Picked up Nana and Blood+ due to eternalprincess' urging to watch.

Nana episodes...um...14-15? -- I really like this already. Definitely need to start it from the beginning. :6:

Blood+ eps. 1-5 -- Wow. I honestly didn't think I would really like this (and expected it to be gorier), but so far I'm quite enjoying it! Feels very...vampire Claymore.

Finally saw Castle of Cagliostro today. It was a heck of a lot of fun with really nice animation and the dub didn't make me want to stab myself in the ears. Thumbs up.

Finished watching Durarara!!!

For the last several episodes, my biggest complaint is that everything could have been resolved so much more simply if
Sonohara had gone to Kida and explained to him about being the Slasher. She knew that both gangs were blaming each other for the Slasher incidents, and she also knew that Kida was the leader of the Yellow Scarves, so she had all the information she needed, but she overlooked the obvious solution. Also, It’s frustrating to watch an initial misunderstanding being further compounded by human stupidity—like when Kida confronts Sonohara, he says all the wrong things to her, and she runs away.
There are a couple of other very minor things I could carp at—but there are also at least as many, if not more, details that I could point out that were things I really enjoyed, like seeing real buildings and streets that I’ve either walked past or been in, the コラララ soda that appears now and then throughout the anime (mimicking the name of the series), or various really cool things that characters said (even a couple of the characters I disliked most got in one really awesome line apiece by the end).

But leaving aside the details, the characters were mostly very enjoyable, the plot was mostly well-executed, and I thought that the denouement was very well done for an anime based off of a novel series that is still ongoing. I felt that most of those few things that were left unresolved were fine the way they were. It would have been nice to see
Izaya and Namie get more of a comeuppance
but one can't have everything. Overall, I enjoyed this show highly, and I would be willing to watch it again.

Fist of the North Star Pentology

This is a series of 3 movies and 2 OAVs released about 5 years ago in order to help Japanese kids understand what their dads and uncles were so crazy about. The first four parts focus on memorable parts of the original story, which look amazing in modern animation, while the final part is a new story that takes place between parts of the timeline. I should mention that they do not take place in strict chronological order, so if a dude that died in part 3 shows up in part 4, this is why. These shows are pretty awesome overall, and I think it's a great way to introduce Hokuto no Ken to neophytes without making them commit to a 108 episode TV series or a 27 volume manga,

It's really tough to describe what Fist of the North Star actually is with any due justice because it's such a huge property (in pretty much the entire world except north America, due to the bungling of the series' release over here on several occasions). FotNS is a post-apocalyptic action/martial arts story that set the agenda for modern shounen action stories. It's about secret techniques, exploding heads, the complex relationships between three brothers, and manly tears. So many manly tears.

Now, this is definitely a starter set, meant to entice you to go see/read the whole thing. When certain characters die in the Pentology, people who haven't been following their stories for dozens of chapters/episodes might not feel the full emotional weight of the situation. Also, some of the original seiyuu such as Akira Kamiya are not present in these shows, so Kenshiro's performance isn't quite up to this level, though it is very good.

But that's all OK because I know that people will jump straight into the TV series after seeing these, right? Right? RIGHT??

Invincible Superman Zambot 3

Zambot 3 is a 70s Yoshiuki Tomino directed super robot show that is known for being depressing, but it's also very very good. Tomino was fresh off of working on stuff for the Robot Romance trilogy (Combattler V, Voltes V and Tosho Daimos) and wanted to apply what he learned there (robot shows can have a plot!) and also take the next step.

It's pre-Gundam, but it's decidedly Tomino: marginalized group of people who posses a unique weapon fight a defensive war against invaders. Zambot 3, however, proves to be some of Tomino's best execution of that outline. What really helps it is that it's only 23 episodes. It ddin't get canceled or anything; Tomino just got in, said what he wanted to say, and got out. So, though this is a monster of the week series, it doesn't get too, too monotonous.

Speaking of monsters, Zambot 3 boasts my personal favorite enemy mech designs. I should clarify that by enemy designs I don't mean the design of either the main antagonist's machine or a standard issue machien that shows up over and over and over. Each enemy, known as a Mecha Boost in the show, is uniquely designed. They certainly bear a resemblance to a lot of Go Nagai's kaiju meets mecha designs, but one can also see that the designer for Gurren Lagann was influenced by this show a lot.

