Actually, I hadn't realized those posts had been made 24 hours apart ^.^" A lot of newer members double-post without seeing that button. It's almost second nature to warn about it.
Believe it or not, I didn't care for the first season that much when I first watched it! It was okay, but so slow that I wasn't sure that I could take a second season before anything happened. Sawako irritated me because she was just so SO innocent and unassuming. It's almost as if she'd been locked in a box her whole life. But I was rewarded for my patience in the second season and looking back, while I still am not as fond of Sawako as I am of other characters, I do appreciate the romance far better than I did the first time around.

Yeah, there were some times when I was surprised at her density, but... really, I think that such a child-like spirit is enviable. And I can relate to her character a bit. I wasn't like her at all, but my situation was somewhat similar.

Finished Oniisama E/Brother, Dear Brother
O God Wwwwwwhhhhhhhyyyyyyyy
This show rocked. Hard. Directing, color pallet, character development, "twists", everything was almost perfect. It made me care about trivial stuff like 'zomg high school doramma' (Most “zomg high school doramma” animus have me gouging my eyes out in general, and for the most part, I haven’t really seen a whole lot of Kaoru-no-Kimis in anime. Or maybe I’m just not perceiving them properly ), yet it also threw really heavy hard-balls that resonated pretty well with me (like Ep 33 & subsequent fallout)--and that ending was... just... perfect. It was refreshing. Especially after the particularly dark tone of the last arc(s).
Favorite character was Tomoko, hands down. But I think the character I found the most interesting was Kaoru-no-Kimi, who possessed Major Kusanagi proportions levels of bad***itude.

Watched a few things tonight, but mostly more Glass Mask. It's fun to watch her grow, and watch most people underestimate her. And I'm loving her rival. Usually, the rival is snotty and clawing, but Ayumi is really classy and always points out that her rival has talent.
I love her lines, often in the vein of "Be glad you don't have to compete with her directly, you little worms, for you're not in her league."

I think the only part I liked in Ghost Hunt was the The Bloodstained Labyrinth arc. [Last time I saw it was in 2009 and I quite frankly can't remember a single thing about it other than the The Bloodstained Labyrinth arc. But from my memory, I think I thought it was somewhere in the 5 to 6 out of ten range.]

Moyashimon 4: Face!earthworms might be one of the most disturbing things I've ever seen.
Casshern Sins 12: It amazes me how this show manages to show all sides of the holding onto hope vs. accepting ruin (death) options in a dying world. [spoiler]Hope can be good (Margo repainting the city/wanting to leave his mark on the world through art) or bad (people -who have previously accepted their fate- attacking Casshern to save themselves). Although it doesn't fit the conventional definition, I do think the latter is a sort of hope.
Alternatively accepting their fate is also shown as good (characters who want to live out their remaining lives in peace as best they can) and bad (the "antagonists" in this episode). Granted a lot of the bad here happens when one set of characters want to force their worldview on another set.[/spoiler]I think it shows that technically two characters can have the same fundamental outlook on their fate but it's who they are that determines their actions.

