Jealousy

Maybe this doesn't belong here, I'm sorry. I think I am also being so selfish because alot of my threads are just about me, asking for help. I'm apologize.

I was wondering, how do you deal with jealousy? What does it mean to be humble and meek and how do you do it?

I am having a problem with this.. I saw something that someone had (it's not an object... more of a characteristic) and though "Why can't I have that!" No matter how hard I try it just feels like if I have nothing, nothing good at all. This feeling just balls up all inside of me.

I would really like help with this, please.

I wish I could help. Hmmm. *thinks* Maybe write out a list of everything good you have. Not just material things, but also write out the people who care about you *don't forget God* and the traits that you have. Then look at that list next time you feel you have nothing. Also, maybe you should stop asking "why can't I have that trait", but instead ask "What can I do to attain that trait? Why do I feel that I don't have this trait?"

I don't know if any of this is helping or not. Hopefully it helped a little.

And, I don't think people mind giving advice where it is needed. ^_^ So go ahead and ask away.

First of all, it is not selfish to ask for help with your problems. We all need help sometimes, and I for one am happy to answer your questions .

The only way to deal with jealousy is to be content with what you have, or at least content with the things that you can change. The best way to do this is to be thankful for the blessings that God has bestowed upon you. When you pray, be sure to thank God for what he has given you, and for the good things that have happened during the day. If you can, it wouldn't hurt to stop and thank God at various times throughout the day.

Second, realize that through Christ, you have eternal life and forginess for your sins. That is the most valuable thing that anyone could possibly have; so, if you can't be thankful for anything else, thank God for that.

hay if no one asked for help how could we surve? any way i would agree with cbwing on thanking God for what you have and what he has done for you. Always remeber to pray about all things big and small let God help you with them all

I know what it's like to experience jealously so it's helpful to hear some advice from others too. I try not to be jealous but it happens. So I try to focus on what things about me that makes me great or, if it gets too out of hand, I pray to God to make it subside.

Anyway, I like Bakura_fan's idea of listing what things you like about yourself/ what things God has blessed you with. I think that will keep you in perspective of how wonderful you are as an individual.
