From the current season, I am watching Gosick, Infinite Stratos, Kore wa Zombie, and Dragon Crisis. If I get motivated again, I'll pick up Level E and Beelzebub from where I left off on them a couple weeks back.

As for other series, I'm currently not actively watching any, but I am thinking about either finishing GTO, watching Chobits, or re-watching Shana or Birdy the Mighty Decode.

Finally watched Episodes 1-7 of Soul Eater. It could be better, but it is pretty funny.

Don't worry.

I would say, apart from the final episodes, the beginning is actually when the series is at its weakest. The show definitely gets stronger as it progresses.

Yeah, during the introduction episodes (1-3) I noticed more filler-like stuff and fanservice, but even in just the other 4 episodes I watched, it was already better.

:mutter: Wanna see that so bad!!! But I don't think there's a North American release, is there...?

Anyway, I saw episodes 4 and 5 of Monster, in which Nina is finally introduced! She sounds about right from what I imagined, though once again her hair color is off :/ I'm also not sure I like Johan's voice]really takes off.

I finished the first disc of Haibane Renmei with my sisters <3

And I started watching the English dub of Brotherhood (having only seen the Japanese previously); I'm on episode 2. Most of it is awesome; I was right in thinking that Travis Willingham would do a better job this time around, after more experience with Mustang, and I'm really starting to like Maxey Whitehead as Al. In the first episode, she often sounded a lot like a girl, but she's sounding more and more like Aaron Dismuke did. And I have to say...as good of an actor as Vic Mignogna is...he can not do eight-year-old boys -_- I was also really disappointed they didn't do the voice manipulation for the Truth guy that they did in the Japanese (I think, since they don't have someone listed in the cast). And the introduction voice...sounds awful DX

I just learned yesterday that there is an F-Zero anime...MUST WATCH.
It's called F-Zero: GP Legend, but I've also found it under the name F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu.

Also I'm considering watching Sonic X, even though it's a kids show...

Watched episodes 15-18 of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. To skip the rehash (though I'll watch it eventually someday) I found the point where the original anime diverged. Man, watching this is extremely epic! I mean...there's more characters and a deeper plot (though I'll always love the first anime still).

But man, in the episode where....
Mustang faked Ross's death! I almost thought that he really mercilessly killed her, but he actually didn't!! I was almost ready to hate Mustang, but he actually knew she didn't kill Hughs! And I loved the part when Armstrong was chasing her for a hug, that was hilarious!
Man...this makes me want to buy more manga volumes!! Wow...to think this version was the mangaka's original vision. Beautiful. But the first anime was still a masterpeice, but Brotherhood is a masterpiece as well!!!

I've been working my way through the Tsubasa RESERvoir CHRoNiCLE manga lately; and, despite being underwhelmed by the parts of the anime adaption I have seen previously, after reading the Acid Tokyo arc, I decided to give the Tokyo Revelations OVAs a chance

And I am very, very glad I did.

In the manga itself, the arc is a "turning point" in the story, and the OVA did it justice. The animation was good, and the voice acting excellent. The animated adaption also resolved the one big issue I had with this arc in the manga--namely, the fight scenes. I know that not everyone will agree with me, but I feel like CLAMP fight scenes are very confusing and almost impossible to follow. The animated fights were very well choreographed--though definitely not the best Production I.G. fights I've ever seen, it was nonetheless a huge improvement over the original.

I do have one major issue with these OVAs, though...the music. I'm not a huge fan of Kajiura Yuki in the first place (all her music sounds the same), but the music from the original Tsubasa TV series was probably the highlight of the series, for me. In the OVAs, it just felt awkward. The new tracks were not memorable at all (at least, I think there were new tracks), and they would play some of the more familiar tracks from the original series for a short sequence and then, as the scene ended, just cut them off; it really got on my nerves.

But anyway, the OVA was very, very good. I enjoyed it a lot.

1. Finished the ENTIRE Ah! My Goddess franchise. Mini-Goddess series, 2007 anniversary OVA, everything. Yes, there's a new OVA coming out this year, but its supposed to premiere at AX, so if I can catch that, I will, and subsequently hold out on the one ep of it that is currently floating around the internet. This also marks my 25th completed title.

2. Currently done with 28 eps of Gundam 0079 thus far. I am still liking this series a lot, and I have chosen to side with the Earth Federation in the war that it showcases. Still haven't decided whether to root for Amuro or Char in their rivalry, though. Kinda leaning towards Amuro, but still not sure. In related Gundam-watching news... I have further projected my own anime viewing schedule all the way out to May 2012 (yes, you read that right) in order to account for watching the rest of the Gundam mega-franchise once I pick it up again in July of this year. (All scheduling is theoretical and tentative, btw).

3. Looking to start the shonen fighting series Fairy Tail today. However, I have yet to find it on a legal site. Crunchyroll does carry it, but only for paying members, I think. Youtube doesn't have any official channels carrying it, and Funimation is not hosting the series... I'm sure I'll find the right site soon enough.

I finished Cowboy Bebop last week. It was a good show though, I don't think it was as great as some people say it is. I mean that many people gave it a 10 on MAL and said it was one of the greatest anime ever!!!!! ZOMG!!!111
I enjoyed it thoroughly and I would probably buy the series but I was a little disappointed by the ending mostly because I thought that the movie was a sequel and I kept expecting Ed to come back and Spike to be fine. Oh well...As SubtleDoctor said to me: it fits in with the style
So I guess he is right and it is not that bad. I just wish there was a little more wrap up.

Monster episode 6-7. Good as always! Poor Tenma....

FMA: Brotherhood (dub) episode 3. Maxey Whitehead continues to impress!

And now I'm up to episode 9 of Haibane Renmei with my sisters. Episodes 8 and 9 are my favorites in the whole series, other than the last couple.

I feel the same way. Don't get me wrong, I loved it all together. The animation/art was always beautiful and consistent, the action was amazing, and the stories were always good. [Plus...who DOESN'T like "The Real Folk Blues"?]

It just felt like most of the series consisted of [good] "filler" stories, and only a handful contained actual plot. Then it all just ended kind of abruptly. Still, it's a great series.

This is a misapplication of the word "filler." Regardless of the existence of source material for the anime, a prerequisite for filler episodes is that there exist a mainline narrative that is the bulk of the story, or at least is the primary story the show wants to tell. Hence, episodes that are not part of this main plot progression are filler, they fill in the gaps between epiasodes that move the prinicple narrative along.

Cowboy Bebop didn't have a main plot thread or primary story to begin with. The bulk of its episodes were self-contained sstories rather than serialized ones, and I think this is what you mean in the quoted passage above. Sure, there is a bit of carry-over from episode to episode in terms of character development, but I don't think you can argue that CB has "filler," since self-contained stories are what the series is. These episodes aren't filling in any gaps between the "main stoiry" because there are none to fill in.

*EDIT: Also, I have watched Jyu Oh Sei, which was pretty mediocre, Summer Wars, which was very good (if slightly over-hyped), and Patlabor and Zeta Gundam, which I will post my thoughts on later.
