I finally got around to watching my Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind dvd. I really liked the design of the insects and Sea of Decay. I watched the sub but heard the dub is good too so I'll check that out too eventually. For a good part of the first half I though Nausicaä was flying around with no pants on.

I also rewatched the first 3 episodes of Kaiba in an effort to catch up with the let's watch, don't know if I'll manage it.

Rahxephon episodes 7 - 18

I've been marathoning this one since I have to find out what happens next... 0_o
This show is soooooooo good, though. I hope it ends well, if it does then it's going into my top 15.

9/10

Edit:

Finished Rahxephon. ( -_-; I really don't feel like marathoning again any time soon though, it's bad for my eyes. )
It was an amazing series, with a great cast of characters. The ending though, was rather weird, weirder then I thought it'd be anyhow.
I have to say, watching odd looking alien-angel thingies fighting to see whos world gets to be 'reborn' was really stupid, and the strange old dude who was shot... welll, I didn't like him. I can see how the creaters of this were drunk, that was stupid. x_x And, I liked the ending for Haruka and Ayato... but what happened to everyone else? D:
The ending was way too weird and the epiloge wasn't good enough so.... I give a 8/10 to a show that would otherwise get a 9/10.

All that wierdness probably comes from the fact that it's very, very similar to NGE. And in general, NGE is kind of wierd.

Oh, come now... it wasn't a TOTAL letdown.
First off, the hapiness was WELL-EARNED - especially on tenma's part! That's about all I have to say about that :P
All in all, I just feel like the thing to love in the series is the deep questions it brings up. Those questions were all either answered or left hanging in a way open for opening that satisfied me, so I was happy.

well animated action and interesting plot. Recommend to watch the anime (and read manga) in this chronological order. Any Darker Than Black fans out there? ]

Haha... I already answered the call in the other thread you posted that on ;) My love for the series still stands :jump:

Still watching Soul Eater, about halfway now....

I am a fan. Mostly of Death the Kid's OCD. XD

It does seem this show seems to love blood and snot, though. The action scenes are amazing. The scythe is such an awkward weapon, but in this show, they make you thing you could actually use one with speed and skill. :)

Finally forced myself to watch to Kuroshitsuji. To be perfectly honest, I didn't even finish episode one before I totally quit. xD Definitely full of satanic ritual (especially the star) and most especially makes God look bad right in the first seconds of the beginning. o-e Very dark and creepy. Plus I did a lot of research on it and I'm totally swayed to never watch this anime. xD I don't even think I'm brave enough for the manga. . . And I like dark and gothic things. . .

Winter Garden - Finished

This was... kind of a stupid ova series. I mean it wasn't that great and I have no desire to watch Di Gi charat. Why was this on my list? I don't even remember how I heard about it but it was just a bleh thing over all.

4/10.

Soul Eater 1-4- Yeah, finally getting around to watching it. In dub, nonetheless. So far... really like it. I like the halloween-like atmosphere, I like the action (so smooth, so gread!) and the dub isn't half-bad! Yes, I do take issue with Soul's voice- I lived next to a junior high my entire life, and if anyone thinks that's the right voice for that age they are fooling themselves- but I really like everyone else. Very good choices all around... except for Soul!

EDIT: Well, I'm getting used to it, but I still think it's just a tad too low.

@Smileloviene: Yeah, Tenma and everyone deserved a happy ending for sure, I just didn't feel like they had earned it QUITE yet. The final showdown should have gone on longer, Johan should have revealed more of his motives and such. I dunno, I guess no matter what I wasn't going to be satisfied, the journey and the build up to the end was just impossible to top.

@Atria: Soul Eater is awesome! One of the best dubs of all time, IMO. And...I think it's kind of silly to complain about Soul's voice. Pretty much every anime does that and, really, do any of them look or act their age? I hardly pay attention to what age the characters are supposed to be in anime anymore, best to just go with it. =P

Trigun: Badlands Rumble (sub): Literally just got done watching this movie (thanks to my having made sure that I had the first hold on it at the library when it was put on preorder there months ago! ;)), and all I have to say is that it's a perfect midquel to the TV series, and I loved it! :thumb::thumb:

Why shouldn't I complain about characters not sounding their ages? Just because every dub does do it doesn't mean that they should. Yeah, they might not act their ages a lot of the time, but there are limits to how far my suspention of disbelief will be stretched. Fantasy is fantasy, but that doesn't change when puberty happens.

I see you are watching Soul Eater right now too. :)

I agree with Soul's voice sounding too old for his supposed age. (I find that Soul's English VA sounds scary similar to Johnny Young Bosch. And though tons of people complain that Black Star sounds nothing like a male, I find that VA did an excellent job.)

EDIT: Decided I would check to see what ages they were.... This whole time I thought they were about 15-16, you know, the standard shonen age.... Soul is rumored to be 13...

