After much though I've decided that to change my avatar. And reveal my real name and who I am.

You know what? My pastor has been saying the same thing--kinda'. She said we are not our occupations, but Christians that happen to be doing the things we do...er, something similar anyway.

Um, as for the avatar, ^_^ I'm just gonna' stick with mine since my mom would be upset if I put anything personal on--because of all the junk going on around the internet.

(on a sidenote, I think your signature is hilarious!!!)

Ohhh... :o So that's what the new look is all about. That's a nice thought Volt. Umm,... okay I'll be back with more to say  Can't think of anything more intelligent to say right now, have to go organize thoughts :eh:

Umm, well, I support your change Volt, and I am very happy for it. ^v^ Although my favourite avatar you used, was the Spider-man one. It was very funny! But there are mainly three reasons why I will not follow you (sorry...):

1) My parent's wouldn't like it.... they would probably punish me if they found I was posting pictures of myself all over the place. They would be very concerned about my security, and I am concerned about that too~

2)I think it's fun and cute to use characters to identify each other! ^-^

3) The most important: Showing to use your real name and picture makes me see that you, Volt, are very sure of yourself! You don't mind who you are and are very open... But, I'm not like that yet... I am very unsure of myself and how I look, act, and I am very closed... so... I won't take the step you've taken.

Um, I am very sorry, if you think this is negative. I guess you can just ignore this~

I chose my first avatar because Ruri reflected an unexpressed side of my personality. To a certain extent, having her up has allowed me to really see that as part of me. Smart people are awsome, even that means that sometimes they just spend time reading or something and nobody else is interested in what it is. I like my introverted side, even if I really do need to get involved in something so that I can get to know more people because simply going to class isn't enough. I don't have to be really extroverted. I just have to be me and be who God wants me to be.

Ruri: from Martian Successor Nadisco, the science officer aboard the Nadesico, young, smart, serious, not always fitting in, great except: "...but then we're all idiots." I need to not sometimes try to call myself an idiot as a means of avoiding forgiving myself for not being perfect.

I really like my new avatar. I think it reflects a lot of who I am. I think the elf girl in the picture looks smart, maybe a little scholarly. She is an elf-see elf thread. I like elves. See my who's who thread. She is pretty. It's a cheerful picture without being in-your-face bubbly.

I don't always see myself as pretty, but more often I have struggled more with issues of competence. I went from almost all A's and a B in something to too many C's in college. I'm smarter than that and if something like an avatar picture helps me to believe it, then I like that avatar picture. I really can do a lot, even though I waffle on how strongly I feel about it. Giving up sucks. If I were Miss America, it would do little to change what I think of myself. What I really want is to change the world one day-have for 15 years.

I am glad that you have decided to share more information about yourself with us. I'm sure that took a lot of courage.

I might change my avatar at some point in the future, although my picture has already been posted for all to see in the "Post Your Pic" thread. I may reveal my real name at some point, although I can't really say that I am "hiding behind an identity" with my username, because my current SN contains part of my real name ;) .

I try to be myself at all times, including the time that I spend online. Hopefully I succeed in that, although I will admit that I am somewhat introverted in person (not as much as I used to be, but I'm still not the talkative type).

Perhaps I will reveal my name (at least my first name) in the future, but if I did it now it just wouldn't be very original, now would it? :P

I wouldn't assume that most people have this problem. It might be something you need to do, but I don't. I like my wolf avatar just fine.

The way I see it, the way I look in real life is not "who I am" anyway. It's just what I look like. And even that changes sometimes. I'm sure you're not always the airbrushed bishie in your avatar -- you have bad hair days like the rest of us, right? (Sorry, it's just that your avatar reminds me of a Calvin Klein model or something. A candid shot might be more appropriate for the ideal you're espousing here.)

Anyway -- A picture of me is not going to tell people anything about the inner me. My wolf avatar does. It says that I love nature and I identify with wolves. Here on the internet, that says more than a photo of myself.

My opinion.

Interesting change of 'identity' Volt

So, is this permanent or are you going to eventually go back to game/anime avatars? Pesonally, I prefer using avatars of fictional characters because it's fun. And for the younger members here, (especially women) it is best to not give out too much personal information. But, if God puts it on your heart, then go for it!

I am very unsure of myself and how I look, act, and I am very closed... so... I won't take the step you've taken.

I can identify with you there... I used to feel the EXACT same way when I was 14, but the truth is, almost always, nobody's going to judge you because of how you look. Trust me on this. Don't worry about how you look and act. The important thing is to act confident and sure of yourself.

Well I use my Piro avatar because Piro reflects me alot. Those are interesting views there though Volt. I don't see as using an avatar as idolizing. Unless you make people bow down and worship your avatar as a God or something which is silly. But I do agree that our hobbies and occupations should not define us or let people define us by them.

Also we should not let them make us define ourselfs. God created us not our hobbies or occupations. If anything we should try to reflect God in our lives as much as possible.

I think that what you've done Volt is a good thing. If you felt that you were hiding behind something then I think that what you did was very brave. ^^,

Me on the other hand.....I have no intention of changing. I do give people permission to call me Teej. It's shorter.....plus it's an actual nickname of mine...so Bakura_fan or Teej will do. ^_^

I think my new avatar fits me fine. See that look? *points to av* That is the look I get about 20 times a day. I'm constantly confused or perplexed about something. See the bandage on the hair? I can't get through one day without hurting myself in some way. :eyeroll: It's sad. Oh...also...notice that it's bakura's good side....to me....that reminds me that I am kindhearted....and the chibiness reflects my thoughts. I love thinking like a kid and because I never went to highschool *homeschooled* my mind has not been corrupted by whatever might go on in highschool *dragonboy says that's a good thing* So....I think my avatar explains me pretty well. Oh yeah....my user name....*looks at it* Need I say more? ;)

If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work. All the best ideas come out of the process; they come out of the work itself. Things occur to you. If you’re sitting around trying to dream up a great art idea, you can sit there a long time before anything happens. But if you just get to work, something will occur to you and something else will occur to you and something else that you reject will push you in another direction. Inspiration is absolutely unnecessary and somehow deceptive. You feel like you need this great idea before you can get down to work, and I find that’s almost never the case." - Chuck Close

hah this is interesting...

If this makes you feel more comfortable being open, that's fine. For everyone else, I don't think Volt really intends for you all to do the same. ^__^ BTW, cool real name, Volt. But I'll just stick to Volt since I'm used to it..hehe

I never really had any second thoughts about my avatar and sign name though. First, my SN is what ppl call me in real life even if it's not my real name. Secondly, my current avatar is (and future ones will be) really just a chibi version of myself. So I guess I feel very much like myself in CAA. XD

Well, this and my profile pic pretty much say that I like gals who kick... you know what I mean.;) I'm a very strong person in both faith and I feel very secure that I could take care of myself in other ways, as well. YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.
