In that culture, making eye contact can be considered flirtatious if you're female, and how many of the Arab guys flirt back is...well interesting. They propose marriage by offering camels. Kind of like they are trying to buy something at the market. Except...they have no camels. I can't think of a girl on our trip that avoided this. Even our teacher's 14 year daughter got hit on in this fashion. Oh and most of the guys doing this were in their mid 40s...and they really liked blondes. So yeah, when in Israel, don't make eye contact...at all.
Oh, there was also that time that MSP was "stalked" by someone at school. But he should be the one to tell that story...

I've noticed quite a few cultures tend to like blondes, probably because it doesn't exist naturally in their own culture.

The cutest thing ever is how some of the locals get all excited (others just stare awkwardly, which is also funny) about seeing foreigners. It's like people recognizing your character at an anime con except this is real life and people want a picture of the way you actually look every day, XD.
LadyRushia (post: 1477970) wrote:Oh, and I guess another vaguely interesting man story I have happened in China. There was this one kid at school over there who found out I knew a little Japanese and would randomly talk to me about it as if I could give him lessons. Don't ask me how he figured that one, XD. Anyway, people vaguely started shipping us and I was like "lol no." Of course, we all teased each other like that, pairing everyone off with everyone else.

He made jokes about things like asking me to shower him and he would make comments about my body. After a couple weeks I asked him (with my roommate present to back me up) to leave me alone. He asked why and I straight up told him he was being creepy. He turned to my roommate. "Am I creepy?" "Yeah."
Fortunately he listened and didn't talk to me again after that.

First one- I was in England, and I'd gone out with my friends to celebrate one of them having a birthday. I went up to the bar and was waiting for them to finish making my drink, and this 40 year old guy started hitting on me. I'm pretty sure he was drunk, and he had a wedding ring on! I got those drinks and found my friends again ASAP!
The second, I was still in England and walking back to my Homestay family's place. It was dark, late, I was alone, and this Spanish dude walks up behind me. "Hey! Are you American? Want to go out for drinks?" I was like, no. I have to go. I mean, this dude followed me and kept insisting I go out for drinks with him, even grabs my hand and kisses it! Thankfully we weren't the only ones on the street and I randomly pointed out some dude and said I was meeting him- he was my boyfriend. The guy left me alone after that.

I have to admit, the drunk man in the bar was the easy one- very friendly, let me go with no problems. The second one was scary ><" And disgusting- I could feel the slobber on my hand for days afterward!
Mr. SmartyPants (post: 1478213) wrote:By the way, guys, ENGRAVE this in your heads: If a girl is interested in you then she will make time for you. The only exception to the rule is that she genuinely is super busy to the point of not being able to schedule a time for a guy. But even that is very rare. So "I'm really busy" or "I have a lot to do" is their way of saying "I'm not interested" without saying "I'm not interested". If this happens and you want another shot then do it again maybe a week or so later. If she says the same thing then it's time to move on. Nobody wants a desperate person. Argue all you want with how the system is, but that's how they play.
