Praise and a prayer request

Postby Sheenar » Fri Mar 18, 2011 2:38 pm

First I want to start off by sharing some really great news!! I received a phone call from my service dog program (where my first dog Pebbles was from) and they've matched me with a dog!! He's a black Lab named Leon!! :D

I should get my packet in the mail next week to sign the paperwork to confirm placement and Team Training --I'll go in for Team Training in June and spend 3 weeks in gorgeous PA!

Leon won't ever replace Pebbles in my heart --she was my first and my heart dog --but he will be special in his own way to me --and I am excited to begin our partnership in a few months.

I do have a prayer request. It seems so small compared to many, but it's really interfering with my life right now. I've had this middle ear infection for 6+ weeks now --am on my 3rd round of antibiotics. The pain is terrible --also am experiencing vertigo and nausea. I'm trying to get in to see an Ear, Nose and Throat doctor --just have to wait until I can see my PCP on Wed. to get the referral --they couldn't get me in sooner (new PCP --old one was not on top of things at all.) I got some good pain medicine today at the ER (was told to go by the nurse line) so I should be able to rest well tonight. I am really tired of my ears hurting and not being able to wear my hearing aids.

Prayer would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, friends!

Dogs are awesome.

I'm sorry about the ear infection. I never understood how awful those are until I had one, and my heart goes out to you. I'll pray.

Oh, I don't have the dog yet. I'm going to fly to PA for Team Training in June and then come back to TX with the dog. :)

Here's the website of the service dog program if anyone is interested in learning more:

I saw my new primary care doctor today and she was really nice and awesome --took notes, listened to me and took me seriously.

She's writing a referral for me to see an ENT for my ears --she said that there is no longer any sign of infection, but I have a lot of fluid and stuff trapped behind my eardrums and some scarring on my eardrum. In the meantime (until I see the ENT), I have nasal spray to hopefully help clear my ears up a little.

Still having a lot of pain and dizziness, but the end is in sight!

Thank you all for praying!

I saw the ENT today. Infection has been gone for a while, but still having a lot of pain and pressure in my ears.

I'll be going back on the 21st and the dr. is going to put a hole in both eardrums to see if it relieves the pressure. He will put tubes in both ears if it does.

It'll be with local anesthetic, but this is still going to suck...hope it helps.

Had my appointment with the ENT today to have a hole poked in each eardrum to try to relieve the pressure.

Only the numbing gel did not work at all --when he went to vaccum (sp? I never can remember how to spell it) out the gel, it hurt pretty badly. I was crying.

So he decided to stop there. He said he isn't into torturing his patients.

So, surgery center on May 6 to have tubes put in my ears. Pre-op visit next Friday the 29th.

I'm really, really hoping and praying for some relief. It's been MONTHS.

I'm still having a lot of pain in my ears from this morning. It's pretty bad. I hate taking pain meds, but I'll have to to be able to sleep.

Praying for you, Sheenar. The only thing I can think of that comes close to what you much be feeling is when I had an ear infection for 4-5 days. I know that was beyond painful.

So definitely praying.
