Second episode of The World God Only Knows was way fun, a little fanservicey, but little enough to deal with. :D

But...did something happen to Shiki?

Would have to say Black Lagoon at this moment, and The Slayers. Can't recommend either for content so far.

I started watching Fortune Arterial last night. Nothing terribly unique about it, and I'm usually looking for something to grasp me in the first few episodes, but still, I like it so far.

I have recently watched The World God Only Knows episode 2. It is rather a simple shonen series, but I do like the comedy elements.
Firstly though I would like some suggestions about the following]

Glad you liked Brotherhood! ^_^ Definitely my favorite story ever.

But that's a tough question, and one that I expect should be answered differently for each person. I can't say for sure how a stranger would take it; I've witnessed all sorts of reactions from Christians watching it, from not being bothered with those elements (like me), to being completely thrown off by the first few episodes.

The best answer to the "anti-God speech qualms," as you might call it, is what Vic Mignogna likes to point out: If you think about it and observe Ed throughout the series, it becomes clear that he's actually not as much of an atheist as he claims in that Lior speech. Most of what that comes down to is that he's shaking his fist at God because, let's face it, he's had a truly horrible life so far and he feels like God has only ever punished him and held him down. And while it's regrettable that there isn't any real reconciliation of that bitterness, you can't really expect more than that from a modern Japanese lady, right? :/

As for the "god" stuff later on...
That gave me some pause, and at first I was disappointed with the whole "bringing God down to earth" stuff that Father was doing. But the way I understood that part, where Father gets all that power in the climax, it wasn't so much that he was calling God out and that God was following his commands. It was more like Father thought that was what he was doing, when really it was just a huge transmutation that gave him the power from the earth (since they say alchemy uses the energy from the movement of tectonic plates), as well as the souls of all the people of Amestris. That could be just me desperately trying to find some way to reconcile my favorite story, but I also noticed that the general response of the "good guys" to Father's intentions was, "Mister, you are one conceited idiot :shake: "
The bottom line for me is that, while FMA runs on the general assumption that scientists don't believe in God, it's not pushed in your face or stated like, "Atheism is the only way to go and people who believe in God are stupid." Besides, there are so many good themes that run through the FMA story (like family and friendship being the strongest forces in the world, or treating everyone equally like human beings no matter what state they're in), that they outweigh the regrettable stuff like Ed's "anti-God" speech in Lior.

But how you could convey that to your relatives...you would know better than I :forehead:

ANYWAY, lately I've picked up Lovely Complex again. I watched episodes 1 and 2, and remembered just how hilarious it is! XD I really am embracing my feminine side lately....

Just watched the first episode of Eden of the East on ANN. If the next episode is anything like the first, I'll probably drop the show to maintain a sense of cleanliness.

I'm also looking at Someday's Dreamers. It doesn't have the same 3D element to it, which Eden does (and blends with the 2D characters quite well. I'm impressed), but it looks promising.
In fact, "God" says something to the effect of, 'Did you actually think you could contain everything?' What I DO appreciate about the series is that it didn't exactly work, and was considered evil and conceited. If it had left either of those two things too much more vague, I would've been a little uncomfortable.
[B]Darker than Black] I've been speeding through this, in about two days, and nearly half of them I've had to re-watch with my sister who I accidentally left behind. In short? Amazing. It has a certain feeling of depth that really gets to me, and maybe it's just because I'm a sucker for this type of story, but I've found it one of the more involving and meaningful stories I've seen. The music, particularly the piano theme and first opening/closing, is excellent. The graphics suit it well, as do the character designs. Moves pleasantly fast, even during 'fillers'. (AKA... the beginning. Fooled me though; didn't realize they WEREN'T important until the real plot started) The thing that sticks out to me in the series is of course the main character, Hei. I love his varied behaviors, due to what/who he is, and how they all fit together so well.
One other thing I've noticed... EVERYONE in this series is sleep deprived xD It makes sense given the concepts, but it's a nearly consistent thing. I really like it, though. It adds a lot to the style, mood, and expression of the series.

Marathoned Kaiba yesterday. I truly enjoyed this series. My only gripe would be certain objectionable content in episode 2... just... wrong. The art is just amazing and something totally different from what I'm used to and I love the "sound effects" used throughout. The music is very moving.

