So, in general, I rarely drink the water on campus, unless I have no choice and am terribly dehydrated. I bring my own water or buy something like Gatorade.

Well, if sickly white is a NORMAL water colour, then the water is great...and there's like...only one fountain that even works in my school, so you have to be really desperate. There are vending machines all over though ~ and they're always full of water (although the Ginger Ale has been replaced by Diet Coke and the label hasn't changed...I fell for that one TWICE)

It depends on what fountain you use at our school. The gym's are by far the cleanest, and coldest, but it still has a slight yellow tint to it. So I usually bring my own.

I've heard that bacteria growth is insanely high on pubilc water fountains....so I tend to stay away from them as much as is humanly possible.

At my school the science rooms are the worst. All that comes out of the taps is yellow water that smells terrible! Alot of kids in my class are convinced that it is urin reincarnate. I think... thats disgusting. :shady:

I must say that the water conditions at public schools are horrible. Which is why I don't drink much of it unless I'm really thirsty and need some water. The school I just transfered out of had decent water, but I'm not so sure about the school I'm going to now, seeing how its only funded by the US Army.

The city water is terrible here and my dad doesn't want us drinking it. The water at one of the private schools I went to was from the well and it smelled like rotten eggs. *puke*

I tried never to drink it, but it didn't always work.

=/ The water that spouts from my school's drinking fountains is either a milky white or a milky white-blue, and my friend got mono from drinking from one (though I think that's more the fountain's fault than the water's) so I tend to stay away from them as much as I can.
