how often do you curse?

Talk about anything in here.

how often do you curse?

Postby rocklobster » Sat May 07, 2011 5:20 pm

I'm not that much of a curser. You have to get me REALLY angry for me to do it, and even then I draw the line at saying the Lord's name in vain. (although, using other curse words besides that probably isn't much better.
So, what about the rest of you?

I tend to use words like crap, hell, and b**stard quite a lot. I will definitely think of the stronger swear words such as s or f bombs but I only whisper them to myself. I rarely say them out loud.

It's not something I'm really proud of, it's just a bad habit.

Definitly a bad habit of mine. I even think or say curses when I'm just talking to myself or thinking through a scenerio.
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Occasionally. More often than rare, less often than once in a while. I think I use them in my head more often than I say them out loud. I definitely use the d-word the most often. Not around any but my closest friends or unless I've hurt myself, though, so I suppose it's not too bad?

It doesn't bother me much, though- I'm used to talking to my brother, who's picked up a bit of a mouth from his friends and classmates.

I've cursed when I smashed my pinkie toe and broke it when walking out of the bathroom. I almost never curse. If I curse, it's when no one's around and I don't scream it. I haven't cursed in a long time. I use the word crap all the time, if I'm angry, I'll use hell. I feel bad for cursing though. It's so ugly.
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." I remember when my sister's alarm went off in the middle of the night one time it scared me so bad that I sat up straight and was all like, "Sh**!!!" XD;;; But no, I VERY rarely curse. Okay when I get really mad I sometimes do under my breathe, but that's rare too. XD
Anyway, my answer is rarely or never.

If I am among friends or people whom I know aren't offended by it, I swear like a sailor, especially if I'm playing video games that I really suck at. But I have a different opinion on "bad words" than most people do; I see it as more like talking very informally rather than talking "dirty".

All of this. I really don't have a problem with it, but I do tend to avoid it when around certain people.

I only say the D word and crap. Actually, I say crap a lot. XD But I rarely rarely use the D word, and that's only when I'm either by myself, or have my bestest best friend with me. And even more rare is the time when I say it out loud.

Though when I'm mad, I can cuss like nuthin else. But that doesn't happen very often.

I rarely curse. I don't see the reason to it. You can express yourself or let out your anger in a different way. But it would slip out if I get waaay suprized or angry honestly.

But I usually use the alternate way, by saying frig, crud, or heck. That's pretty much it.

The funny thing about the Angry Video Game Nerd is, in real life, he's quite a shy nice guy. He's relatively soft spoken.

Normally only to myself when I'm alone or at home, never around church folk, but it happens a good deal at work. I work around people who do it all the time and it just makes it happen more. =/
It is something I have been trying to work on though.

Yeah, I should mention that like others, even though I use "bad" language constantly, I hold back from using it in the company of others who are bothered by it, out of respect.

This pretty much my answer. ^_^ I am actually averse to swearing but I don't have a problem with derivatives. Unfortunately though, I let myself go with my late life experiences and lost a bit of control on that for a bit. But better now. don't swear very often anymore.

I used to swear all the time, nothing was out of bounds except blaspheming, even before I was saved.

Then I stopped almost completely with maybe one or two if I didn't watch myself.

Lately I've been doing it more often again though, but it's because I spend a lot of time with people who swear and I started doing it more without realizing it at first. Trying not to though.

I don't, not out loud, anyway. If I feel the need to, I use mineral or rock names; it's a little more creative (and dorkier, probably) than the standard words, and there's some classics out there.

Rarely. The most I normally I say crap, heck, darn, etc at the strongest. On a couple of RARE occasions I almost have muttered certain "swear" words, such as h*ll, b**ch, and b*****d. But I either quickly change the word, or just whisper it under my breath. Most of my swearing is actually in my head, and there a couple of s and f bombs have scattered in my mind, along with every other swear word I know.

I went with the "Rarely or never" option. I never curse out loud. Sometimes if I'm really fired up, I'll come *close* to it, but I stop and pray to get the words out of my head before they come out of my mouth. Honestly, I'm not proud of some of the things I even think of... :-/ I'm trying to get them out of my head, which is a lot easier said than done.

I tend to do a lot of cursing at a time, but go a while between batches. I curse up a bunch of useful gear every two-three months, and strew it about in local dungeons just to mess with unwary adventurers.

(What? You want a real answer? Okay, the real answer is that I think the question itself is faulty because it conflates cursing with profanity and vulgarity, rather than dealing with it as properly defined.)
The cake used to be a lie like you, but then it took a portal to the deception core.

Yeah I rarely curse especially around areas where I know I shouldn't. However around close friends if I'm trying to make a point I'll say "s**t" instead for more importance or if we are just goofing around I may say something. But with these instances it is very rare.

Mostly I say crap all the time. I do not consider crap a cuss word. lol To me it's just like saying fart.

If you say crud you're saying the substitute word of a substitute word for the real thing. XD So I don't find anything wrong with saying crap, unless I'm doing like a major presentation, then it wouldn't be proper at all. lol

I don't really curse out loud, but when I'm playing a field hockey game, and a goal is scored in my team's goal because I missed the ball, I'll say near-curse words or very small curse words under my breath once in a while. I always pray, though, that no one heard me say anything. I really need to fix that habit, though, because even if the refs or players can't hear me, God can hear me.
