My father made a shed that is full of little trains that run on little electric tracks. About 30 of them.
Also, I have about 9 VHS tapes and 12 DVDs of Train Rides.

Why thank you kind sir! I'll let you all know how the train was once I've been on it. xD Don't actually know when I'm going yet. It's a rather random trip down to see my cousin. Haven't been to NC since I was around 15 I think. xD

Pfft. Who needs trains when there's the Internet? Then again the internet can't physically transport you so trains have some cool points there. ^^

Trains are cool.

There's a train station where I'm going to school. It's active, running AmTrak engines; diesels; don't know what kind. I'm surprised people still ride trains, but it's actually a very nice way to travel I've heard.

I've heard it's a pretty fuel-efficent travel method. Also, I think most trains in the U.S. nowadays are in cities, where car traffic can get unbearably slow.

On-topic, I have no memories of riding a train (though my mom says I was on one when I was little), but I'd like to. Also, I'll be writing a book sometime involving trains, so I've studied them a bit and they're neat.

Wait. You are going to write a book about trains and you have never been on one (Or at least remember it)? That's the same as writing an essay.

Well, writing a book involving them. The ones that show up will be slightly different from real ones due to worldbuilding (fire magic! steam power! :D), so some details will be different anyway. I'd still like to ride one (closest thing I remember being on was, I think, an old cablecar), but unless I suddenly get an opportunity to travel quite a ways away, it's not happening. So I'll be doing a *lot* of research, at least for early drafts.

And... I'm not sure what you mean about essays. o.o?

Interestingly enough: I've heard from several people that steam engines are actually more efficient than diesel. Go figure. However, diesel is better for moving slow (I guess that's because it's hard to slow down a steam engine).

Yeah, many trains run in cities, and there are quite a few that run from cities out to airports. Maglev (magnetic levitation) trains are used in these scenarios because they're fast, fuel efficient, and it doesn't cost nearly as much to run some magnet track out to an airport as it does between major cities.

Something you might consider for your stories is cost and feasibility of production: is it possible to build a track over the terrain in a specific region of your world? where do the resources to build these trains come from? how much does it cost? etc

Interesting.

And yup, those are all questions I'll address during the world-building process. (Which for this story has been put aside because I'm doing something else for NaNoWriMo.) :)

"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." We have the biggest set of Thomas trains ever. I now use them for when I babysit. We build the biggest tracks ever.

Wooden tracks, and the cars connect with silver magnets? Or a different kind?
