Beware of Ouija boards! Scary experience...

Talk about anything in here.

Postby Mangafanatic » Thu Aug 12, 2004 5:54 pm

Oh, yeah, people'd just be dying to buy one of those.

You know, I was just thinking about it. . .

Why would a demon be more likely to "break into your house" or try to smother you in your bed or throw teacups one by one off your shelves (this is another story I've heard about these things) because you use an ouija board? I mean, why don't they do stuff like this all the time? Why would they wait for you to use an ouija board to make your lights flicker?
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

Maybe because you've basically "invited" them into your house. Anyway, I think they play tricks because they're extremely mischeivous and want to scare you...I don't really know. Actually Mom was blanket-bound when she wasn't playing with an ouija board.

And steal socks out of the dryer so you can never find a matching pair.

I've never used one, but this is what I understand about what goes on. It's supposed to be you & a few other people, and this triangle piece that's meant for the 'spirits' to guide. The group puts their hands on it, and it moves, while everyone swears up and down that they're not the ones moving it, and you all sit around watching it spell out a message from 'the other side'. So sometimes the message might be someone messing with you, sometimes from real demons.

I don't have many scary stories myself, never being involved heavily in anything occult. The closest I've ever been to a Ouija board is when an old neighbor of mine had one when we were kids. Even then I thought the whole thing was ridiculous and easily rigged, so I lost interest quickly (much to the chagrin of any hopeful "ghosts" I'm sure). We spent most of our time arguing over who was making the indicator move, and it was in broad daylight.... so not much potential for demonic visitation there.

The "Bloody Mary" tale reminds me of a story my friend has from elementary school. After class she and a few other girls locked themselves in the bathroom, sat around in a circle, and did the whole chanting thing that was supposed to conjure up the ghost. Lo and behold, the lights began flickering and everyone swears the deranged poltergeist in question made an appearance in the mirror.

Also, I visited a bookstore once that I thought sold actual literature, but turns out it was in fact an occult supplier with everything from "healing" crystals to witchcraft books/supplies to buddhist, hindu, and hare krishna meditation robes to tarot cards and more of the same. The spiritual warfare going on in my head was utterly tangible...I remember feeling sick and uncomfortable and strangely unwelcome.

So while some of this stuff sounds like nonsense, it's negative reprecussions are definitely real. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

And these Spirits that are supposidly our Dead Family memebers are nothing than Evil spirits trying to mimic our deciesed reletives for Attention. Which is why Oujia Boards are so popular, becuae they decieve people into thinking that they are contacting "spirits" when reallly, they're just talking to demons.

What better way to trick people away from God than by appealing to their grief, emotions, or curiousity? If someone thinks dabbling in necromacy is nothing more sinister than getting to know their estranged late grandfather, then it will be that much harder to convince them of the truth of the situation. As if "magical talking boards" weren't bad enough, we've got John Edwards and the 'psychic' friends preying on people's desperation to hear from the "beyond".

So, what exactly is necromancy? I mean "necro" equal death, but I'm still a little fuzzy on the exact meaning of this phrase.

By the way Mangafanatic...I shook all over hearing Mom's stories, too...

That's real? I thought it was just fake...my friend dared me to do it over the phone once and I did. I walked in, cut off the light and said it three times, then walked out. I didn't see anything...I'm glad. I'm scared now, and I'm not ashamed to admit it.

Ouija boards? Oh man....

I remember when I was a small child (and ignorant about what Ouija boards really were about). I saw it on a commercial and I was like "Hey cool that thing answers your questions !"

Then I got a tad bit older and smarter and saw it again on the commercials. Then I was like "aw thats a rip off, those people make that thing move with their hands :shady:"

But then, after growing more mature in my spiritual life, I finally learned that Ouija boards messed with the occult and they are nothing to fool around with :wow!:. I never seen anyone play it in real life but after hearing these stories I don't want to.

They're sold as games, but I repeat, it's nothing to fool around with. And to think it's targeted towards children...

Wait a minute, you mean just by saying that "bloody Mary thing"? Oh, I'm with Yojimbo on that one. I don't think that would cut you off from God.

Well, wait, maybe I'm doing this all wrong. If you feel it was a sin, then confess it to God. The scriptures tell us that it will be forgiven. That's what I would do.

