Game suggestions?

Postby Destroyer2000 » Mon Aug 02, 2004 4:31 pm

I am looking for good games...I prefer RPGs. I want something besides the .hack series (didn't like em) and FF. Any suggestions? ANY game will work for me.

Skies of Arcadia: Legends is an awesome RPG for Gamecube.

I think that's the only RPG I've got unless you count the Zelda series. Those are totally awesome, even if they aren't RPGs. My favorite was OoT...

Okay, there's my input. Hope you find a cool game to get. If it helps, I'm really into Aggressive Inline and Tony Hawk's Underground right now.

If they're older that won't bother you will it? There's tons I could say but the two that came to my mind first are Grandia 2 and Crono Cross.

Grandia and Grandia II: Beautiful RPGs (but for the sake of your sanity, don't play Grandia EX. It sucked in my professional opinion). If you ignore the fact that a false religion that slightly resembles Catholiscism is the centerpiece of Grandia II, you'd love the game. The best battle system I've ever played.

I liked Grandia 2 on the Dreamcast a lot myself. Skies of Arcadia DC wasn't too bad, although Grandia was much, much better.

Speaking of Dreamcast RPG's, stay away from the Evolution series no matter what. I'd rather watch paint dry than trudge through that incredibly boring series a second time...

Hmmm....RPG's.... I’m coming up blank. Well I know one that's not FF or. Hack it's Legend of Dragoon. It's pretty good, but it's an oldie. I know you said anything but FF but if your looking for something different but still set in the FF universe you can't go wrong with FF Tactics.... Yummy stuff if you’re into strategy RPG's. But it's another oldie.

Sorry I can't afford a new game system or computer. I'm so far behind and I want to be a game designer. I barley got me a dreamcast last X-mas.... That tells you how far behind I am. Still older games are the best I think. Ooo...speaking of dreamcast there's also Phastasy Star Online.

You can play offline too but it's more fun online. The other games I mentioned can be found on the lovely Ps One. Ok that's all I have to say for now.

Although in many respects not an RPG in things like battle systems, the first Deus Ex on PC and PS2 (PC much prefered) was a game that managed to combine the RPG and First Person Shooter genres well. Unless you only play RPGs for that sort of battle system and not the worlds and interaction, you should pass it up. I would also consider both Shenmue games, though those without patience should pass up on them. Gladius is a third idea because although there is hardly a story in much of the game, the battle system is really fun.

No offense intended, dungeon crawlers just naturally bore me.

Have you tried American RPGs? Neverwinter Nights and Knights of the Old Republic are great.

The best RPG I've played recently is Tales of Symphonia. I also really like Fire Emblem...
Oh, and KOTOR. The only reason I actually want an XBox.

As for the Evolution series...I rented out Evolution Worlds a while back...I was...bored by it. The main reason I play RPGs is for the story, and the story on that game was...eh, only so-so.
