Tonight I got in a debate with a friend of mine on the internet. It was pro-life vs. pro-choice (abortion). I came out swinging with Jer. 1:5, but that means very little to an atheistic, evolutionist girl living in an airbase in Germany. She continued to bring up reasons why abortion was ok, all of which were incredibly rare cases (Rape, falopian pregnancy, etc). Let's just say this... she's very closeminded and in the dark.
Pleas pray that she will see the truth.

I will pray for you and your friend.

As a note, it's generally not a good idea to try to show pro-choicers that abortion is wrong by quoting the Bible. As Matthew 7:6 says, "Do not give what is holy to dogs, and do not throw your pearls before swine." In other words, don't quote the Bible to those who find it meaningless and worthless. There are much better and more intelligent ways to argue against abortion, and many of those you can find in good Christian books and articles dealing with the subject.

However, realize that people don't change their views easily, and they especially don't change them just because someone beat them in a debate. The best thing you can do is what Swordguy emphasized: to pray for her. Only God can change a person's heart.

Might I recommend two messages that could be of great help to you in this area. They are both by Dr. Douglas Groothuis, a professor at Denver Theological Seminary, and a frequent guest speaker at Riverside Baptist Church here in Denver. Be sure to listen to part 1a in the broadcast archives (July 2nd) before listening to today's (July 9th) part 1b message. I can only assume that a part 2a and 2b are planned for future friday broadcasts, and I look forward to listening to them, as Dr. Groothuis lays out some extremely persuasive arguments against abortion.
to get to the messages. As I said, the July 2nd message is in the "broadcast archives" section, and another is found at the "today's message" link if it is still July 9th when you read this.

Hope this helps, and needless to say, I'm praying for you.
Our lives are but a vapor, let us not let waste our time and breath on vanities, but let us spend ourselves for the Kingdom, seeking a better resurrection.
