When you hold on too tight...

Postby Kat Warrior » Tue Jul 13, 2004 8:10 pm

...God is forced to pry it from you. I learned this the hard way. I had gotten caught up in anime that was far from pleasing to God, and now my step-dad is taking desperate measures by not allowing me anything to do with it. No merchandise or anything. Today I went through and cleared all these things from m room and it hurt... badly... and still does so much. I held on far too tight to things that were evil and did not matter. Even my avatar needs to be replaced soon.

I ask that you all pray for me. My heart is aching from holding on too tight and then being broken by reality. I know that this is for the better, but it's painful. Trust me. So please, do pray for me.

If it is like you say, and you were holding on too tight to things of this world, then this is for the better. We as believers sometimes hold on to things too tightly, whether they are bad things, or good things. Either way, if they are getting in the way of our relationship with God, then they need to go. Only you can truly judge that for sure, with the Bible, your conscience, and the convicting work of the Holy Spirit testifying to what is the right thing to do.

I applaud you for doing the right thing, even if you didn't want to at first. I pray that your life would be marked with that same obedience throughout. I must say that I agree with Volt here that God should be a part of everything in your life. I must go beyond that to say that God desires no small part in our lives, but that He desires to be number 1 in our lives, that we would do all things to His glory, and that all that we say and do would be pleasing to Him. I pray that that would be the case in not only your life, and the lives of the Christians that peruse this site, but in my life as well.
Praying for you,
Saint Kevin.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.

Maybe you can find some good, clean anime and try to convince your dad that it is acceptable, but, of course, don't disobey him or make him even angrier in doing so. Honor his decision because it is obviously teaching you something valuable. I'll pray for you!

Little Snow Fairy Sugar is acceptable in this house. Spriggan and Gundam Wing are not. Thanks guys. I really appreciate it, and it feels good to know that there are others who know I've done the right thing.
