According to the guys at MechaTalk (mahq.net), it's just another mediocre mid-series episode and nothing out of the ordinary. Tomino "isn't happy with it" and that is the only reason he won't allow the episode to be released on the R1 DVDs. This is confirmed by the wikipedia and gundam wikia articles. Considering some of the stuff that has been pulled with this franchise, such pettiness does not surprise me.

Oh yeah, I know. But that's not the point. It's just annoying how tyrannical Tomino is being. It's been 30 years, man. Release the episode. Why are the Japanese fans good enough for that episode and R1 fans not? Because Yoshioko-san knows that if he pulled that garbage w/ the Japanese fans...well he couldn't pull that garbage w/ the Japanese fans. But the Americans? Bah, screw 'em. Though there's not much we can do to change things, being considered a secondary fan is kinda lame.

Monster episode 10 - oh, what'shisname, with the buck teeth! I always imagined him to have a super-annoying, wheedling sort of voice. I'm kind of relieved it's not that bad

GaoGaiGar Final...the entirety of this show was more epic than each of these. Much more.

It was awesome. Dat final weapon.

I doubt many people here will see it, though. Final (an 8 episode OVA) requires you to watch a 50 episode super robot anime from the 90s. And, for some exceedingly odd reason (XD) not many people find such a prospect appealing.

I just watched the first two episodes of Wandering Son. My timing is off, I know, since the series just ended, but hey, better late than never? I found the first episode confusing (I started making sense of it in episode 2, once I sorted out who all the characters were), but I'm in awe of the art style. I don't think I've ever seen the cherry blossom motif used so beautifully.

I think I should have been watching this instead of Fractale this season.

I just went and re-watched episodes 15-19 of Clannad After Story. I bawled my eyes out again. I have my issues with this show, but there is no doubt that these are some of the best episodes of anime ever made.

I've had this and this on repeat alternately ever since. Tears. Will. Not. Stop.

I also watched a surprisingly good movie called Summer Days With Coo last night. It is essentially your classic "boy and his pet" story, but the pet in question is a kappa. It was quite refreshing; I liked how the main boy's family played a big role in the story, since most stories of this type involve keeping the pet a secret from the adults; I was actually kind of surprised when he let them know about the kappa right off the bat. I did feel the middle was pretty weak compared with the beginning and the end; and from looking at the promo art and reading the summary, I never expected it to be as brutally violent as it was at times. But yeah, it was pretty good.

You thought Soul Eater was grim? It's definitely a fun show, not a dark one. Violence is pretty standard shonen fare, though it's done in a more cartoony manner than most shonen, though not One Piece levels of cartooniness.

It's not the violence that is a problem. It is not really a dark show (so far as what I have seen); it does have quite a bit of blood but it is played up in a cartoonish way. The first 8 episodes have more than their fair share of fanservice, unfortunately. I have been told that there is very little to none through the rest of the series.

So I just finished the second episode of Library Wars, and I'm pretty surprised at how close it is to the manga. Given the different target audiences and art styles, I assumed they would have some of the same events but different emphasis on said events, but it turned out I was wrong.

Also, I'm really liking the aesthetic for this show. Can anyone tell me if Production IG's stuff normally looks this good and clean?

Edit:And it looks like I spoke too soon as the anime has some different stuff from the manga while skipping some stuff. I guess I'm going to have to read the novels to figure out the actual chronology.

The less said about Fractale, the better.

The ending to Tegami Bacchi Reverse didn't quite ring true for me. Everything complex became...too simple? Characters were sort of reduced to one-dimensional smile, nod and be-cool-w/-whatever versions of themselves. The journey was fun, but the destination leaves a bit to be desired.

So, you've seen Gurren Lagann and really enjoyed the action in the first and final arcs. You want to find a robot show w/ similar action elements but don't want to commit to a super-long series. Well, I've got the tonic for you.

Shin Getter Robo vs. Neo Getter Robo

GETTER CHANGE!!!

Here, we have one spectacularly insane OVA from 2000. It is only four episodes long, so you can burn through the whole thing in an afternoon. Worried about getting up to speed on the Nagai-verse? Not necessary. This show doesn't require any prior knowledge/viewing of Getter Robo. Anything you might need to be aware of is taken care of by a flashback at the beginning of the first episode.

The plot is quite simple: the Getter team thought they vanquished the Reptilian Empire, but they were oh-so-wrong. Their leader found a (ridiculous) way of surviving. Due to casualties from their last go-round, the Getter team must do some recruiting. Thus, they seek out a man of hot blood and burning passion: Go Ichimonji. Craziness ensues. Any plots holes are solved with the utterance of two words: Getter Rays!

Who cares, though. The plot is really incidental to giant robots beating the crap out of mechasaurs for two hours. If you're looking for great character development, or even lovable characters, look elsewhere (Go is kind of a jerk). The TTGL comparisons don't run parallel on that point. However, the nigh-constant, over-the-top action of SGR vs NGR is definitely reminiscent of the aforementioned Gainax mega-hit. Like any good robot show, this one will get you pumped! You will feel the hot-blood surging through your own veins!

This show is a solid, entertaining bridge from TTGL into super robot anime in general.

Kicking it off with a classic favorite of mine: Vampire Knight! Watching the first season all over again.

So today I opened the Baccano! DVD I got and watched the first episode with my roommate...now I have to see if she'll sit through the next three. I don't know what to think about it so far (first episode and...yeah), my roommate kept talking throughout it so I might just continue with it alone.

More importantly, though, I've started watching Giant Robo. Had to quit because it was late at night, but I'm definitely going to watch more as soon as I can.

Yeah, I tried Baccano! again, after setting it aside for a couple of weeks. I had to watch the first couple of episodes twice before they made sense. This show was making me feel stupid! However, I'm on episode 4 now, and I'm getting the hang of it, I think.

Don't fret too much about that because the first episodes don't really make sense until you see the final episodes of the TV series. When viewd in isolation, it's sort of tempting to think of the begining of Baccano! as irresponsibly written; however, the writers actually planned the ending before they began animating (which is rare for an anime these days), so all will become clear in due time.
