Dancing Singing Robot

Postby ashfire » Sat Oct 23, 2010 4:58 pm

:oHas anyone else seen the dancing singing robot from Japan on the internet?
You think you are watching a real person with a face, hair and a dress except the legs are metal and has backup dancers.:dance:
It also has some moves.

At what point do you look at your life and think, "I'm a backup dancer for a robot. A back up dancer. For a robot."

And until they make a robot that can dance like this, I will not be impressed.

Haha, that was pretty much my reaction -- "I'm not sure whether this is really creepy or really cool. Or both."

Okay, that was both creepy and cool. Anyone else think that having real background dancers worked against the display? Instead of showing how life-like the robot was, it revealed how um... 'robotic' it really was.

HRP-4C is interesting, but I agree that they shouldn't have used human back-up dancers, since it only underlines how inhuman the "idol" is. The Sony robots, on the other hand, manage to avoid weirding people out /because/ they look like robots. Well, in a human-like shape, but without a human face & all ;-}

Okay, the weird thing about that one is that I think if I walked into a store and that was behind the counter, I might not be able to tell that it wasn't human.