What I have seen recently:
Mazinger Z vs. Devilman: Dr. Hell awakens three members of the Demon Tribe to fight Mazinger Z while he and his mechanical beasts take care of Devilman. Both heroes team up to take on their respective nemeses.
Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness: An alternate retelling of the end of the series, warrior beasts are sent by the Mikene Empire lead by General Juuma (not the General of Darkness mind you) to conquer the world. Mazinger Z is eventually saved by the new Great Mazinger. This movie heavily reminds me of Destroy All Monsters.
Great Mazinger vs. Geter Robo: The alien bioweapon Gilgilgan is sent to take over the world starting with Japan and it requires the combined efforts of Great Mazinger and the Getter Robo crew to take down the adaptive monster. For some reason this resembles Gamera movies.
War of The Flying Saucers: Not really a Mazinger movie, but it was shown with the one below, has the same run time and staff, and it is the pilot of Grendizer so.... It's basically a sci-fi romance identical to the first few episodes of Grendizer except the enemy home world is called Yaban, the robot's name is Gattaiger (similar to Grendizer no less), and a brief invasion of Earth.
Great Mazinger vs. Getter Robo G: Great Clash in The Sky: The aliens from GMvsGR return with three new monsters to take on Great Mazinger and Getter Robo, the latter of which is destroyed and is replaced by Getter Robo G.
Grendizer vs. Great Mazinger: It's basically an extended Grednzier episode with Great Mazinger guest staring with a new bad guy and three saucer beasts that get destroyed very quickly. This is the only 70s Mazinger movie to have an actual fight with the title characters.
Grendizer, Getter Robo G, Great Mazinger: Monster of The Ocean Floor: My favorite of the eight Mazinger movies, involves a colossal creature called the Dragonsaurus that takes on the three title robots at once and more or less proves it is the most powerful creature created by Go Nagai of that era; I arguably consider Dragonsaurus the most powerful giant monster of the showa era after Vacuumon from Ultraman Jack (who was basically like Galactus from Fantastic Four).
Deathmatch! Mazinkaiser vs. The Great General of Darkness: The longest of the Mazinger movies, takes place I think a year after the OVA does, basically a remake of the second movie except Mazinkaiser actually fights Great General of Darkness (aka Ankoku Daishogun). It is pretty cool, although sadly the title mech doesn't show up until the last ten minutes.
Status on other mecha shows:
GaoGaiGar is quite fun after I got past the first 26 episodes.
And I am rather enjoying Macross 7...from what I get it is the Macrossist of the Macross anime and there's only one anime I can think of that comes close to the pretty demented and crazy plot of Macross 7 and that is AKB0048.
Oh, and Gamlin's one of the more likeable mecha protagonists I have seen.
But sadly, while it is enjoyable I can't call Macross 7 a masterpiece with a straight face, it's far too marred with countless problems for that.
Oh, and saw Those Who Hunt Elves.
Those Who Hunt Elves. So this is where a good chunk of NGE's voice cast went immediately afterwards. I'm sure they welcomed the chance to do some comedy for a change. Tomokazu Seki plays a hilarious man-tsundere, Miyamura is a military otaku and Mitsuishi's high priestess is animal cursed for most of the time, except when it's a beach episode. Michie Tomizawa, who plays Roberta in Black Lagoon, completes the team as a chameleon-like super-actress Airi. They have a fantastic team dynamic, and I can see why the original manga ran 21 volumes. Fascinatingly, even though the story revolves around them forcibly stripping hot elf chicks naked, the show doesn't feel creepily pandering like, to use a recent example, Total Eclipse, which makes me feel like a dakimakura cover strangler. Also fascinatingly, the show completely forgoes the cliched first arc where the Japanese heroes are spirited away to a magical land of high fantasy. Instead, the viewers are dropped right in the middle of Adventure Time, and what little back-story there is is revealed in intentionally deadpan flashbacks. This includes defeating the final boss. The comedy scenarios are often very inventive and unexpected, with my favorite being an episode where the team needs to strip a ghost girl naked. Unfortunately only ghosts can molest ghosts, so they set up a spiritism session in order to facilitate an out-of-body experience. While their souls are temporarily floating elsewhere, the local priest finds their currently vacated bodies, mistakes them for corpses and sends them to be cremated, and much poltergeist fun ensues. There's tons of variety, from straight-up toilet humor to a mission to save genderswapped Giordano Bruno from the Inquisition. The story obviously has no ending to speak of, but in an episodic comedy show it doesn't really matter that much. The manga is untranslated save for the very first chapters, naturally.

I started Ouran High School Host Club. Well it's quite hilarious, but I can't help but be the tiniest bit squicked out by the whole idea of the host club.
The second ep has marginally less roses -but only because they needed to make room for the cherry blossoms. XP
At one point Haruhi (as a host) says to a group of girls who were talking about the upcoming dance something like "It's so cute that you all have dreams." I suspect it wasn't meant to come across that way, but I laughed hard at how hilariously condescending that is, with either the interpretation of a guy saying it to a girl or Haruhi, as a "commoner", saying it to a bunch of rich seemingly air-headed girls with apparently no lives. I was like Oh snap, did she just hectically diss them and they have no idea? Like I said this is probably just my interpretation but yeah, it was very lolwhat.

Finally someone else saw this. Do agree with me that the episode of Jumpei becoming a zealous defender of heliocentrism is the apex of anime comedy; I personally couldn't stop laughing. All the way up there with Samurai Champloo's baseball episode and Hale + Guu's chest hair episode.

Well, the good thing is that they really are just meant to provide conversation and entertainment - it's almost like an intimate dinner theater. I'm just grateful it didn't center around the really common kind of host club, with the guy surrounded by girls.

Started and finished Tsuritama. I loved it to pieces!!! It's been a while since I enjoyed a show so wholeheartedly. If it can withstand the tests of time along with my other favourites, it will totally be in my top 15.

I've been trying to get into some new shows, but mostly, I've just been watching massive gobs of Glass Mask.
But tonight, I managed to pull myself away after only one episode... and start a delightful show called Bunny Drop. She's so cute with her little usagi bedcover and her little usagi shirts and her little usagi doll. This show makes me so happy... and so sad because I want to get married and have a little girl, too. *snif* Oh, I ended up watching four episodes.

Mmm I think what bugs me is the fawning-over-the-guys reaction that the girls have/show, which is a little too much for something that's just supposed to be entertainment. But I am totally thinking about it way more seriously than it's meant to be and it's not like it's impeding my enjoyment of the show. I should probably stop analyzing and just go watch more episodes. I started watching Giant Killing. It is so good that it makes you feel like a fan of the team. Sad when they lose and overjoyed when the team wins. The Prince is my favorite player.

Went to a play tonight, so I only had enough time to watch a little bit of Glass Mask and Usagi Drop, plus the new episode of Robotics;Notes Hulu posted today.
Wish I could watch more, but it's getting very late, and tomorrow is a big day.
