Question about the Lufia series, the Star Ocean series, and the Tales series...

Are they good? I mean, Tales of Symphonia is going to be awesome, but if these are good games, I want them all...how are they?

I don't know about the latter two, but the Lufia series was pretty good. It was a very enjoyable RPG that was sadly overshadowed by other RPG's such as Final Fantasy. Give it a shot.

The Lufia series was cool from what i remember, but it's been so long since i dusted off that cart and tried to play it that i couldn't give you a good answer.

I'd definately suggest picking up any of these games if you can find em.

Star Ocean: One of my favorite series. The series contains four games (Star Ocean on the SNES, Star Ocean: The Second Story on the PS1, Star Ocean: Blue Sphere on the GBC, and Star Ocean: Til the End of Time on the PS2), but currently only the Star Ocean: The Second Story has been released in the US. The most recent Star Ocean game for the PS2, Star Ocean: Til the End of Time is going to be released in the US on August 31st.

Tales series: Considered a sister series to Star Ocean, because the two series share several similarities (Tri-ace, the company that made Star Ocean, was founded by ex-employees from Wolf Team, the studio that had created the Tales series). The series currently contains five main games and several spin-offs. Only Tales of Destiny, Tales of Eternia, and Tales of Symphonia have been released in the US. Tales of Eternia was renamed in the US to Tales of Destiny II thus messing up the series titles when the REAL Tales of Destiny II was released in Japan for the PS2. This Tales of Destiny II and the first game in the series, Tales of Phantasia, have never been released in the states.
Tales of Symphonia has been probably the best RPG released this year so far.

Lufia: Don't really have much experience with this series. It contains four games; Lufia and the Fortress of Doom(SNES), Lufia II: Rise of the Sinistrals(SNES), Lufia: The Legend Returns(GBC), and Lufia: The Ruins of Lore(GBC). I've played the first two, the first more than the second. The story seemed to be good. However, I gave up on Lufia 1 when I had to level my characters up 10 levels after every dungeon...

So, I would recomend Star Ocean: The Second Story, and Tales of Symphonia. Both are very good games.

I have Star Ocean, Star Ocean 2, and wating for the third. For what I have played I suggest you buy Star Ocean 2.

I have Tales of Destiny, which has a great fighting style, but a long streched out story. As for ToD2 I never played. ToPhantasia is alright was well. Its for (Super Falcom) its like ToD. ToS I need to play. Check out the RPGdreams.com for more info on the gamde. **listed above**
