Happy Easter/Resurrection Day!

Postby ClaecElric4God » Sun Apr 05, 2015 8:03 pm

Oh look, this thread hasn't happened yet. The day's almost over, but it can't hurt to throw it in there. Happy Easter everyone! Today marks the event that keeps our faith and hope alive. Praise God for the resurrection of Jesus Christ!

HAPPY Easter to everyone!
And this I pray, that your love would abound still, more and more with real knowledge and all discernment. Be prepared to preach the gospel at a moment's notice. Do you know the gospel well enough to do so yourself? Be ready.

It's still liturgically Easter, so it still counts in my book. Happy Easter!

Amen to all that!

For some reason this has been a very good Easter for me. I have had so many random good things happen to me recently, I can hardly believe it. I've had good success in my most recent programming project. I finally beat Touhou 10 (it was very hard). I just found a bunch of files I'd lost several years ago. I've had good conversations with people recently. I managed to recognize an anxiety trap I was about to fall into and avoided it. I've been gaining confidence in myself (which if you know me I often severely lack). And just all sorts of other stuff, I can't even mention it all. And I just realized how fortunate I am to have effectively infinite clean water within ten feet of me all day.

And to put it all into perspective, my lord is alive! All those other things really don't matter comparatively, but at least they gave me some sort of emotional parallel. They reminded me that the inheritance God has in store for us is made of real blessings. Actual physical resurrection, with real physical and mental happiness. Not just some abstract sense of rightness. Even though there will be times in this life we wish we were dead...hey, even though we all must accept death one day, we have something to look forward to.

Happy belated Easter, everyone! :D

That they lose their health to make money and then lose their money to restore their health. That by thinking anxiously about the future, they forget the present, such that they live in neither the present nor the future. That they live as though they will never die and die as though they never lived."

Happy belated Easter, everyone! Did anyone do anything special or have any traditions you want to share?

For my Eastern Orthodox parish Pascha (Easter) is not until this weekend, so these belated sentiments are actually several days early for me. :P We have a service that starts at midnight and lasts for about three hours. Everyone has candles, and in the completely-dark church a single lit candle is brought out from which everyone else takes light, and we sing resurrection songs and shout the Paschal greeting (usually in several different languages in turns) and hear the beautiful Paschal sermon by St. John Chrysostom. Then after the service we have a meal together in the fellowship hall and eat and drink all the things we were fasting from, and we don’t go home until after 4 AM. But I hear in some places they stay all night and don't go home until dawn.
Let others believe in the God who brings men to trial and judges them. I shall cling to the God who resurrects the dead.

Happy belated Easter to all! :) This was a very special Easter to me. Since I had to leave my original home church, it's been quite a few years since I got to attend a service with a church family on Easter. But these past few weeks a friend of mine has recently resurfaced and invited me to his church, so after visiting this new church for awhile, I finally got to celebrate His resurrection with them.

I have a tradition of going to the store and picking up cheap Easter candy on Monday. Pretty nice haul this year. Happy Easter everybody, now the months long wait until we can buy Cadbury's Creme Eggs again.

Happy belated Easter, everyone!

My family again didn't get together for Easter --so I just hung out at home with the Kitty of Doom after church. Which I sat by myself again during service and it was hard --I won't get into that here, though.

I'm just going through a disheartened and rough time. And holidays are hard.

But it was an okayish day. Had me-friendly cookies and watched Netflix. Nothing fancy.

Because Jesus is alive, I have grace to face today and hope to face tomorrow --and this is just a season of roughness that the Lord will help me through.
"Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal." 2 Corinthians 4:16-18

Ditto. Though I didn't eat a single Peep this Easter, and they were already cleaned out of the stores by the time I got around to shopping. Ah, well.