Most of the time, they make the protagonist the age of the viewer/reader, to make it easier to relate to... And there is no way at 12, 13 years old I would have been allowed to watch this show.

Heck, the age rating for this on youtube is at least 14... And over 18 for at least 2 episodes, too.

So you liked it then? That`s a relief: a lot of people have had mixed feeling about it. I had wanted to order it on amazon, but I`m kinda broke at the moment, haha. :D

The standard shounen age actually runs from 12-16, so I'm not surprised that they're younger. Japan has different standards for what's acceptable at what age, and Soul Eater is perfectly acceptable for ages 10 and up.

I'm not talking about dubs, I'm talking about the whole anime industry in general. No one ever acts their age regardless of if it's in Japanese or English. Naruto has twelve year olds running around killing things with super powers (several characters all having deep voices, like Sasuke and Gara). Bleach claims that Ichigo is 15 but have you ever seen a 15 year old as tall and as built as he is?

The only shonen anime/manga I've seen where a character acts and sounds his age is Gon from Hunter X Hunter. He's as naive and lighthearted as a twelve year old is supposed to be and he becomes stronger over time, yet still keeping his childish nature.

So I finished the first half of Digimon Xros Wars and then started Digimon Xros Wars: The Evil Death Generals and the Seven Kingdoms
The first half was awesome and ended so spectacularly. The only complaint I had with it was I felt that Kiriha kind did a 180 in personality. I know that he showed signs of becoming a good guy but the previous episodes he would go into this full fledged evil mode and then all of a sudden that's gone and he is complete good guy just a little emo like Yamato or Kouji. Still it was awesome and the evil death generals is proving to be awesome too. I can't wait for the new series!

I don't think you can hold up fantasy series to being 'realistic' in having powers (but in Naruto characters do act their ages, though). Killing things? Yeah, I can buy that too- there are child soldiers out there. It's not pretty, but they exist. And I definitely have seen 15 year olds as tall and built as Ichigo. My highschool had a number of them, surprisingly, but we were also a really large school.

So yes, those things I can deal with. They might be slight stretches, but I can deal with them. Voices being completely wrong? That just blows my belief and patience out of the water.

Soul Eater 5-11- Yep! Still enjoying it. And I think it's getting better as I watch. These fights are amazing to watch!

I've just watched the first two episodes of Wolf's Rain. And it is amazing. And allthough I'm watching it in subs, I think it's really cool that Johnny Yong Bosch does the English voice for Kiba.

I've also been watching episodes of Fma:B periodically.

I'm impatiently waiting for the finale of Blue Exorcist, which should be up on Crunchyroll on Wednesday. Word has it there's going to be a movie coming out, too, which picks up where the finale leaves off. I hope that doesn't mean that it's a cliffhanger ending!

I guess I'm also getting back to my "watching the classics" habit. Just this morning I started watching Haibane Renmei. I saw the first two episodes, and it is very tempting to just finish off the first disk. There is something about this show that makes me want to curl up and watch the whole thing. Unfortunately even Sunday is too busy a day for marathoning anime.

This may surprise you, but I watched some anime.

Steins;Gate is an excellent adaptation of a good time-travel visual novel and surprisingly builds on modern myth.
Usagi Drop is a perfect adaptation of the manga's better half.
Sacred Seven was a classic Sunrise sci-fi/high school trainwreck.
Tiger & Bunny was a fun and excellent show that actually had a surprising injection of originality.
La croisée dans un labyrinthe étranger is an excellent iyashikei show set in an almost authentic 19th century Paris (except for its anachronistic typography).
Kamisama no Memo-chou, for the most part, was infuriating because of its awful, milquetoast main character, but the final arc and the last episode in particular made it palatable.
Nichijou is one of the best comedies in a while and has the best animated action scenes.
Hanasaku Iroha took a little detour from where I was expecting it to go and went in a far more conservative route, but was enjoyable nonetheless.
Natsume Yuujinchou is friggin Natsume Yuujinchou and I will be back for more in January.
Dantalian no Shoka was a decent show, but Dalian really carried it.
Ao no Exorcist was actually pretty good before it derailed into Sad Satan in Snow.

I've finished watching the Irresponsible Captain Tylor. It was absolutely wonderful and I definitely recommend this series as a must see. All of the characters are loveable, and the comedy is gold most of the time. Add this to an interesting setting that's a parody of space soap operas and you get exactly what I just called it—something that's absolutely wonderful.

I'm moving on to the movies and OVAs, so we'll see how those go down.

I've also watched Patlabor: The Movie recently. It was pretty good, though some little instances of improbability annoyed me, it all comes down to entertainment and I think the characters made the movie.

I watched the first episode of Fate/zero, and I must say that ufotable definitely didn't disappoint for the first episode! Now that I know it'll be 25 episodes long, they'll have plenty of room to adapt the novels so long as they don't drag something out.

Finally, I shall soon begin my voyage into Usagi Drop and Princess Tutu.
