I loved it.
It fixed everything that went wrong with the tv series and made it better.
(Of course, you had to have watched the anime first to understand what was going on a lot of the time. That didn't bother me, in fact I thought it was pretty cool.)
That's a nice point, well-put. The special edition booklet says the film's interested in how development in Tokyo is (or maybe, given when the film was made, was) replacing older styles of building.
