There's a fair amount of speculation as to this mirroring historical events as well. Alexander the Great was supposedly killed by a fire started by... a yellow rat. Coincidence? Probably. The people buying into this party, however, say that Ron will die, assuming they guessed the character he plays correctly.

Don't ask me any questions about that. I probably can't answer them.

Ew. I hope that doesn't happen. I wouldn't mind him being opposed to Harry for a book if need be, but I'd really be ticked if he turned out to be a traitor. Or if he died. Yes, that would not sit well with Mangafanatic.

Those are two of the most interesting favorite characters I've ever heard. (whle I will admit that I'm rather fond of Luna myself, but that's probably because I think she'd be such a fun character to play.)

Lol, yeah, Luna's great. I don't mean I like her and Ron as a couple, though. >.> No, I guess I'm more of a RonxHermione person. Not too original, but I'm more likely to be pleased XD

You know what,I was thinking about this whole pairing thing today. I think Harry and Jenny will get together, despite their past. That would make me ubber happy. (Actually, I'll be happy just so long as he doesn't get together with Cho Chang. That child is an emotional basket case.)

Facts about the book 6 from JK herself:

The sixth book is yet to be titled, and don't believe anything otherwise.

By the ends of books 6 and 7 "you'll have all the back story you'll need", says JK Rowling, and a prequel will not be necessary

There will be a new Minister of Magic, no more Mr. Fudge.

We will find out what happened to Hagrid's half brother Grawp. He will be a bit more controllable in book 6.

The Dursleys are in the next book, but Harry's stay with them will be the shortest yet. In book 5 he stayed for 4 weeks, so we know his stay will be less than 4 weeks.

Cho Chang will not be a romantic interest of Harry in Book 6, however there will be a "little romance" for Harry says JK.

In books 6 and 7 we will find out exactly why JK killed off Sirius.

Harry becomes even more powerful in book 6.

In books 6 and 7 we will find out why Dumbledore trusts Snape.

We will find out what happened to Wormtail AKA Peter Pettigrew

More about the animosity between Snape and Sirius will be revealed in the last 2 books.

JK has said that giving away the form of Snape's boggart and patronus says too
much. We'll definitely find out what Snape's worst fear is, and it'll be important.

Hermione and Draco will NOT end up together in book 6 or 7.

We will find out what exactly Dudley saw when he looked at the dementors.

The reason Voldemort and Harry both didn't die when Voldemort tried to kill Harry, will be revealed.

We will see more of Draco's mother, Narcissa Malfoy, now that Lucius is busy.

We'll learn more about Harry's scar in the last 2 books.

Moaning Myrtle will make an appearance again, as will Tonks.

More about Voldemort's birth will be revealed, thus helping us understand why he is so evil.

Muggles begin to notice "more and more odd" occurrences in book 6, says JK.

The wizarding world is really at war in the sixth book.

Harry will tell his dearest friends about the prophesy after it sinks in to him.

We will learn more about Harry's relatives, including his grandparents (though JK says they aren't really important to the story)

We will find out what happened to Sirius's motorbike.
Book 6 will be shorter than the 5th book (or at least JK's 99% sure, but will not swear on her children's lives)

There will be no "new" nationalities of children at Hogwarts. Hogwarts is a British school, and JK says that adding foreigners for the sake of it is not in her plans.
During an interview, when JKR was asked in which Hogwarts room she'd like to be for 1 hour, she said it would be a room in which Harry has been before, but doesn't know its importance. Yet. (this could have happened in book 5, but we're unsure)
It's very important in the plot that Harry has his mother's eyes, and that her wand was very good for charms.

During an interview for Kids BBC, Victor Greensteet (reporter) asked Rowling if Harry would have a dragon for a pet. This is what she replied: "You can't tame a dragon, no matter what Hagrid thinks. It's simply impossible. So no. He has more common sense. He MAY have a different pet in the future, but for now, I won't say anything else". (This could have been buckbeak, but I'm sure we can expect more pets)

In the same interview for Kids BBC, the reporter asked J. K. if Harry had ever used the internet, and this is what she had to say: "No. They (the Dursleys) won't let him go near Dudley's computer, and Dudley is the only one who has a computer. They hit him if he gets too near to the keyboard. So the answer would be No. I use it a lot, but Harry doesn't. Wizards don't really need to go on the web. They have an even better way to find out what's happening in the outside world, which I think is a lot more fun than the Internet, but I'm going to keep quiet on this one."

The choice between what's right and what's easy will be a pillar of the plot in

Harry's last 2 years at Hogwarts

Harry's parents' profession will be a big part of the plot.

Something HUGE will be revealed about Lily Potter.

I'm pretty sure I know what Snape is the most afraid of. It's a guess, but I'll put it in spoiler tags just incase.
I'm guessing Snape's a vampire. So his partonus would be a bat or something and his boggart for would be a cross or a silver bullet or something. Can't exactly remember what kills a vampire. . .
What is JKR thinking? Not getting Draco and Hermione togther? Why! It's madness. But seriously :eyebrow:, who on earth is hopping this will happen?

It is very interesting to see all that information. My thanks.

You think that about Snape, eh? Well, an answer to your question will vary depending on the source you use, but vampires have traditionally:
1) been killed by stakes through the heart
2) or decapitation in some cases
3) been repelled by garlic
4) been repelled and wounded by holy symbols
5) been injured or killed when fully immersed in water
6) been unable to enter a house uninvited or cross running water easily

I'm skeptical of the "Snape=a vampire" theory.

I'm by no means an expert on the subject but can't vampires by injured by sunlight? Granted, Snape usually stays in that dungeon of his...

But, I still think that would prove to be a problem, teaching at a school.

