The second episode has mech fights, lots of death and some other neat stuff. This is personally in my top ten anime of all time. It's a little slow at times, but the story is very well put together and there are a lot of interesting twists and whatnot. I would totally recommend giving it more of a chance.

Anyway, I just finished Fractale. I liked it quite a bit, it seemed kinda like Castle In The Sky mixed with the feel of Wolfs Rain.

Yes. It does get better/more exciting. I'm with That Dude on the second episode picks up. And totally disagreeing with wolf's_howl on the ending. Made me cry. It's definitely one of my favorite fantasy anime.

So what I'm hearing is that I should give Vision of Escaflowne more of a chance? Good to know! :-) I did watch the second episode, and I thought it was better, but I was still not feeling drawn to the series. But . . . I bought the box set on one of my earlier anime-buying-splurges, so I might as well watch it. If nothing else, it's an anime classic, isn't it?

I found out today there's actually two series: ef A Tale of Memories and ef A Tale of Melodies. I've read the latter one is... sad? idk. I may give it a try anyways.

Anyway I just picked up Coyote Ragtime Show for $15. So that's what I'll be watching next.

Well, this morning I watched an episode each of Yu-Gi-Oh and Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's, and a few hours ago I got around to seeing the second DBZ film. Now just over ten films left.
No pain, no gain. I would prefer no pain, but still gain.

I've been thinking about buying this one for awhile (since only the first two episodes are available legally). There's something about it that looks really appealing to me, and the first episode was good, but I've also seen some bad reviews. So let us know what you think of it when you finish it!

Yes. It belongs to an era high in quality - if traditional- fantasy themes for anime (Escaflowne, Magic Knight Rayearth, Record of Lodoss War, Slayers, El Hazard, etc.) It might seem a bit dated by today standards, where fantasy is mixed with other genres and often plays a secondary role. They are the Tolkien of the medium.

As for myself, I finally got some time, and the appropriate mood and been trying to catch up with the great series that I missed back in their time:

Spice and Wolf (first season): Much love, leave it to anime to make such a random and otherwise dull theme as economics in feudal times, something engaging and dramatic. Looking forward the second season. 9/10

XXXholic (first season): Even though I loathed the long-limbed treatment they gave to the characters, I have a soft spot for both light horror and Japanese mythology and CLAMP have always been great at mixing them. I also enjoyed the episodic focus centered in Watanuki as opposed to being a companion device for Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles as it is in the manga. However, watching the next season, movie and ova doesn't feel too pressing at the moment. 7/10

Code Geass: I'm half through it and it has blown me off my socks. The depth of character and their development has left me speechless and that's only part of it. Amazing action, great intrigue, wonderful production values including gorgeous character design by CLAMP, contribute to make of this one of the best series I've seen in years. It's like Death Note and Full Metal Panic! had a love child who inherited only the best of their genes. Greatly recommended for any other wretch like me who hasn't seen it yet. 10/10

Just started Kurau Phantom Memory. This is one I tried to watch once on ADV's site, but when they started charging, I stopped. Now that it's on Hulu, I have no excuse.

Armor Hunter Mellowlink

This show was a pretty cool way of peering in through a window at the the Armored Trooper Votoms universe while simultaneously being provided with the experience of a self-contained, meat-and-potatoes actioner. ATV doesn't have as expansive a catalog as Gundam, but there's still a lot of it (most of it, sadly, unlicensed), so the opportunity to dip a toe into the waters without paying a penalty (read: no prior knowledge of Votoms required) is very welcome. AHM is only 12 episodes, so you can get in, take a look around, and get out by lunchtime. The only big difference b/w AHM and ATV is that the former is a man-vs-mech show, whereas ATV is straight up mecha combat.

What I found the ATV universe to be was a girtty, grimdark world filled with the kind of wasteland-ish locales that went out of fashion decades ago juxtaposed with things like lush jungles and fancy mansions. Also: war, suffering, tragedy. Me likey.

The plot is essentially this: military cover-up, lone survivor seeks revenge, TWIST! It's played about as well as you'd expect and contains a surprising amount of character develoment.

Each episode felt like a different 90s action movie: guerrila warfare in the swamp; attempted hijacking of a train; escape from prison; a seedy, underground robot fighting tournament; being hunted in a giant maze of a ruin tower by a mastah killah. Loved it all.

So yeah, I would totally recommend this show to any action and/or sci-fi fans. Even if you're not interested in investing a lot of time into Votoms, Mellowlink is still worth a look

Just watched the first episode of Tiger & Bunny. Its pretty fascinating so far.

Edit: I've watched the first four episodes of "Tiger & Bunny". So far its actually really great! I really like it! brings me back to when I was watching Darker Than Black... with a touch of Oran to it. ^_^ But yeah, I'd recommend it, new episodes air on hulu every Saturday four hours after they air in Japan. Might be worth following.

Tiger and Bunny - 1-4 still pretty good, seems like they are caught in a rut with these two though.

X-men - 1-4 by far the best thing to come out of the Marvel anime yet

Shin Getter Robo - 1-10 I wish it was better, right now it just makes me want to watch Shin Mazinger Z again

Its ok buddy. I know, I understand. I was there too when I watched season 1. But if what I researched on R2 and R3 were correct, we should be thankful thats all we get. I feel for ya though bro.

On topic, I've watched the first three episodes of Soul Eater.

I've been watching Kamisama Kazoku. It feels cheaply animated (and I suppose the premise itself might offend some Christian viewers!) but it has managed to surprise me: the fourth episode was what I expected the thirteenth episode to be, and since that episode things have gotten more complicated. Not the write-off I expected.

Hear, hear. Man-vs-mecha is a rare enough approach that anyone who really likes their giant robots should give Mellowlink a look. In my opinion.

I'm currently watching Aria:The Scarlet Ammo.
It's a new anime that is based on it's manga. It just staring to air while Funimation aired it on their channel.
I just starting to watch this anime series and I enjoying it so far! It's really cool and cute!
It's about high schoolers who attends to a school that involves guns and action.
It has action, with hilarious romantic moments(with some fan-service -__-)
It has a similar ToraDora feeling to it because the characters personalities from that are similar to this one.

I'm liking it so far. Looking forward to newer episodes.:jump:

.hack//Quantum was alright as far as .hack anime go. It gets points for actually resembling something like MMO gameplay. I suspect every .hack story is the same one, where someone does something weird and people get trapped and all, but with different character each time. At least this time, it wasn't dragged out for two cours.
