Does anyone know if there's any new long running shonen anime...

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

That's either just getting started as anime or ones that's just manga right now that could be become a long running anime in a year or 2.

Basicallly I'm just looking for stuff that has potential to be something like:

Naruto
Bleach
One Piece
Dragon Ball Z
D.Gray-Man
Yu Yu Hakusho
Ruroni Kenshin
Fairy Tail
Hunter x Hunter
Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

Nope. There aren't any currently running anime that look to be long-term anime, and as for manga, well... As popular as a manga is, there's no telling whether they'll make a long-term anime out of it. For instance, Pandora Hearts seemed like it would be one of those, but it wasn't.

Have you tried Inu Yasha? It can get pretty good if you can tolerate a certain amount of spirit-based magic.

EDIT: For future requests like these, try using the Anime Recommendations Thread: http://www.christiananime.net/showthread.php?t=40642&page=43

Tegami Bachi is in its second season right now. It is a Shounen Jump title, so it is a safe bet to assume that it could potentially go on for a while. You can watch it on Crunchyroll.

If you are OK with the content in the Hunter x Hunter manga, then you might want to give Claymore a try. Like HxH, it's also a Shounen Jump Advanced series.

I have also heard good things about History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi and Law of Ueki, though they aren't as long as the ones you mentioned.

I think if you read further, you'd see:

As for Dothackzero, I'm afraid I haven't seen (in my severely limited exposure to anime) anything that looks like it will go on for a long time. However what I have seen of InuYasha and Tegami Bachi was very pleasant, and I recommend looking into them, as others have suggested. :)

Why exactly do you want a new long-running series? Couldn't you just...read one of the many that already exist?

It's too early to call whether any of the new series in shonen jump are going to make it to long running status. A good read would be Bakuman, which explains the process of making hit shonen manga and why there are only a few at any given time. Fairy Tale and Reborn are the closest things to 'young' long running shows so far and I think it's too early to call anything else.

There's...Gintama...which I know nothing about except it's 200 episodes and shounen. It's completed, but might be another to look in to...

Gintama is hilarious! However, many of the jokes are quite dirty, so take caution. The animated version can be watched legally on crunchy roll. I watch it myself and find it quite enjoyable.

I tried Gintama, but I really didn't like that much. It just didn't have enough of a story to it. Though I did only get to ep 25ish.

No.

The reason being that the industry tends not to do too many long-running shows anymore. Instead, they are more likely to have shows that are broken up into several seasons (see, for instance, Tegami Bachi). After all, here's the list of shows that are currently airing and have been running for longer than one year:

Bleach (Fall 04)
Doraemon (Spring 05)
Dragonball Kai (Spring 09)
Fairy Tail (Fall 09)
Gokujou!! Mecha Mote Iinchou (Spring 09)
Gokyoudai Monogatari (Fall 09)
Inazuma Eleven (Fall 08)
Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (Fall 06)
Keroro Gunsou (Spring 04)
Kupu! Mamegoma (Winter 09)
Mainichi Kaasan (Spring 09)
Detective Konan (Winter 96)
Naruto Shippuuden (Winter 07)
Negibouzu no Asatarou (Fall 08)
One Piece (Fall 99)
Tamagocchi! (Fall 09)
Uchi no 3 Shimai (Spring 08)
Yu-Gi-Oh 5D's (Spring 08)

Notice that not too much is different from your list.

I've watched a few episodes of it. It's funny, but as Rock said many of the jokes are dirty, so probably not quite recommended if you don't mind stuff like that.

I wish that Ultimo would be made into a anime, but it's still too young I think. If they do a Ultimo anime it will probably be long running. However, there's no guarantee that it will. :/
