Library War ep.'s 1-12 + the "Situation Love Handicap" special: This was fantastic. :jump: I was hooked right from the very beginning of the first episode, and then I just couldn't stop watching from there on! :)

The show's premise is unusual and interesting; its plot SPOILER: Highlight text to read: pleasantly surprised me a few times in terms of what I had been expecting to happen vs. what actually occurred; all of the main characters were quite likeable; and Kasahara and Doujou's relationship was hilariously adorable.  (It was so fun to see a "similars attract" couple instead of an "opposites..." one for a change, LOL-- especially with their equally sweet-yet-fiery personalities.  {...And also, "chibi" Doujou.  } Oh, and speaking of great couples, Komaki and Marie are, too-- the special ep. featuring them was quite moving. )

I only wish that this series had been longer-- I'd take every extra episode they'd give! :) (But hey, that's what the original novels and the movie-- which, by the way, I now seriously cannot wait to see! :jump: -- are for, right? :thumb: )

Many thanks to Hat for the recommendation! :)
Saved by grace.

Honey and Clover 1-12 - Half-over, and so far so good! I forget how good josei series can be. The loli isn't that irritating, and I feel really badly for the main. I'm wondering how this will all play out.

Go for it... if you're up for a horrifically incomplete ending. No, seriously, they ended the show in the middle of an arc. And they are never going to come back and make an ending for it.

More Honey and Clover. It's very good.

Started watching La Corda d'Oro: Primo Passo. It is a good anime if you have played or like classical music.

I ended up watching three episodes of Kimi ni Todoke and one of Honey & Clover, tonight.
I'm loving KnT, but I'm frustrated by how much it has been resembling American romantic comedies for most of this second season. But it looks like it might be getting a lot better. :)

After Kento, who is the devil, is no longer the focus it becomes totally worth it again.
Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight:
My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me.

So I finally watched Redline last night.

Wow. That was the most fun I've had watching something in a long time. Sure, the ending is a little cheesy and predictable, but who cares when everything leading up to it was so awesome? Everything about this movie was just gorgeous to look at: the character designs, the world, the cars, even the guy getting his teeth punched out. Pretty.

Redline! I honestly feel, without any irony or qualification, that Redline is the best anime post-2000 (by my subjective standards, of course), and I think it's proof that, as strange and off as this sounds, narrative media doesn't necessarily need a great plot or even great characters to be a great experience.

I didn't really think the plot or characters were bad or anything, just really simple. It doesn't have the time to go deep into anything like motivations or backstory, so everything gets boiled down to its awesome, awesome essence: there's a bunch of wackos with crazy cars, and they're having a race in a place where everyone's trying to kill them. That's all there is to it. I get the same feel from One Piece - nearly all the characters' motivations boil down to "I want to be the best X there ever was," but the way Oda's been able to stretch those out into the ungodly insanity it is today, that's what people love about it.

It's not about what you say, it's about how you' say it, and that's what Redline pulls off. Redline's just pure fun to watch - I was grinning all the way through the race scenes - and that's high praise in my book.

Hehehe... I hear you. I was rooting for him to get a punch in the nose
I just hope they can learn to talk to each other. It seems to me in most American romantic comedies that the situations would almost always resolve immediately if the two people would talk to each other instead of mulling it over and making assumptions or talking to other people about it. Not sure if that's because people really do that or because the writers are too lazy to have real relationship growth happen instead of crossed wires.
Glad to hear it gets better. :) I really am loving the show.

Honey and Clover S1 complete - MAN. Whatta ride. And it's not even over yet - GAH! Debating on whether I want to take a break to watch something else before starting the second season or just making a run through it.

Definitely a worthy investment of my money. A fantastic romance and coming-of-age story. Actually, thinking on it, it reminds me a lot of Tatami Galaxy. ... A lot like Tatami Galaxy.

Atria: I'd recommend pushing on through. It felt to me like season two isn't really a separate season but the rest of the season one story. But that's just me.

Tonight, I watched nine episodes of Chance Pop Session. I enjoy it so much, it's hard to stop.

Finished La Corda d'Oro: Primo Passo. It was so good! I started Gosick and I am amazed at how thrilling the first few episodes were! It already seems like it will be an exciting mystery anime.

Baccano! : watched the first season, and I think I finally understood the danged sequence of events...nicely done, there.

Sword Art Online: watching one episode at a time with the hubby, who loves it even though he's never played an MMORPG.

Mushi-shi: had to find an Anime on Hulu during babysitting the other night; the kiddo was asleep so I made it through about 5 episodes. I love how artistic it's been so far. A nice break from the crazy violence of Baccano.

Finished Angel Beats the other day. Man, that show was good. I feel like the ending was rushed and they should've added more about the other characters, and the last scene with Kanade was fairly out of character for Otonashi, bawling like that, but other than that I don't have to many complaints. A great show overall.
But now I have nothing to watch. Sad day.

I enjoyed that a lot. Even though I didn't care for the premise or the plot lines, I still enjoyed the show, because it's so beautiful. It's like a cup of hot green tea savored in a forest shelter looking at the setting sun.

You were entirely right about this. Went ahead and finished S2 today, and it was wonderful! ^.^ Man, this is definitely one of my top anime romances. I think it managed to work through the love triangles in a very mature, interesting way, and I really thought that it did a nice take on a romance between an older woman and younger man (highly unusual, and I appreciated that the woman had some serious issues with being with the younger guy). I was very surprised by Sensei's little confession o.O But in a way, it made complete sense since he was really an emotional rock for Hagu while the boys did their growing up and dancing around. It was -always- there in the background.

@Atria: I had a different interpretation of that part of it. But it's been a little while since I watched the end, so I'll wait to comment further, so I don't say something I might have to disavow.

Tonight, I watched two episodes of Kimi ni Todoke (I love this show, but it's such a tease) and one of Honey & Clover (*sigh* I want to ride on a ferris wheel. And Yuta's right: they are for couples in love. But I think there aren't four seats. There are really just two types of seating for a pair: side-by-side and face-to-face. *sigh*).

Watched NGE episodes 5-9. Now it's starting to remind me of anime today a little. But still deep and unique in its own way (prototype anime always have that feel about them that makes them unique, 'cause they did it first). I really like the addition of Asuka. It's funny when she random says things in German! There were some obvious fanservice (maybe beyond) I did not like concerning when Shinji was delivering Rei's new card. Other than that, this series is definitely something I will continue.

Antique Bakery - Well. This was interesting. It oscillated between SoL/comedy and soap-opera love story. Oh, with some shounen-ai (it actually had a solid mix of hetero and homo characters that really made for some interesting interactions and comedy). I really wish I could digress more on it because there were some really hilarious moments, and even some of the drama worked really well... but I suspect that most on here wouldn't be interested because of the shounen-ai :/
