I felt like the concept had a lot of potential, but the execution was really poor. If it had been more subtle I would probably have enjoyed it a lot, but as it was I felt like the drama was over the top and utterly ridiculous rather than affecting. I got tired that all there was to it was the characters screaming at each other and crying.Atria35 (post: 1503324) wrote:Okay, and of course, this is where I simply must ask why!

Yeah, I enjoyed Ano Hana but I can definitely thing that all your things to say about it are pretty true in retrospect. It was fun to watch when I did, but you're pretty much right.Cadence (post: 1503455) wrote:I felt like the concept had a lot of potential, but the execution was really poor. I could tell it was trying really hard to get an emotional reaction out of me but left me feeling...absolutely nothing. Failing to get an emotional response from me of all people (I'm extremely sentimental and cry in everything) is really pretty hard to do. Add to that the deus ex machina that started appearing in the middle, and the fact that I found Menma and her "uguu I am cute" antics extremely annoying, I ended up having a poor opinion of it.
Though, I guess I can see why other people love it so much.
Sort of. /shrugs
blkmage is actually referring to watching stuff as it comes out on Japanese TV, so it would be pretty easy for an (English-speaking) member of any country since we're all using the internet to do so.Warrior 4 Jesus (post: 1503345) wrote:Blkmage, we have very little anime on TV in Australia so I forget that sometimes but it makes perfect sense.
Wut. Hat...how could you say this...the ED was Secret Base ~Kimi ga Kureta Mono~. It was Secret Base, for crying out loud (though, admittedly, the original version is better than the AnoHana version. And I am kind of bitter that every ZONE performance of it on YouTube is now spattered with "MEEEENNNMAAAA!" comments. But still...Secret Base).Mr. Hat'n'Clogs (post: 1503627) wrote:Also the OP is so much better than the ED.

While, as a rule, I am not a fan of people who lie, you should listen to Maokun anyways.Maokun (post: 1504285) wrote:Now go and watch The Girl Who Leapt Through Time by the same director. It's even better!
Durarara!! episodes 1 - 9
Wow, so this show is highly... unexpected.
I mean the plot is getting really complex and the characters... Well, I think all of them are insane to different degrees.
My favorite is Celty though. =3
(Isn't crazy that the headless Fairy is the most sane character? Besides Mikado anyway.)
And I love the music. *_* Oh, and the artwork is fantastic.
So when I said it was unexpected, I meant unexpectedly good; and quite amazing.
