Y'all were right to tell me to give Escaflowne more of a chance. I finished episode 6 last night and it is much, much more interesting than I thought it was going to be when I watched the first episode.

Also still watching Moribito on Netflix, and still hating the voice acting in the English dub. I usually like English dubs all right, but this one might just ruin the series for me.

If you're in the US, you can watch it for free on Crunchyroll. And I think it's in sub on there.

It always makes me happy when someone picks up that series. The second series (NEXT) is my favorite, hope you stick till the end!

Yes, it is. And Moribito's sub voices are excellent, so @Mouse2010, I'd definitely recommend trying that instead. :)

I'm watching Hayate No Gotoku!, Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, K-On!, and I'm planning on watching Kampfer if that's any good.
"And you He made alive, who were dead in trespasses and sins, in which you once walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit who now works in the sons of disobedience, among whom also we all once conducted ourselves in the lusts of our flesh, fulfilling the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, just as the others.
But God, who is rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in trespasses, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, that in the ages to come He might show the exceeding riches of His grace in His kindness toward us in Christ Jesus." Kampfer is in fact the opposite of good.

It's not even "so bad it's good."

It's just bad. Plus it's bursting with fanservice and yuri.

Just watched Blood: The Last Vampire. That was pretty awful. The fight scenes and the monsters were cool but the acting was horrid and half the time the movie was more comical than it was scary or dramatic. I don't know if Blood+ is anything like this but if it is then I don't really want to watch it.

Blood+ is completely different. But I liked Blood: The Last Vampire, so... I thought the acting was great (or at least, it was really cool that they got bilingual actors for the VAs). And I didn't find it super-scary, but it wasn't funny.

Thanks for the advice. Maybe I won't watch that. I'm planning on watching Samurai X and Baccano!. I heard those were really good.

Baccano! is a personal favorite and the only bad thing about it IMO is it might be a little gory.

Just don't judge like I did by the first episode. It's confusing as all heck due to the sheer number of characters it needs to introduce, but man when the story starts rolling. Awesomeness happens.

This. When thinking back on Baccano! I was noticing that it's not necessarily super, super gory but that when it is gory it's brutal. :P So just a heads-up!

Watched episode 5 of Tiger and Bunny last night. I this might be my favorite pick of the season...

About to watch Overman King Gainer Seems like it will be interesting, especially since its made by the guy who made Mobile Suit Gundam.

Well, I FINALLY got around to watching Eureka Seven: Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers last night. As a re-imagining of the show, I really dug it. The new plot is compelling enough to be interesting as a stand-alone work, but all the meta references to the original are still really interesting. The combat scenes are absolutely stunning, and Renton and Eureka are still one of my favorite couples in anime history.

Unfortunately, I don't think it really works all that well as a movie. As interesting as the new story may be, there's just too much of it for one film to cover. The action keeps grinding to a halt so that massive hunks of plot can be dumped on us via voice over, and that's just not good film making (the time-skip in the first ten minutes is a bad idea too, if you ask me). If this had gotten a Rebuild treatment of multiple films, or at least some OVAs, I think it would have worked a lot better.

...except for the fact that the final fifteen minutes or so just plain don't make sense. I'd LIKE to think that it's just because they were trying to cram too much into too short a running time, and there's a perfectly coherent, conclusive version of the ending in some early draft of the script... but it seems unlikely (this IS anime, after all)

Still, I did creative spins on familiar stories, and I love Eureka Seven in any form, so Good Night, Sleep Tight, Young Lovers was a good time.

Happy Tomino can be surprisingly merciful.

On a not entirely unrelated note, I finished Space Runaway Ideon tonight and plan to watch Be Invoked tomorrow evening.

Space Runaway Ideon of course being the best example of happy Tomino.

Also, I've heard the Eureka Seven movie was good unless you wanted a continuation of it rather than an AU. I wouldn't mind more stuff set in the Eureka Seven universe, even if it is mostly like Macross with less singing.

I think it's a personal preference thing. I have a problem with stories where
someone goes to a really cool magical world and then has to come back to our world in the end.
Like Narnia. I'll also admit that part of the reason I didn't enjoy the ending very much was because I'd watched the entire anime in subs, and then for some unfathomable reason watched the final episode in the English dub D: Never do this.

Anyway, I watched FMA episode 28 with my sisters, then switched over to FMA: Brotherhood episode 13. We also watched Brotherhood episode 3 for the flashback-ness.

I saw Monster episode 14. Feels weird not to have Tenma in it, lol. I remember this so well from the manga.... I feel a weird mixture of love and hate for Eva :eh:

And then my sisters and I watched Professor Layton and the Eternal Diva! :jump: Such a good movie for Layton fans ^_^ IT HAD THE LAYTON THEME!!! AND THE PUZZLE MUSIC!!!!!!!! And we could notice some little things in the background that are so Layton. Luke was so cute, too! But I suppose it wouldn't be nearly as enjoyable to someone who's not a fan already :/

So I saw Kannagi episode seven, which I'd assumed would be the best of the series, but it was quickly topped buy episode eight.

Anyways, it's a great comedy you should check out if your computer can handle ANN's terrible player.

Pani Poni Dash, on paper, is the kind of show that I should really, really like. It's a Shaft animated and Shinbo directed comedy of the SZS type and has a stellar cast (although they were all probably a lot more green back in 2005). Unfortunately, there's nothing coherent about it and it's so overflowing with Shinboism that it reminded me why so many people have such a distaste for his style. It really shows that he's managed to rein it in over the last few years, because even as someone who loves his direction, PPD was a chore to go through.
