I took a year for French.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. For more information concerning how you can help and how you can get an incredible video about this horrific reality, visit the Invisible Children home page.

I took four years of German in highschool, though I only retained about one year's worth. It's pretty much slightly above generic-tourist-level understanding of the language. I would also like to learn Japanese. I wanna buy a book or two on it sometime.

I'm taking French next year. I even already know some! I don't know where any of the apostrophes go though.

Spencer: Bonjour. Je mapelle Spencer.
Ringo: Bonjour, Spencer. Je mapelle Ringo.
Spencer: Comment allez vous?
Ringo: Tres bien, merci.

lol, I dunno if I did that right, but I think it means:

Spencer: Hello. My name is Spencer.
Ringo: Hello Spencer. My name is Ringo.
Spencer: How are you?
Ringo: Very well, thank you.

^^;;

Wow! You're good! You did everything right exept the punctuation? (like you said) But that's ok. French grammar is hard, I'm really not good at it! >.<;;

"Je m'apelle Spencer" Also instead of "Bonjour" you could say "Salut!" (pronounce: Sah-lu)

Any one else? What language do you know?

But doesn't nino mean boy?

As you can probably see, yo hablo un poco espanol (I speak a little spanish). I took one and a half years of it. I still occasionally use it, talking to Spanish people on an internet game, or when I speak to the Nicaraguans at my church.

I grew up with grandparents who only spoke Spanish, so I understand it when it's spoken, but I can't speak it worth a flip.

My main language is English and 20 years ago when I was in college I had progressed very far in sign language and really understand that a bit more than Spanish.

French I took for three years and am at a tourist level like Spoonybard.

Right now, I want to learn Welsh Gaelic. Does anyone know Gaelic - Welsh or otherwise?

[size=84][color=seagreen]YOU SEE

You see into the deepest part of me ---

beyond the fog I hide behind.

You cast your light upon the shadows

that stretch like cobwebs in my mind.

You ease the pain when I am hurting,

and morbid visions from my past

pierce into the realm of Reason

as though I danced on blades of glass.

You grant me strength when I have fallen

and, once again, I've lost my way.

You take my hand in Yours and lead me

into the promise of a brand new day.

You bring order to all my chaos,

yet set my well-laid plans awry.

You place me on a firm foundation ---

then give me wings so I can fly.

You sand away my roughened edges

and polish all the dullest parts

until I stand before Your presence...

a newly-sculpted work of art.

You see into the heart within me,

right through my motives and selfish will.

And yet, in spite of all You see

You say You love me even still.

English : ), Farsi, and I'm learning French. After that, I have to learn Italian, Korean, Japanese, and Latin. It's not optional, either.

My first language is English, I'm taking Japanese, studying Chinese on my own, took a little Latin in middle school, and hope to learn Arabic, Swahili, and maybe Korean later. That way I can communicate with most of the world! ^__^ I'd also like to learn ancient Egyptian (heiroglyphics and all) later just for fun.

English is the only one I speak fluently, unless you count gibberish. ^_^

I also speak a little French, but not too much. Two years of it and I still can't say you're welcome. That is the biggest pet peeve I have about that.

I'm lucky, I can pick up languages really, really quickly when I hear them spoken. Took two years of Spanish during high school, helps that my best friend is Hispanic. And then your basic hodge-podge Latin, French, and Japanese.

I took French for two years in highschool, but I don't remember a whole lot. I know a few words here and there. A couple of years ago I know how to greet a person in forty languages. (I should brush up on my Madyar [Hungarian, but I think that their name for it is prettier] and Kazak sometime.) Mostly I just know English. I would love to learn Russian though.

Oh, a relative lost my main disc for a Japanese language program. :( Hopefully it will turn up soon. At least I do have the Japanese disc that came in this really cool set of discs for 33 languages that my brother and I both got from Costco. :) My brother also took French and practically taught himself Latin at least as much as he could from library books, then he took college Spanish and Greek. He's been more of a linguist, so I do more of an ADD attention span interest in writing systems. For example, I would like to lern cunieform, even if it will never hold any relavence in my life outside of entertainment.

I can only speak English fluently.

I've studied Biblical Greek some and I was studying Spanish for a while...but I stopped...so I can't speak either currently although I know some words and grammer rules.

Given the US State in which I live however, I will probably have to continue learning Spanish eventually.

We have a lot of linguistic talent here in the CAA. I'll keep that in mind, you never know when that'll come in handy.

One of the few things I remember from my Japanese classes:
nihongo o hanasemasen. - I don't speak Japanese.
