Just finished Phantom: Requiem for the Phantom, and I don't think I really liked the ending... But moral of the story is: becoming a murderer ruins your life.

I'm watching TMoHS for no apparent reason. I don't even watch that kind of thing normally, but it's funny so I'll stick with it. Also, what's with the ep order? I'm watching them chronologically, but still...

And finally, I can watch Hetalia: World Series in dub! Yay! I'm sure it's giving me brain damage, but it's worth it.

Also, I watched Cencoroll, which was delightfully odd. I am really impressed that one person did basically everything for the production!

Seeing it chronologically makes little sense as a televised series: The "climax" is in the 5th episode and the series ends with a rather bland, calm episode. Besides, watching it as it was aired, out of order was part of the gimmick-ness of the series (by the way, at the end of the episode in the previews of next, Haruhi always says the chronologically correct episode number, but Kyon corrects her with the airing number.)

Anyway, even if you watch season 1 chronologically, there are a few episodes that happen after all the episodes in season 2 so you still get some stuff in a wrong order.

Heroic Age 5-10- I don't like this anime. I really don't. It has to shape up rather drastically if I'm not going to start putting off watching this.

I agree, I actually couldn't get past the first episode, let alone 10. haha.

I'll vouch for Heroic Age actually. I mean I don't think it's for everyone, but back when I watched it, I thought it was a generally solid space opera with a few flaws that kept if from being great. You don't see this brand of science fiction very much in anime form anymore, and the epic scope and ambition it has makes it worth giving it a look.

When there was only one season, watching it in the order it aired made more sense. With the addition second season and Disappearance, I see little reason to continue in that tradition. Ah, right. I forgot that they have now mixed both series in one chronologically tidy storyline. Nonetheles, I still believe that The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina makes an amazing episode 1 and that Someday in the Rain is kind of a low point to end the series.

Adventures of Mikuru Asahina 00 is still the first episode in the chronological run and while I agree that Someday in the Rain is kind of sedate, it works better as a closing if you're watching both seasons. And then you get Disappearance right after.

Also, not to derail the topic but just a very needed clarification: it wasn't SOPA or anything that got rid of Megaupload and all its branched services (SOPA is now dead, btw.) Megaupload was closed because its CEO and owner was allegedly found guilty of several actual fraudulent practices only a few of which are related to Megaupload.

Wow, I haven't posted in so long. Oops. >_>;;

Concerning currently-airing anime, I'm managing to keep up with Chihayafuru, and I've picked up Moretsu Pirates (which will be watched somewhat sporadically because of some inconsistencies in my schedule).

Chihayafuru, as of episode 15, is still very, very enjoyable. (Though I understand next week's will be a bit of a letdown.) Focus on serious karuta and dear friendships rather than possible romance (which is playing a miniscule role, contrary to what I was expecting) has been nice so far. Since according to MAL the manga is still publishing, I don't expect the anime to be truly complete at the end of these 25 episodes, and I'm very curious about what its finale will be.

I've only seen one episode of Moretsu Pirates, and since I'm really good at making dumb snap-judgements I don't have much to say on it. What I saw had potential, and based on what I'm hearing about later episodes, this should be a pretty fun ride.

I'm also watching Nichijou with two of my siblings. It's hilarious and absolutely ideal to watch in a library. Mio and Yuuko remind me of my sister and me. We'd totally start cracking up after spending hours trapped in an elevator.

Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG has begun airing on adultswim (again?). First episode was satisfactory, and I'm excited to see where it goes. I enjoyed the first GitS: SAC, and I expect to love this, too.

Watched Redline on Sunday. That was fantastic! I was concerned what with all the hype but it lived up to it. What a great love letter to 70's and 80's Sci-Fi films! It was lots of fun. I recommend it to all just be cautious of the fact that their is a nude scene in it.

I just finished the first xxxholic series and now I am watching xxxholic-kei. Probably one of the better series that I have watched in a while.

I decided to take the plunge and see the rest of Ghost Hunt. I'm glad to report that it improved from episode to episode... Although, milimetrically. That is to say that it went from a 5 to a 6 out of ten. The extremely shallow characters that only experienced a tiny sprout of growth in the very last episodes coupled with the weirdly outdated production values (seriously, who uses PowerPoint-like transitions between scenes anymore?) badly detracted from what otherwise were competently told horror stories.

Ah yes, that OVA will always have a special place in my heart. It was the very first anime I purchased (a fansub in a VHS casette, fifth generation of copy judging by the quality -which was the only way to get any anime in my country back in the 90s)

I just finished the first xxxholic series and now I am watching xxxholic-kei. Probably one of the better series that I have watched in a while.

Just in time to vote for it in the "Best Anime of 2008" thread! Anyway, if you like XXXholic, the manga is infinitely better, I think.

Yes, yes, yes! Just finished. Utterly gleeful. Adored it. =) I kind of want to go back and rewatch it now....except I have other things to read and watch. Ah well! It did not disappoint me in the slightest. =)

So I haven't posted in here in a while because LOGH, but I watched a couple other things I can talk about.

Tales of Earthsea was much better than I expected it to be, which is not to say it was actually good. Prince's motives were pretty dumb and it needed to be much better paced and also actually explain things, but ultimately, it's pretty uninteresting, even though it could have been a good movie if Miyazaki the Elder had actually helped his son, rather than just letting him loose, even though that's not how he rose up. I enjoyed it, though. I like crappy fantasy.

Gungrave is a kind of interesting show for what it is. Design work from Yasuhiro Nightow of Trigun fame and based off of a video game about the mob but also with sci-fi elements, it's definitely not the kind of show you see all the time. It also had a really strong start, with some dark moments and really great chemistry between the main two characters. However, for me, after they joined Millennion it got really uninteresting as Brandon and Harry lost most of their chemistry(this is partly because since Brandon is just really, really, really quiet rather than mute) and the fact that none of the Millennion characters are very interesting or have much chemistry, which contrasts with Brandon and Harry's old pals. However, once the flashback ends and Brandon is on his hellbent quest of revenge, the show gets really good again, and the ending is one of the best I've seen. Maybe you will like flashback arc more than I did, if so, definitely check it out.

Samurai Champloo is great. Watch it, love it, love Mugen because he's wonderful. More Shinichiro Watanabe please.
