The L33T Thread

Postby Saint Kevin » Sat Jun 26, 2004 5:22 am

Help me as I try to pin down what exactly is L33t these days.
For one, is l33t 5p34k (or however they say it) actually l33t?
If you guys have any input on what is, and is not, leet, put it here, in the leet thread, the 1337th thread on the general forum. (This was inspired by Shiroi and her "random observation" thread, so Shi, thanks for the inspiration, just for that, you're l33t in my book.

So, here's a couple of things that are l33t in my estimation, and also a few that aren't.

L33t: Cats, cheesecake, CAA (and all the kind admins and mods who will humor me by not throwing this into the goof-off in 5 seconds, c'mon, it's thread # 1337 in the general forum, how can you just throw it aside to the goof off?), snowboarding, xbox, anime, FFR, and l33test of all (all jokes aside now, be serious for a sec) our Lord Jesus, for where would we be without Him?

Some things that are not so l33t: My dog (long story, just trust me on this), chores, swearing (news flash - doesn't make you cool or more grown up, just the opposite in fact), war, suffering, and death.

Those are a few of mine. Your turn to throw your $.02 on what's l33t, and what's not...

Here goes...

Leet: Playstation 2 (especially w/Mega Man Anniversary Collection ;) ), Spider Man 2, beach vacations, Jesus Christ, nature, Warhammer 40k, having a job.

Not leet: Gamecube, DVDs not coming out until the holidays to maximize profits (I'm looking at you Star Wars, ROTK Extended Edition, and Dawn of the Dead!), working nights, and shipping charges.

Definitely not leet: l33t 5p34k itself, and anyone who uses it (except to commemorate the 1337th thread, of course :P ).

To the DVDs not coming out until the holidays to maximize profits, I have to add video games not coming out until the holidays to maximize profits. Spread them out people, c'mon, there is more than once a year that people have money to burn you know.

Hey wow, they made a Mega Man Anniversary Collection? Wow, I might have to get that, so I can see what all the MM-heads in here are really talking about.

C'mon guys, let's not turn this into a "battle of the fanboys" now. For all its flaws, Nintendo has, at the very least, given us memorable franchises for years to come. That's why I want them to become a 3rd party developer, so all can experience the joy of playing Nintendo games without having to pay for yet another console. If the Gamecube was a step in that direction, I'm all for it. Plus, how could you not like Super Smash Brothers Melee? That game is leet!

Leet: My dog (I like my dog), animals, my family and friends, my computer, anime, birds, lightning (you learn to love lightning when you work at a pool).

Not Leet: Sad stuff, mean people, death, and.... that's all I can think of. :P

Leet: Me (hahaha)

Not Leet: Not me (hahahahahaha)

No, I'm just kidding

Leet: Homestar, Legendary Frog, DDR

Not Leet: Clock Tower 3, Most American Style RPGs, the scanned textures on most american games (they look really ugly... You need to design realistic models and build the textures around them, not scan a face on... Make eyes, not eye textures... make lips and a mouth, not just textures for them...)

l33t: Sleep, clean underoos, family, breakfast for dinner, O’doyal, and Halo Parties.

Not l33t: Old socks, new fashions, subspace, bad movies, good terrorists.
Depend on it. God's work done in God's way will never lack God's supply. He is too wise a God to frustrate His purposes for lack of funds, and He can just as easily supply them ahead of time as afterwards, and He much prefers doing so.
- J. Hudson Taylor
I remember that one fateful day when Coach took me aside. I knew what was coming. "You don't have to tell me," I said. "I'm off the team, aren't I?" "Well," said Coach, "you never were really ON the team. You made that uniform you're wearing out of rags and towels, and your helmet is a toy space helmet. You show up at practice and then either steal the ball and make us chase you to get it back, or you try to tackle people at inappropriate times." It was all true what he was saying. And yet, I thought something is brewing inside the head of this Coach. He sees something in me, some kind of raw talent that he can mold. But that's when I felt the handcuffs go on.

Clean underroos: :eyebrow:

O'doyal: As in "O'Doyle Rules!" from Back to the Future (I think)?

Good Terrorists: I think you meant "effective terrorists," but I couldn't agree more.

Halo parties: Hmm, so I'm not the only person in the world that does that? Sweetness.

Time to go reacquiant myself with some Strong Bad. Thanks for the reminders.

Thanks. I guess Biff's family from the Back to the Future movies just really reminded me of the O'doyle's of Billy Madison.

So, is Adam Sandler leet?

Seems to me his movies are either hit or miss.

Hit: Happy Gilmore, Billy Madison.
Miss: Little Nicky, Punch Drunk Love.
