Hmm, I know that feeling. LOTR. Not faithful enough to the books for me to really like it, but the movies were awesome.

Will see Spidey 2 this weekend assuming nothing goes wrong. :)

Your post was completely filled with contradictions, Volt... but it should be, given that you stated you had contradicting feelings yourself. I cannot say that I agree with you, but I will at least read what you have to say in such a thread.

I saw the movie last Friday, and I liked it, even more than the first film.

I liked the clever ways that he movie managed to include in-jokes from the comics in a way that would make them funny to people who weren't familar with them.

The movie had more of everything that made the first film enjoyable: action, character development, humor, romance, noble themes, etc.
My favorite line came at the end of the film, right after Mary Jane walks out on Jaameson's son. He appears to be sad, and says to his wife, "Honey, call the caterers. Tell them not to open the caviar." It fits his character perfectly, and provides some comic relief to an otherwise sad scene.
I agree that Doc Ock made a better villain that Green Goblin/Norman Osborn. However, I am a bit concerned about a possible third movie...
From the end of Spider Man 2, it looks like Harry Osborn will be the villain in Spider Man 3. From the quick glimpse at the costume, the head appear to be less pointy, which was the biggest problem with the costume in the first film. Hopefully Harry will take up the role of the Hobgoblin, rather than the Green Goblin, as I don't think it will not go over well with most moviegoers to have the same villain in two movies.

I am concerned, because I seriously doubt that the actor playing Harry Osborn will make a good villain. He has neither the maniacal outbursts of his father, or the intelligence and humanity of Doc Ock. It would be a serious departure from his character in the first two films to mimic his father's personality.
In response to JediSonic:
Connors was Peter Parker's professor in the movie, as well as the character who eventually becomes the Lizard in the comics.

As in the comics, you may have noticed that Connors is missing an arm. While experimenting with the regenerative properties of reptiles, Connors uses his discoveries on himself to regenerate his lost arm. Unfortunately, this also transforms him into the Lizard.

If a fourth film is made, I would bet on Connors playing a key role in it. At any rate, the potential is there.
Spider Man 2 was one of the best films that I have seen this summer, and I will be eagerly awaiting a possible (and probable ;) ) third film.

Recently I saw that the release date for Spiderman 3 was in the summer of 2007. So I will not be holding my breath. The program I saw this on was a somewhat respectable movie reviewer.

Yeah...it is easy to miss, since Connors wears a coat all of the time. It is most noticeable in the scene where Connors is talking to Peter about his bad grades. He turns to the side, and you can see that his right sleeve is rolled up. ;)

If you saw any spidey trailer it was nigh impossible to not know that, but I still understand the need for the spoiler tags.

I went to see it yesterday and it was great :thumb: Actually, it was better than I expected.
Even if there are already plans for it you could tell that it's going to be a third one. Doc Ock's character turned out to be appropriate too, not as cool as I thought they made him. There is only one part that I had a problem with: the runaway train scene. I know it's just a movie and all but why were all those people standing in the front of the train?! I mean they're only putting more weight in the front which could have made it tipped over and off the tracks. I don't know, I guess I'm just weird for thinking that way.
I agree with JediSonic's interpretation.

Meanwhile...
...wouldn't it be interesting if the third movie featured the Hobgoblin, the Lizard and Venom? Three villains strikes me as too many, but it would still make an action-packed movie.
You're right, I'm thinking it was more of (a) than (b) or (c). I always say stuff like that when I'm watching television shows. But I guess watching it and experiencing it are two different things with two different sets of reactions.

About the Venom question,
Where is Eddie Brock? That is why I don't think there will ever be Venom on there. You would think if they planned that then he would be there in at least the second movie. To just put him in the movie that Venom is in, seems strange. His hatred for spider-man and peter is what really made him into Venom. They would have dwelt on his character more then.
I saw the movie and it was awesome!! :thumb:
I really would like to see venom, but I don't see it as a possibility. Sad too. I am thinking it is more likely that the lizard and new goblin will show up.

The only complaint I have against the movie is the security precautions Doc oc took for his first try of the energy source. He didn't really take any. For such a risky experiment and a sensible scientist he sure was out of character for that part.

One other speculation concers MJ. Will she and PP get married?? If so will the divorce happen again? Another way of putting it is: will we get a candy ending or an ending true to the series?
I saw the movie a while ago, i just never bothered to post. I liked it alot. They did a good job on it, i dont see the problems with spiderman cg,i mean the colors are so bright in his suit its hard to make them look wrong when its already unatural looking. as far as next movie baddys.
As i remember it, Harry osborne was the 2nd green goblin, though i believe though i could be wrong, his father isn't really dead, he wakes up in the morgue but watches from a distance, as he's finally "being a man"

Meanwhile, of coarse i think the professor from movie 2 will end up being the lizard.

As for a third villian it would be cool, but Venom is a terrible for the sole reason that, they would need a 5 hour movie to bring him in correctly and if they dont do it right, its not worth haveing him in it.

They should take a quick to enter villian like Shocker, Kraven the hunter would be another awsome choise, Chamelion or evan Hobgoblin.

Out of all of them Hobgoblin would be the most realistic, though the less inventive. More realistic because he (cant remember the name right now) was looking around for green goblins hidden bases so that he could get goblins super strength serum. anyway enough nerding from me.
Well it is surely a very good movie with excellent fighting scenes. Sometimes though i felt like the movie had extensive scenes for not so important things and really short ones for other more important in my opinion...
I think that they can introduce Venom efficiently without having to waste the hole movie in the introduction. Anyway I am saying this because i think that Venom would be the best villain for the 3rd movie
