Clannad episode 19 - This episode seemed a little odd to me, somehow. Subdued, maybe. I still don't really get why Tomoya doesn't like his dad so much, but I have a feeling it'll all come out eventually.

Welcome to the Space Show. Not a perfect film; the plot could have been tighter, it's very long and I thought some scenes really could have been cut and the characters are a little cookie-cutter, but man, the look of the whole thing just swept all those concerns away for me. I was absolutely blown away by the animation and design. It seems to have been strongly influenced by Summer Wars and The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, but I don't know, maybe I should go see Summer Wars again because I don't remember experiencing this level of sheer wonder as I watched.

Also extra points to anything with a baby R2D2 in the background!

Finished Ouran. It was good, and so hilarious. Oh my gosh eps 22 + 23 had me in stitches. I don't know what to watch now. *Looks at MAL currently watching list: All of this is terrible! (Not really)

Yes, it was Chrome Shelled Regios. I looked it up and it doesn't seem to have any connection with Bleach.

I also polished off Negima! 1, and am starting Negmia?! aka nemiga 2. They aren't that different yet.

I'm re-watching Baccano, watching the dub all the way through for the first time. I really like the dialogue changes that they made and most of the characters' voices/accents don't break my ears anymore.

Watching Time of Eve; it's episodes feel much longer than their actual 15 minutes for some reason. I also watched Pale Cocoon recently and was pleasantly surprised to find footage of that in ToE. They're by the same creators, which is actually quite noticeable once you know.

Also finished The Melancholy of Haruhi-chan Suzumiya and Cencoroll recently. I need to visit the recommendations thread for some more 1 episode shorts, I find I quite enjoy them lately.

In my attempt to watch all the titles which made it into the top 16 in the best anime of the 2000s thread, I started Princess Tutu and sped through the first 6 episodes. I kinda only intended to watch the first episode and go back to it when my currently watching list is a little shorter, but it doesn't look like that's going to happen now. It's a lot funnier than I thought it would be and I didn't really expect that level of "slapstick" but I think it does add to the show's charm. Ahiru's giggle is ridiculously cute.

On a side note, it will be interesting to go back to that thread and see if my votes would have been different if I'd actually seen all of the titles, at the very least the choices would have been harder.

Watched Girls Bravo this week, which I must warn everyone to not watch, let alone buy. In my defense, I watched a few episodes online a few years ago and all the nudity was censored in the version I saw- with a kind of "mist" the likes of which you might see in a show that's actually good that covered up everything so that it appeared rather tame and looked like it had some comedic potential. What I purchased was uncut however, and the result is an almost completely irredeemable piece of trash. Then I watched Welcome to the NHK. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: Didn't like that God was made out to be some kind of villain in a lot of the key episodes at the end. Given the Buddhist, Shintoist, and "Non-religious" make-up of Japan, I wasn't exactly surprised that God was portrayed as being either non-existent or villainous for the creation of a world that, according to many of them, is suffering. Nevertheless I obviously didn't agree with what they seemed to be saying and implying to say the least, and it kind of ruined the show for me. God is goodness himself, and I kept shouting at my TV things like, "But life isn't that bad! Not only is it worth living, as you kept saying through all the suicide stuff in the show, it's a wonderful blessing!"

But now I'm watching my copy of Bamboo Blade and I love it. Finally, a family-friendly kind of show in stark contrast to what I've been watching lately.

Also, is it bad that I just bought the manga volumes 35 and 36 of Fairy Tail through Amazon.jp for the beach OVA? Ahem.

Check your local video store. That's where I watched this. Since it was so old, it was one of the cheap rentals.

Just finished Psycho-Pass. Finished Ano Hana, Ano Natsu de Matteru, Steins;GATE, and the first season of Sword Art Online before that.

Found Psycho-Pass and Stein's;GATE to be more stimulating and the two Ano's and SAO to be a little bit more on the fun side. Good watches overall.

I am working on Xam'd: Lost Memories when I have the opportunity to be at home, but given the rarity of that... I'd like a series to chill out to over lunch while I'm going through my university classes this semester, and I know you lot are the perfect lot to ask about it. Anyone been watching something particularly good lately?

Forgot to mention I finished Casshern Sins, which was just beautiful. Recommended if you can handle the slow pacing.

I finally managed to kill the "What are you watching" thread...

Princess Tutu: I'm 2 episodes (or 4 half-episodes if you will) into the second season and a tiny bit disappointed with the direction they've gone in. SPOILER: Highlight text to read: I love the evil prince concept, but not the "steal-a-heart of the week". On the surface it's not much different from season 1's "heart-shard of the week", but I think that was much better executed and a better concept because there were consequences that carried over each time and influenced the future actions of the characters. Tutu also had to handle each situation separately because each emotion was different and each person affected had different issues that had to be dealt with, making them interesting and distinguishable characters in their own right. The "girl/heart of the week" feels much shallower and just convincing each girl to not give her heart away by reminding her of the things she loves doesn't feel like a challenge that will make Tutu grow and mature much.

Maybe I'm demanding too much but so far the episodes (and ep3 from what I could see in the preview) were extremely repetitive with a status quo reset button at the end. Since I'm not very far with it though, I hope the plot breaks the pattern soon.

I do like the Ahiru-Fakir interactions though and the new baby Edel-san.