I enjoyed the first part more than the later episodes, the end
just seemed to have too many antagonists
but at that point it was somewhere between 1 and 2 am and I think maybe I was just not able to appreciate it as much. I recognised Romi Park as Popo which was cool. This will definitely benefit from a re-watch if I can get around to it eventually.

Sengoku Basara ep. 1-8

"Over the top in every way" doesn't even begin to describe it.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes ep. 1-10

And so it begins. I don't think I am going to have nearly the trouble sticking with the series through its dozens of episodes as I thought I would. It has a dang tight story, with something significant happening plot-wise and character-wise every single episode.

Finished Skip Beat! (*cheering*), currently watching:

Durarara!!: This is taking me forever to finish, which is a shame, since it is such a great anime.

Giant Killing: Can't wait to get back to these episodes, since I put them off to finish Skip Beat.

Kami nomi zo Shiru Sekai: Fun, but low priority, much like Hetalia. Too much brain candy and I'll end up with a cavity where my brain used to be.

So, Bakuman:

Despite some slow pacing and the uh...art issues, I think it's been a pretty good adaptation for the most part. However, in a kind of...strange adaptation decision, they have apparently changed Jump to "Jack," despite the fact that the series has name-dropped real manga left and right just fine.

It's even more bizarre, since there was a very recognizable and prominent picture of Naruto on "Jack's" front cover art. So, this doesn't really make a lot of sense.

La Corda d'Oro ~ Episode 11 Sister pulling me in again T.T Although, can't say it's not interesting... One girl, fifty-hundred men, bishie sparkles everywhere... Yeah, shojo extreme. Some of the characters are interesting though, and the soundtrack is worthwhile. The animation also is up to snuff. I particularly like two of the characters, Azuma and Hihara.
I have this joking insistence that Azuma's going to end up killing Hihara. But alas, I don't think this is a tragic enough series for that type of warfare :P But really. That girl is going to have a messed up life after going through all this 'which bishie to fall in love with' trauma, with or without warfare.
...
...and Azuma IS creepy XD
Tegami Bachi, Letter Bee 1-25 Complete

The potato chips of anime: good, though not the best thing you've ever had; flavorful, though it's a familiar taste. And addictive...oh,so very addictive. One episode is just not filling enough. I am about to reach for another bag, namely Tegami Bachi, Reverse.

Seriously, this show may not grasp perfection, but it has got heart to spare. And that is what keeps me coming back.

Space Pirate Captain Harlock 1-42 Complete

The hearty steak dinner of anime, complete with fine wine. Bold, original flavors that reveal new subtleties in each bite, ambitious ideas and presentation, an experience to savor and to remember. The often imitated space opera that is maximally epic and features the best male lead of all time...do yourself a favor by giving it a try.

The World God Only Knows. There's a gamer guy and a pretty girl--what else do you need to know? And episode 4 this Wednesday was just genius (good even to watch as a stand-alone).
...you must begin a reading program immediately so that you may understand the crises of our age... Begin with the late Romans, including Boethius, of course. Then you should dip rather extensively into early Medieval. You may skip the Renaissance and the Enlightenment. That is mostly dangerous propaganda. Now that I think of it, you had better skip the Romantics and the Victorians too. For the contemporary period, you should study some selected comic books.

I don't think there's any great lack of Baccano! awareness around here, so I can probably let my great love for it be assumed~ My favorite characters are probably Isaac and Miria, though Firo's pretty good too...

Legend of the Galactic Heroes ep. 11-20

I enjoyed the second set of ten much more than the first. Part of that was because the mass name shock has mostly worn off. Another part is that the world is changing so darn quickly that every other episode feels like a normal show's finale. With these episodes, it really proved to me that anything can and will happen in this show, and it will happen entirely without notice or warning. LotGH isn't predictable in the least, and I love it for that very reason.

The last part is that I was able to see firsthand how its tagline fits the show:

"In every age, in every place, the deeds of men remain the same."

No kidding. I would have accused this show of ripping off recent news and events as a ploy to try to be "relevant", except LotGH was made decades before our recent events. It is sad, really, how predictable humanity (with all of its vices) is.

Some interesting stuff recently.

Episode 4 of the Negima OVA, Mou Hitotsu no Sekai continues to be a decent animated version of various events from recent Negima chapters. The second episode of Gundam UC came out on PSN and continues to be the best Gundam show I've ever watched. And finally, the Hidamari Sketch Hoshimittsu specials are more Hidamari and fantastic as usual.
