Find a break in a day where I had nothing I needed to do but make progress on my scarf...and was all caught up on airing things! So!

Red Garden 6-8 -- LOL!! RG is very, very confused. It is trying to be horror, thriller, suspense, drama, highschool drama, sentimental, and. ...and...a musical. Yep. Anything non-homicidal-toward-characters emotion it manages to wrench from me is gone when they start to "sing." On the positive side, despite most of the characters being just plain irritating, the swearing being downright tiring and gratuitous (watching in dub) and the inconsistencies in mood...it does present interestingly real reactions to the situation the girls have been placed in. It truly does give a more realistic response to being thrown from normal life into "dead" zombie slayers. The realism does hurt the likability of the characters to an extent, as most of them are plain irritating and frustating. But as the story progresses, they're beginning to be a bit more likable as they grow. Still, the layer of realism does little to rescue it from its uber genre confusion--which leads to most of the resulting entertainment being unintentional comedy.

Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei 9 -- I dropped this for a while due to the innuendo, but decided to go ahead and aim for finishing it. It feels a bit flat now, but still amusing even if on a lesser level than the first few episodes. Depending how I feel after finishing, I may watch the other seasons. :)

Finished Pretear!
Loved it for the most part, someday I may watch it subbed though.
I love Luci Christian and Chris Patton, but I'd like to see how it sounds in Japanese too.
Anyway, I'm almost finished with Special A!
I looooove it so much. Though the second part of the series is definitely more dramatic. I still love it.

And I guess it is licensed? By Sentai. And so I am buying the first collection now.

Watched episodes 12-18 of Heroic Age. This series is just a masterpeice, in my opinion, so far. The battles are epic, and the emotion....oh man, I can't tell you how many times I've almost cried. Kyaaah!! Only 7 more episodes to go!! I wonder how it'll end!!

Serial Experiments Lain - Complete

There's not a ton I can say about the series without spoiling stuff, so let me just state that I absolutely loved it.

Certainly the show is esoteric, but I don't think the heavy dose of atmosphere is just slight of hand; this show has a lot of substantive things to say about personal identity, realism versus idealism concerning the physical world, religion, technology, etc.

I don't think that one can grasp the whole picture of SEL in one viewing (nor is one's grasp definitive, as I believe much is purposefully left open to viewer interpretation), so things that might initially seem like loose plot ends will, I firmly believe, receive explanation upon rewatchings. Lain is just that sort of show, I feel like the creators clearly took time to painstakingly structure the entire show, so the thought that some stuff might be unexplained or "just there" seems dubious.

The show struck an excellent balance between being artsy/obtuse and having a clear narrative structure to serve as an anchor to the viewer (and make interpreting the show easier).

Nakamura has put me on notice, and Ghost Hound has moved up in my to-watch queue.

Recommended and deserving of its early millennial hype.

I started watching Eden of the East yesterday and finished it today. I really like the two main characters and the whole concept of the "game" Takizawa is in is interesting. The ending was cool but I want to see the movies now.

You're in luck, the second movie just came out today if you can find it.

Not too happy with the ending though, it lacks closure on some levels.

Watched all but the last 5 episodes of Fullmetal Alchemist!!! Kyaaah!!! I can't believe it's almost done!!! Then it's on to the movie! Then it's on to Brotherhood!!! I'm loving this so much, I know the first series strays off the manga (need to read more manga of it, hehe) but it doesn't seem to be losing it's storytelling quality despite that.

I'm also almost done with Heroic Age. Just 6 more episodes to go. Too bad Funi took off all the English ones now >.< I'll finish it in Japanese if I have to. It's not that I mind it in Japanese, but sometimes I don't wanna read subtitles and I liked their dubbed voices, it had a good cast!!

I really like Kare Kano. It's my favourite shoujo manga for reasons that I have detailed already. I'd heard less than kind things about the anime, but someone recently suggested that it was worth watching anyway, so I went for it.

Episodes 1-18:
An excellent adaptation of the manga which I enjoyed very, very much. It reminded me of what I loved about it and why.

Episodes 19-26:

Yeah, that's what I thought... ^^ There are definitely goods and bads to both :) (But mostly good... I mean, come on, it's Fullmetal Alchemist)

I'm now re-watching Samurai 7 with the hubs. He says he likes Samurai a lot, so I warned him that it's not a particularly ordinary Samurai tale. But he likes it so far. We're up to episode 3.

I'm watching Kaichou Wa Maid-Sama [ep 4.] and Yumeiro Patissiere [ep 2]
Both kinda interesting so far, I don't like Maid-Sama as much as Special A so far though.
Yumeiro just reminds me of the Kitchen Princess manga, but it's cute. So I like it. ^_^

So I finished Fullmetal Alchemist and watched the movie. Really good series, I enjoyed it, though the way the film ended was....kinda sad to me because
The brothers are together, but not in their homeworld!!!
I still liked it though.

I just watched the first episode of Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood. In my opinion, the animation is sort of OVA quality, which I like. Don't think I like Al's new voice much. I mean, she's not a bad VA, and sometimes can pull off sounding like Aaron at times, but other times sounds too much like a girl. Aaron did a better job, but I understand why he couldn't return. It'll still be Aaron's voice I hear when I read the manga. Not sure what I think of it so far, and I heard the first few episodes isn't as good since they rush through things so fast (and they skip the coal-mining arc I hear! That was like my favorite arc!! I was hoping this series would keep it closer to the manga 'cause it was funnier! Oh well). Sooo...I'll judge it when it really kicks in.

It was a great arc- but people have seen it in the first series. That's mostly why they rushed it. People already know what happens early on, and wanted to see the new stuff. It is closer to the manga in pretty much every other way, though.

That's true, but you'd think as a remake they'd try to do better than the previous. Though I do admit; outdoing the previous would be fairly difficult, since the way they expanded the arcs was done so beautifully in the first series.

Watched episodes 21-23 of Heroic Age in Japanese since Funi took off all the English dubbed episodes. However, turns out it's also awesome in Japanese! Mail and Tail, though, have pretty high voices and I think I prefer Monica Rial, but besides that, good voices ^.^ I think I can easily enjoy this series in both languages!

Just finished Heroic Age! What an amazing series, I will so own it! And the ending was quite satisfying. I was happy that...
After four years, Age returns, and we see the princess (now Queen I think) take his hand and the gate closes, so it appears she went with him!
I am so watching this over again!!!

Just re-watched the original Ghost in the Shell movie. I haven't seen it in almost ten years, and, man, I really under-appreciated it last time. This flick has everything I want in a science fiction story. I loved the music, and Oshii was philosophical without being being tedious. Excellence.

If you mean the Yoki episode (wouldn't really call it an 'arc'), then you're in luck - they do a flashback of it waaaaay down the road ]really starts to deviate), they stick to the manga like glue. It's awesome :3

Oh, and I watched Lovely Complex episode 12.