As far as the show being depressing, it is but not hopelessly so and not all the time. There's a gradual build to the real heart-wrenching stuff, and it seemed to be more...I dunno...meaningful (?) than Ideon, which seemed to be wallowing in hopelessness at times.

If anyone is interested in older robot shows, Zambot 3 is not a bad place to start actually. It's a good representation of a seminal director for the genre, it's short(er than most robot shows) and the storyline is pretty compelling.

No. 6 ep. 3 -- So far, this is really the only airing thing I'm getting excited about each week. Sci-Fi dystopian conspiracy? Probably my favorite plotline. Episode 3 did not disappoint. :) Although this does not feel particularly fast-paced, I am enjoying it just being what it is enough to not mind.

Thinking about watching Dantalian, Sacred Seven and maybe Penguindrum and being just kind of whatever to the rest...we shall see.

Started Natsume Yujincho. I love the artwork. It's absolutely beautiful. I'm still torn on the story line though. Other than that, [C] episode 11 and Gosick episodes 15-16.

Currently watching Gosick episodes 1 - 6.
I am an avid fan of anything with mystery (I adore Agatha Christie's Novels and short stories.), so I really like that aspect of the show. Also I think Kujo is a fantastic, refreshing change of pace... Most of the male characters in the animes I've seen aren't like him.
Victorique is really cute too, and I love her little white pipe that she always 'smokes' while she thinks. xD

I just finished up a Gosick marathon, watched episodes 7 - 17.
It's gotten better, Victorique has been much more likeable and I really enjoyed a few of the mysteries.
I do find it annoying however, that when ever Kujo is asked why he protects Victorique, he just shouts, 'Because we're friends!' or 'She's my friend!'. >> Is he seriously that dense?
Btw, Victorique's dad? Very creepy. I hope her mother or somebody else does something horrible to him, what a weirdo. -.-

I wrapped up Gosick today, the ending left me with mixed feelings...
I loved the fact that Victorique escaped and made it to japan to be with Kujo, I'm really happy he lived and kept his legs, that weird dream he had made me worried he lost them in the war or something. However, the fact that Cordelia and both Brian's died made me super sad since I wanted Victorique to be able to finally hug her mother... She never did, that sucks. D: I also wasn't too sure what to think of the ending between Grevil and Jacqueline... I mean I didn't really like him much, but i do think it's unfair that the woman he loved ended up with someone else. 0_o Now I'm not sure if it means Jacqueline is going to cheat on her hubby or what. xD
I give it a 8/10. It needed a few more episodes in between 22 and 24. :eyebrow:

I watched the sixth and final Break Blade movie today. As a whole the series of (short, one-hour) movies was fine but no more than that. They served up some enjoyable stompy and stylish giant robot action but the story didn't go very far and -- of course -- I have a few CG quibbles. It probably didn't help that the manga's still being produced.

Not sure I'd recommend these movies to someone who wasn't already pretty interested in giant robots.

In Suite Precure news, Cure Beat's hair seems to make electric guitar noises whenever she touches it. This is just the right amount of ridiculous.

Yeah, Break Blade was only really worth watching for the mecha action and not much else. I mean, I know the manga is still going so it wasn't going to end well, but I'm still left wondering what the point of watching it was.

also, gj, I probably wouldn't have known what was going on if you didn't include 'Possibility!' there

Natsume Yujincho, ep. 1--Watching it with my brother and sister. I'm expecting it to be good, and have enjoyed what I've seen.

Tokyo Godfathers--For some reason whenever I heard the title of this movie I imagined some Japanese Mafia bosses doing stuff. Which is not correct. XD Anyway, I enjoyed this movie a lot. I can't think of anything intelligent to say about it, so if you're curious you're better off going back a page and finding TheSubtleDoctor's post.

And there's Durarara and FMA: B on adult swim. And InuYasha because I find it entertaining in what is probably an unkind way and I'm too lazy to get off the couch.
