It's been a few months, but a PV for the second episode of Unicorn has shown up. Also, it'll be some more months until the episode is actually available. 。・゚・(ノД`)・゚・。

The preview looks cool! I might start watchign this once there...more of it out.
Odd thing though, I had Thriller running in Pandora instead of the audio, and it matched pretty well. XD

PURU VS. PLE ARGUMENT ACTIVATE!

Nah there's not enough people interested in this show on this site for that to happen.

It's officially "Ple" pronounced "Pull" but technically you can say "Puru" and be correct cuz that's how the Nipponese say it.

Awww come on, nobody else has anything to say? CAA, I am disappoint.

I will say things, then. Here is a slightly altered Livejournal post I made on the subject:

My avatar is a picture of Banagher, the main character of Gundam Unicorn. I am in love with him, and I am in love with this series. I know it's kind of creepy because he is a 16-year-old fictional character but dangit, I have not been this excited about an anime or a character in a long, long time so leave me aloneeeeeee

There are only two 60-minute episodes available right now and I have already watched them both three times. It needs to be finished like, now. As in, this instant. But episode three won't be out on PSN until March, and the Blu-ray release was pushed back until April because of too many pre-orders. Isn't that kind of awesome? Anyway, AGGGHHHH THE WAIT IS GOING TO KILL ME.

Unicorn definitely merits multiple viewings. It was even better the second time around because I was able to pick up on all the subtext and subtleties, of which there are many-- subtle little facial expressions and body language and things like that. I LOVE that sort of thing.

And HOLY CRAP, THE ANIMATION. It's seriously one of the most beautiful animated series I've ever seen in my life. I love the color palette. I love the updated 80s-style character designs. Everything's fluid and crisp and adfjlfgmnvdf just look at the trailers and whatnot if you want to see.

And Banagher is just such an interesting kid. He's not a copy of Amuro Ray or Kamille Vidan. There's maybe a tiny bit of them in him somewhere, but he's definitely unique. If you watch his face and listen to what he says, there's obviously a lot going on behind those pretty eyes. He is a little naive and sensitive, yet he possesses a certain...emotional maturity that Kamille and Amuro did not have at first. He may not like fighting, but he doesn't sit around crying about it, either. He may not be much of a talker, but when he does speak, he makes it count.
This 16-year-old kid had a tete-a-tete with effing Full Frontal (HE IS A CHAR) and he held his ground in spite of being harassed by angry silver-haired dude whose name I have temporarily forgotten.
That scene was amazing.

I'm not sure how many of Banagher's qualities stem from being a crazy powerful Newtype and how many are just part of who he is, but who cares, he's awesome and-- provided he doesn't start acting dumb in the later episodes --is currently one of my favorite characters from anything ever.

Seriously Sunrise; finish this series ASAP. And then release a Blu-ray boxset so I can give you my money. This show is everything Gundam should be. Also I need to force more people to watch all of the Universal Century timeline so I can then force them to watch Unicorn with me. Come on, you know you want to. IT WILL BE GLORIOUS.

It's worth noting that the combat is extremely impressive. It's kind of like how I didn't notice how lacking the combat in SEED (press button, receive beams) was until I watched some other stuff. Unicorn's combat is such that you can actually call it choreographed. The pilots had to think about what to do. They used the environment and their weapons properly. They didn't putz around and talk. Things were actually serious business, in both episodes.

Thanks for mentioning that, I kinda forgot, ahaha. Seriously, you're right, the combat scenes are just...fdslkg. It's some of the best mecha action I've ever seen.
