La Pucelle, Disgaea or any other strategy rpg

Postby Zedian » Sun May 23, 2004 5:53 pm

I am looking for a strategy rpg aside from classics like FF Tactics, Tactics Orge or FF Tactics Advanced. Has anyone played Disgaea or La Pucelle, both are made by the same creators....I just wanted to know if they were worth buying. If not those got any other good suggestions ?

Disgaea and La Pucelle rock like none other. Well worth buying.

a few other good ones are Vandal Hearts/Vandal Hearts 2.....Shining Force 1-3.......Dynasty Tactics 2.....and definately keep your eyes on Front Mission 4 by Square, should be release early next month for the PS2.....

If you enjoy strategy RPGs like Final Fantasy Tactics, than Disgaea and La Pucelle: Tactics are probably your best bets currently.

I'm up to about the sixth or seventh chapter in Disgaea. Haven't yet played La Pucelle but it got some good reviews.

Disgaea is pretty fun and has a lot of options to tinker around with. The storyline is mostly based on humor (and it ranges from amusing to quite hilarious) so don't expect something very deep but it fits the game very well. The gameplay is great.

Nippon Ichi made a bit of a name for themselves when Disgaea was released and it became somewhat of an underground hit. The only game of theirs that was ever brought to the states before Disgaea was a quirky PS1 RPG called Rhapsody: A Musical Adventure which got considerably mixed reviews.

Also Disgaea is pretty rare, as Atlus has a bad habit of only releasing a limited amount of copies of the games that they localize but they are fixing to re-release it in the US pretty soon.

I just recently picked up La Pucelle and I love it. I always hold a soft spot for 2D graphics visuals and strategy-rpg gameplay elements so it's a no wonder why I love this game so much. I still am in the beginning but so far so good.
