It could be a little weird, depending on the situation:

1.It would be weird if you said that another guy was "cute."
2.If you said, "awww...that's so cute!" it would be weird.

However, if you said that a girl was cute, or if you were using it in a sarcastic way, it would not be weird.

Hmm. I think it's all good right up until you start drawing the word out and adding a goofy smile. Then I'd swiftly run away.
"So David said to Michal, "It was before the LORD, who chose me instead of your father and all his house, to appoint me ruler over the people of the LORD, over Israel. Therefore I will play music before the LORD. And I will be even more undignified than this, and will be humble in my own sight. But as for the maidservants of whom you have spoken, by them I will be held in honor."

2 Samuel 6: 21&22

I think most people when they hear a guy says something with "cute" in it, they think he's gay.

I say somethings cute alot. I see nothing wrong with when you say like "oh that girl is cute", or "thats a cute ababy" or "thats a cute painting". It all depends in what context you put it in.

I use it in a sarcastic way a lot. Also, my dad uses it to describe my artwork.. which kinda disturbs and discourages me :eh:

Well, yeah, it would be weird if a guy walked up to me and said "Hey, girl, that coat is cute!" Yeah, that would be weird, but talking about a girl it wouldn't be weird. Just my opinion.
Every year in Uganda, innumerable children simply. . . disappear. These children all stolen under the cover of darkness from their homes and impressed into the guerilla armies of the LRA [Lord's Resistance Army]. In the deserts of Uganda, they are forced to witness the mindless slaughter of other children until they themselves can do nothing but kill. Kill. These children, generally ranging from ages 5-12, are brainwashed into murdering in the name of the resistance and into stealing other children from their beds to suffer the same fate.

Because of this genocide of innocence, hundred and hundreds of children live every night sleeping in public places miles from their homes, because they know that if the do not-- they will disappear. They will become just another number in this genocide to which the international community has chosen to turn a blind eye. They will become, in affect, invisible-- Invisible Children.

But there are those who are trying to fight against this slaughter of Uganda's children. They fight to protect these "invisible children." Please, help them help a country full of children who know nothing by fear. Help save the innocence. I think cbwing0 and Hitokiri brought up some valid points to be considered. Also, I would like to add that think about your tone of voice and facial expression as you say the word, "cute."

;) J/K. It doesn't sound so weird coming from you. Or, um, it doesn't read so weird. . . whatever.

It's ok to say cute...as long as you flip out directly afterwards and flex or perform ninja-like stunts to reinforce your manliness...... :shady:

jk....it depends on the context you use it in.

saying it about an animal: ok
saying it about a girl: ok
saying it about an article of clothing: a bit fruity...guys will look at you weird....
saying it to accentuate cuteness of girl wearing article of clothing: ok
(you look cute in that hat)
saying it about your mother: just plain weird....

remember guys...defend your manliness...its the only thing that keeps us from doing lame things like seeing chick flicks, crochetting, or getting our nails done...

*puts on McDonalds hat* hello and welcome to mcdonalds, would you care for a fresh glass of sarcasm?

XD

I say cute almost all the time, rather I'm referring to a girl who I think is cute or a baby, even something that's just cute like a kitten. I usually use it more as an predicate for something as opposed to just saying it though. I think this thread is cute. @@

I feel that cbwing0 outlined the circumstances of the use of the term cute rather well.

The only contexts in which I can imagine myself actually using the term would be flatly sarcastic (ie "How cute." :stare:) or straight sarcastic.

*sits and looks at Volt for awhile*

I'm trying to imagine your avatar peting a little yellow duck and calling it cute. . . . . O.o;; okay, I should probly stop imagining now ._.

anyways, regarding the "cute" conumdrum, I see nothing wrong with a guy saying "cute" it really all depends on the term they use it in, I can imagine a bunch of guys sitting on a bench in the park watching girls and calling them "cute", now imagining Volt's avatar petting a ducky and calling it "cute", that's a WHOLE differant stoy ^.^;;

Cute, the following is a definition

Cute- Attractive in a childlike way.
Endearingly attractive in
The way that some children
And young animals are.

Physically Attractive
Young and physically attractive

Pleasing
Small than the usual size but nicely
Arranged and appointed

An apartment with a Cute Little Kitten

To get cute with somebody
To show insolence to somebody

Cute
Attractive
Pretty
Delightful
Charming
Endearing
Adorable
Sweet
Appealing

And there you have it. The definition of cute, although I do agree that it depends on how you use and in what voice tone. And yes I use the word every now and then, especially when I’m talking about little animals! Kittens!

I have no problem with guys saying cute. As long as they're not calling another guy cute, then it's perfectly okay. >>; Or maybe that's because I don't go for that entire testosterone macho guy stereotype.

I have guy friends who describe another guy as good looking (not often but I have one or two who have more fav. male idols than women and I haven't questioned them at all..I see no reason for me to do so). Hey, if they wanted to say cute, I couldn't care less. *shrugs*

It seems like girls get alot more freedom when it comes to stuff like this. If a girl says anouther girl is cute, its jsut normal. If they say it about a guy that's okay too. But it seems if a guy says it about a guy that everyone thinks he's gay, and if he says it about a girl they think he's perverted. >.>;;; But anyway! I have nothing wrong with boys saying stuff is cute, in fact, I view it as a sign of maturity. ^_^

Neither do I, but... memory loss and wrinkles skin are also signs of maturity. As is calling people over 30 "kid."

Among my peers, cute is almost never used to refer to girls of the about the same age (hot has replaced cute as the qualifier of choice for describing attractiveness in women).

I can really only think of a few times I use "the word in question":

1) In relation to fuzzy animals.

2) Repeating the word in question if put on the spot, e.g. "Look at my baby daughter, isn't she so cute?"
"Yeah...cute." (Sometimes just a smile, nod, and grunt will suffice)

To summarize: I don't really use the word. Maybe it's just me.
