I know! Kishimoto has a way of getting us to connect with the characters and their fates... and then he goes and throws them into life-threatening situations and climactic battles!

I've got a lot of reading to do. ^_^
I've only read up to volume 4, and I'm still waiting to get to the bookstore to get the next.
I never read the first volume since the bookstore didn't have it right then...

Gah, I feel like such an outsider when it comes to these things. I've loved anime and manga for years but I've only just now began to purchase actual merchandise.
I've rented anime before but I feel uncomfortable buying because I have a wierd family situation...my dad doesn't mind me watching whatever but my mom has strong convictions. So do I.
And so I guess I'll always be looking in from the outside...
I've read alot of spoilers, though so I know alot about most series...I just wish there were some way I could read and watch this kind of stuff without it getting in the way of my spiritual life.

I appreciate your interest in this thread, Madeline. I do have one question, though... Why do you think that this sort of anime (Naruto in particular) will interfere with your spiritual journey? Maybe it's a personal thing, and I respect that fact if certain plot details make you feel uneasy.

Even so, you've read the first few volumes, right? Do you like the series in general?

OOT: Maybe she meant that it would use up her time when it should be used for spiritual growth? I dunno, I want to know too Madeline if that's okay ^^ My own problem with anime/manga/games is mainly the time they take up. God knows (and probably every other person) the time I spent watching anime, reading manga, and playing games would probably have gotten me halfway into all of my projects by now XD

228.... Haarrrr!! Get on with it already!! These filler flashbacks are really just repeating themselves (not to mention giving the yaoi people more ammo--again). Though, yeah, can't complain either. I apparently missed Kakashi more than I thought XD And yes, Naruto is going to go all Kyuubi on Sasuke--in the next chapter :\ At least it seems their fight *is* going to go un-interuptted. Though Kakashi's summoning points to the opposite >_<

I can't wait for the next chapter either-- Kyuubi Naruto definitely looks like he scared Sasuke XD! I do want to see Kakashi show up, however.... maybe in chapter 230 or so. Perhaps after Sasuke or Naruto has already won (hopefully Naruto).

I suspected this (that Naruto would survive a Chidori). And it will be awesome to see Kyuubi Naruto fight (but I've said similar things before, so we'll see), though Sasuke still has the Second Level Curse Seal. Also, it's good to see Kakashi again, but I'd suspect he'll only arrive in time to keep the victor (and loser, most likely) from dying.

My thoughts on this chapter: it was cool. Kakashi was back, and Naruto seems ready to keep the fight going strong.

My other thoughts on this chapter: it was bad. These flashbacks are annoying me, and drawing this out beyond its proper extent. We've had enough of them, it's time for a real fight...

I was so happy that I saw Kakashi and that I almost jumped out of my seat. And it's fun to see the nin dogs.

I can't wait until Naruto whips Sasuke like nobody's buisness. Naruto is the best, ever.

I think if Kakashi arrives, there could well be some smacking going on, and probably chewing out for them fighting each other, though on a far more serious level than the last time. That sentence was so terribly convoluted...

I wonder if Kakashi will physically intervene... I hope he sides with Naruto, of course. There's been some talk of Kakashi possibly dying, but that would just be a waste of a character & pretty random =|

Well, it looks like 229 is out, and it appears to be an emotional chapter. It's not translated yet, so I'll just wait until it is to discuss what's going on.

For you spoiler-loving people:

[spoiler]It's another action-packed chapter that solely focuses on Naruto and Sasuke fighting... And there are some flashbacks, but they appear to be generally relevant as they contrast Sasuke and Naruto's past with their violent present relationship. All in all, this was an interesting chapter with some pretty good Kyuubi Naruto action ^___^[/spoiler]

I recently read the translation.... It was very interesting. I wonder why Sasuke finally

[spoiler] Put on his leaf headband.... Does that mean that he's acknowledging Naruto has his equal? If so, why's he doing that now ? (I mean, he's evil and has been callous towards Naruto until this chaper.) Was he moved by Naruto's dedication and great amounts of effort put in to get through to him? I wouldn't assume so, but Sasuke's questioning seemed earnest. ("Why did you go so far to reach me?").[/spoiler]

Anyway, this was a good chapter... It was nice to see Naruto fighting Sasuke and beating him ^___^.....

But then there's the weird Sharingan thing... [spoiler] 3 wheel-things?!?[/spoiler]

I love Naruto for what he does to Sasuke. Personally, I found the conversations pretty emotionally moving. Pls pls pls...bring him back, Naruto. <---- realizes she's acting exactly like Sakura ^_^;;;

I can't wait for Kakashi to make his appearance though. I wonder what he can do in such a situation.

Yes, it was very emotional.... Especially when Naruto said something like

[spoiler]"When I'm with you, I wonder... Is this what it's like to have a brother?"[/spoiler]

So sad and sweet.... But it may make the yaoi fangirls get excited. Even so, I still don't see it as remotely indicative of any gay content.... It's just the story of a lonely boy who's losing one of his first close friends.

Good chapter, good chapter indeed. I'm glad to see them finally fight for real, even if it was just Sasuke getting his head handed to him. I thought the rest of it was somewhat sweet (though it's no more than fuel for yaoi fans, despite the fact that it indicates in an opposite direction).

It appears that Sasuke will be moving to the full Sharingan before the second curse seal level. He's finally up to par with the other two Sharingan users. If this makes a huge difference in the fight, though, I'll be annoyed. Such a thing shouldn't matter too much...

Then you might be slightly annoyed with 230, UC. But hey, what's this? There's a SECOND form to Kyuubi-mode? O-o-okay.....

Well, this is really following the power-up formula a bit too much and too quick for me... but oh well. Besides, I find it cool they've been talking, standing, and fighting for a half of two chapters on the side of a cliff. Eat that Spiderman.

Well, I'm willing to give Sasuke an advantage via the Sharingan after I have viewed chapter 230. I don't think it would have helped him greatly if Naruto would have used different manners of attacks.

Mayhaps, however, this explains why Kakashi so thoroughly beat Zabuza after the Chidori failed...

Here is what does annoy me (and it's already been said): this battle is falling into the binary pattern. I wish they were more even, instead of the endless transformations and beat-downs.

Yeah, Sasuke definitely had the advantage in this chapter, but the preview of 231 suggest a turning of the tide... Naruto's newest Kyuubi form looks quite powerful.

Even so, the battle is kind of losing its appeal (like UC said) because of the constant transformations and subsequent uneven struggles. Sasuke and Naruto are both strong... why not make them more even??

For those of you who like DBZ, weren't the fights between Goku and Vegeta usually interesting and exciting? (I'm not a big fan of the series). They were nearly even and had a good reason to consider the other as his rival. Naruto and Sasuke have a similar dynamic, but it's quickly fading as the chapters drag on....

Anyone agree? Dissent?