Yeah I'm with Mangafanatic. Even if you didn't know it was wrong at the time, maybe pray for forgiveness and wisdom in any similar situation in the future. I usually stay away from anything that has anything remotely to do with "communicating" with "spirits" or anything like that. If I hear 'ghost' I assume demon and stay away even if its just some stupid rumor. God and Jesus have full power over demons, but we shouldn't thrust ourselves in situations that put us in danger.
That being said, demons are very scary and real, but remember they can't harm us cause we have Jesus. Nothing much for us to be afraid of. ^-^ Maybe that's why I'm not that freaked out by this thread.

Very true with all of what you have said, someone I knew was dabbling with one (I won't say playing, because it's not) with her dad, and she asked the board what she would be when she grew up. The piece moved to the word "no", her father got really ticked off at her claiming that she was doing it deliberatly, but she felt a pull when she wasn't doing it. At the same time, if I recall correctly, a window blew open with a VERY chilling wind (spine chill, not exactly a freezing temp.) blew in. I think like a week or a month later, her dad died.

Very scary, and nothing good can come from it because it is a selfish act to use one in the first place, fun or no. (Also because it takes away from God).

I've heard of the bloody mary thing, I'm personally not sure on the validity, but it is much inviting a demon/evil spirit into your home, temple, and mind based on the concept of how it's supposed to happen.

As for the "light as a feather, stiff as a board" thing mentioned way earlier. It is simply an aided mental concentration that creates a simple illusion based on perception on the part of the participant and the others involved (the chant is the focusing aid). It scares a lot of people because they think it is emptying your mind and letting evil in. I personally find the notion to be based on fear, I believe perfectly possible to meditate without allowing evil in, just meditate on God. The whole concept (as explained in the final paragraphs here) is based on ignoring your physical body by thinking of something else. The rythm of the saying that it is named for provides that.

It works in the sense that muscle memory from doing things over and over again works (like typing, half the time a person doesn't think of "where" the keys are, his fingers just move there). but in this case, letting go to mental impulse and muscle memory creates the tendency to stiffen up like a board. That is why when someone realizes that they are 6 feet in the air, they fold up and people are there to catch them. (The same thing happens in martial arts, a person will train and train techniques in the classes, and will react out of habit if attacked in real life.)

The reason it seems like the person is lighter weight when they are stiffened like that is how awkward it is to hold the body, if it slumps and folds in, the weight distribution will make it more awkward to hold, and seem heavier.

I've done the light as a feather thing, it was at camp and the other girls in the cabin wanted to play "light as a feather" before bed time and I didn't know what it was, and I was the lightest so of course I was the one to be lifted off the ground. So the other girls put they're pinkey fingers under me (to make it harder I geuss) and lifted me of the ground. It was fun until they dropped me by accident and I nearly hit the floor until they caught me (i'm never doing that again).

I've never done the "bloody mary" thing but I have heard stories.
happy go luck monkey!

Destroyer--don't worry, you thought it was fake, I doubt God is angry with you.
Heart of Sword's Rhapsody

Money, get away
Get a good job with good pay and you're okay
And all and all you're just another brick in the wall
Shoutin’ in the street gonna take on the world some day
But Bismallah will not let me go
Because I'll see you on the dark side of the moon

Tommy used to work on the docks
Union's been on strike
Bright eyes burning like fire
And exposing every weakness
However carefully hidden by the kids

Who will love a little Sparrow
Who's traveled far and cries for rest
Spare him his life from this monstrosity

I've seen a million faces and I've rocked them all
And if the band youre in starts playing different tunes
We will we will rock you
We will we will rock you!

[Pink Floyd fan listening to Queen and hugging trees which is also known as taking care of God's creation with a pair of headphones on listening to Nightwish as loud as possible while writing a novel on a computer in the middle of a field filled with Wolves.]

By the way, I'm leaving today for a week, on vacation.

How does it know how to spell? O_O;

Well, if the Devil/demons is smart enough to trick you into using one and going against what God says about witchcraft, I’m sure they are more then capable of having a grasp somewhat on the English language

But like I said, you're supposed to be doing the 'reading' with a few other people. If you ask the board something like 'Ohmygosh! Tommy is soooo cute! Should I ask him out?!' There might be someone else there doing the reading with you, who, uh, might 'change' the results to suit themselves.

The spiritual warfare going on in my head was utterly tangible...I remember feeling sick and uncomfortable and strangely unwelcome.

Ug... I know the feeling. I don't get sick, but I get extremely tired after spending a while. Like something is draining all of your energy....

Or maybe the board (under Tommy's direction) will say "No, but your cute friend definitely should."
