I know how this is. I have a close guy friend who just decided one day he doesn't believe in God. He, too, likes to "cry on my schoulder" and tell me everything that's going wrong in his life. But just because my friend and your friend "don't believe in God", doesn't mean we have to sit back and keep our mouths shut about God.
Whenever he comes to me with problems, I hear him out (which is really important, and you're obviously doing this right. So, um, good job.). Once he's told me everything he wants to spill, I just ask "Do you want to know what I think?" or "Do want me to give you advice." Which he does. Then I give him biblical advise. Afterall, who knows better than God how to handle problems? Wether he professes Christ or not, our friend are seeking us out because we have a Rock to cling to that they don't. Don't think that his rejecting God means you have a gag order. Jesus lives in you, so what you say will and should reflect him.
That would be my advice for you. I know it's REALLY tough. My friend simply drives me mad (mainly because he knows the truth and he won't act on it!!), but with our prayers, spirit directed words, and the actions of God in these people's life-- there's still hope for them. I'll pray for both you and your friend.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill.
Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.
Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.
But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence.