Notice that snape closed the windows when he came in the class in the movie of Prisoner of Azkaban and Rowling said that the director actually put something in there that accurately pointed to something she hadn't revealed yet... Then again, (I haven't seen it yet) I saw him outside during the daytime too...

Hmm... Anyone seen it and think they've figured out what assumption the director was accurate about?

Ahhh...so much information. @_@ I love how the most random things end up being significant, and Rowling had better have a really really good reason for killing Sirius. *grumblegrumble*

On a side note relating to earlier in the discussion, I like Ron better than Harry, so if they do split, I'm cheering for Ron.

I was listening to an Audio Book called "Finding God in Harry Potter" (which any Harry Potter fan would get a huge kick out of. Me and my sister loved it) and this is where I originally heard the "Snape=a Vampire" theory. Gee, it fun having people to talk about these books with. Most of my friends look at me like I've spouted extra eyes when I mention that I've read Harry Potter.

Has anybody else read Finding God in Harry Potter?

(I go to a really conservative Christian Co-operative, which is a means by which Home schooling students can get classes that their parents can't teach, and this year we got a dress coce. Collared shirt, tucked in, ect. And at Halloween I'm going to go as a Hogwarts student. It's gonna be so funny. Most of the kids there think Harry Potter is a curse word.)

I know I'm about 50 steps behind in this convo, but the "philosopher's stone" thing was one of the major points to cause a stir with the Christian watchdogs. The reason being that Nicholas Flammel was a real person, really did practice alchemy (the practice of using combonations of animal and plant parts to attempt to create miraculous things such as gold from lead and, as with the Philosopher's stone, the key to immortality) and people have thought that he really did develop the philosopher's stone and really is immortal and is still alive today and they based a cult around it (my, grammer is just thank you, fine thank you)

Of course, if any of the watchdog groups had not only read but thought logically about it, it could be said that the end of the book should calm their fears, as
The stone is destroyed and Nicholas Flammel dies, though his age at the destruction of the stone is cause for concern as well... 666... Of course, that is also a true calculation of his age to the point at which the book takes place, so they didn't have much control over that.
In any case, Rowling has winked and nudged about Ron and Hermione... Unless she's planning on changing details later on, which she can very well do, that's who the couple is... She also said that there will be nothing further with Harry and what'shername, so that's the end of that. Hmm... We'll just have to see how this ends up.

Some say that Snape is the half blood prince, remember the part in the Sirius's house when Harry saw his (Sirius's) family tree and nearly all of the dreath eaters were on it..well if Snape was a pure-blood he would've been on it, but he is not.

I think the operative phrase in that statement is "Almost" all of the death eaters were on it. By the interchange between Lily, James, Snape, ect, we know that Snape had no quams calling Lily a "mudblood". I some how find it unlikely that someone who was of mixed descent himself would say something like that. Furthermore, Snape is the head of the Slytherine house, which is quite notorious for its selectiveness. While I know it's not impossible that Dumbledore could have placed Snape as head of that house despite a mixed leniage, I still doubt it.

Yes, or at least enough of it. I applaud her intent with the book, and find it quite admirable... but her point beyond the introduction is truly merely an extension that serves little purpose unless you intend to use Harry Potter to teach.

Isn't that Connie Niel?

I read her (I think I got the name right) book "What's a Christian to do with Harry Potter" a while back... while waiting for "Harry Potter and the Bible" to come back into the library. Connie seems to have taken a more ballanced truth finding route as apposed to the other book's "I got something to prove and I'll grasp for any straws I can to prove it."

I have to say one thing... I'm still not 100% convinced that anyone was killed in the 5th book... my Mom feels the same way (though we may both find out differently over the next few years as book 6 and 7 comes out).

Um, Finding God in Harry Potter was written by John Granger. (He's some big Rowling expert-- apparently hired by Barnes and Nobles as their current know-it-all. Atleast, I think it was Barnes ad Nobles)

Sirius not dead? Hmm, I don't think so. Judging by discussion which Harry has with Luna at the end of that book and the talk he had with Nearly Headless Nick, I'd say he's definitely dead. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Assuming we refer to the same book, I don't think that was her point at all. She admits that she's grasping for straws in the introduction, but that is exactly her point. The concept of the book is that if people can take portions of Harry Potter (their own "straws") to prove it evil, it is just as legitimate to take random things to prove it holy. She's just set up a null-thesis, I don't think she was serious about it.

But as for the book authored by the person Megafanatic mentioned, I do not believe I have read it. Why? Is it worth it?

I'd have to double check, but, yes, I'm pretty sure. I think that's why he hated his father so much, because once he found out that his wife was a witch, he left her.

Technically, Harry is too, his mum being muggle-born (even though she's a witch) and all.

Here's some things of interest relating to Sirius and the d-word that bring up some very good points:

And to you, I say "Neeh!" for your purposeful misspelling of my name. ;)

But, in relation to that book, I thought it was quite interesting. It had alot about alchemical imagery, and some fun speculations. Just a fun and informative book all around. Then again, I had just finished reading the most ridiculous book that really was the epitomy of "grasping at straws" concerning Harry Potter's "demonic roots". You'll just have to decide for yourself.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. Ah; I see. Personally, I try to avoid getting very much into all these issues, for the sake of having too much to do with my time in any case. Which is why I only skimmed the prior book I mentioned.

While I'd like to say that I was making an intentional statement, that was completely and honestly a mistake. I was working on too many things at once and transferred part of another name onto yours. Sorry.

So I ask you, prove yourself
Make me believe that you are whole

Hey, no problem. I really wasn't mad, I just thought I'd say the "neeh" thing. I mean, quoting Monty Python and the Holy Grail-- couldn't pass that up.
