ello all. i'm currentlly in tech school at lackland afb and in a few days i'll be phased up, which will allow me to get of base on the weekends. i was hoping that since there's a large amount of texans on the boards, some of you guys might be able to suggest a good protestant church for me to visit in the san antonio area. needless to say,i'm really looking foward to getting of base for church. well,i'll just sit back and see how this goes. thanks all.

Hiya Senju,

Depends on what you're looking for, cuz "Protestant" can encompass many different churches. Are you looking, for example, for an Assemblies of God church, or would you be more comfortable at a Vineyard congregation? Do you lean more toward a traditional worship style, or do you prefer contemporary? Above all that though, the most important thing is how strongly are their biblical foundations, and whether the Bible is truly preached.

Anyways, have you heard of Cornerstone Church, pastored by John Hagee? It's in San Antonio, perhaps you could check it out.
Peace,

Jose

thanks, i might check the one out. my original church was a more traditional style, but i've come to get used to the contemporary style. i'm ok with both styles, but i'ld prefer to find a presbityrian church (i know i didn't spell that right,i just know it)somewhere close by. but hey,if no one else will give suggestions,i might just go to the one you mentioned. thanks firestarter.

Well ssj, right now i'm in Security Forces Tech school. So basicly,i'm training to be a cop. like tommorow i have" employ search procedures/conduct building and repository checks." which basicly means i'll be running around with my m9 and m16 all day, clearing various buildings and checking up on buildings on patrol. that and searching vehicles for drugs and weapons.

now to bmt. well, your first week will be crazy. don't expect to eat alot in the chow line. and a little personal advice, when they scream at you and tell you to quit eating, just do it. unless you want your table flipped over. they'll also have you running around in tennis shoes all week. i guess they figure you have to earn the right to wear combat boots. go figure. make sure you pay good attention to your instructor when he shows you how to fold clothes, because i didn't. still, somehow i passed inspection. and make sure you do good on your redline inspection. because if you pass that, the academic requirements for getting Honor Graduate are only 90%. and the test you take are really simple as long as you're adaquetly prepared. when you first get there, they'll have a couple sheets of memory work that you REALLY REALLY need to know. don't slack off on your memory work,or they'll begin to pull 341's on you . 341's are discrepency/excellence reports.
you have to have about 3 of them on you at all times. another thing, don't be late for church. if you instructor finds out, you'll be doing about 10 pushups every hour for about 2-3 hours. and yes, you'll be in the up position the whole time inbetween pushups. maybe your instructors won't be as hard core, but i wouldn't count on it. there are a bunch of different training squadrons you could end up in. hopefully you'll end up in the 323rd. they have some really good TI's there. oh yeah, don't disrespect your element leaders or dorm chief, because if you do,they may decide that you need to be recycled. pretty much if the dorm chief wants to recycle you, you're gone. so don't tick them off.recyclee's have been in there 6th week of training and been sent back to their 2nd WOT. so be careful. in a nutshell, its like living life in prison. except your warden doesn't come into your cell block and pick up you bed and slam it down on the ground, figuring thats enough to wake you up. but don't worry about it. it goes by fast. just curious, what guaranteed job did you get,if one at all?
