So...K-On! I really don't like this very much.

But...K-On!! I'm loving it!

I'm not sure what has happened--the show may have actually improved, or my tastes may have changed a bit since I watched season one, or maybe both. But whatever it is, I am enjoying season two of this show significantly more than the first.

That's how I felt about K-ON as well. I've been meaning to write on my blog to try and articulate why I think that is but grad school applications have been striking fear into my heart recently.

Kemono no Souja Erin eps 31-38- Managed to marathon due to some free time today. I have comments on these eps, but they'll be going in the Let's Watch thread after I've caught up with that.

All I can say is..... Cool Beans!

Heroman 1-4 - Not bad, a little childish, but has potential to have a good story.

Roujin Z - Good OVA, I saw this because Satoshi Kon was a part of it. Interesting ideas, I wish the art was a little bit better.

Oh, gee, that is stressful. Good luck with that. And I'll be looking forward to hearing what you have to say about K-ON, since I can't figure out why I like it myself. =)

I finished the rest of Kemono no Souja Erin, and all I can say is wow. Good stuff, really good stuff. And I can't even pin down why it was good. I don't usually like watching series that have lengths of over 26 episodes, but this one didn't bother me at all. It starts off slow, and I have to admit I wasn't sold until maybe 10 or so episodes in, but I really enjoyed the rest of the show. Especially the middle portion--the Kazalum arc being my favorite.

The art and music are nice, if a bit different, and the setting feels very well fleshed out, but it was the characterization that stood out to me as especially excellent. Erin was an interesting and sympathetic lead, and her growth throughout the show was very well done. The supporting cast is pretty massive, and they cycled through different groups of characters throughout the whole show, but I found all of the characters were easily likable and memorable.

I did have a few issues with it, though--it started off kind of boring, and the ending felt a little bit lacking compared with the rest of the series (but, I guess that can be forgiven, since there are two other novels that they did not animate). There were also a few too many flashbacks and use of recycled animation, but overall, it is one of the best things I have seen in a while. Highly recommended.

I am also re-watching and reigniting my love for Natsume Yuujinchou. Episode 6...well, I think I can say that this is a strong competitor for my favorite single episode of anime ever. I've watched it several times already, but I am always in tears by the end. This time around was no exception.

So I finished FMA: Brotherhood and listened to the FMA Spoilercast again and feel the need to express some thoughts/opinions about it, so I'll be texting up the thread.

This is just a bunch of very haphazard comments. Do yourself a favour and don’t read if you haven’t finished Brotherhood or the manga since there are spoilers.

Firstly though I would like some suggestions about the following; I really want to get my (sister and) brother-in-law to watch it, but he is not a fan of anime and I think Ed’s “god speechâ€

Finally finished Occult Academy and Kemono no Souja Erin. Occult Academy was decent- though I really, REALLY wish they hadn't gone all over the place with the plot. And Kemono no Souja Erin? Awesome.

I re-watched episodes 1-6 of FMA, showing it to my dad! He's liking it so far! I still need to show Mom the last disc of season 1! Oh well, we'll eventually get to it, since we're re-watching it with Dad! XD!!!

Rainbow 1-4- Excuse me while I untangle my heartstrings. Dang. This show doesn't pull punches when it comes to making you root for and cry for the protagonists. They show the hideously ugly, underbelly of the War's aftermath of Japan, and do it well. I can't wait to wwatch the rest of this series.... Well, yes I can. I will have to pace myself so I don't worry my friends with how much I'm crying!

Himitsu -top secret- 17-20- Been a while since I've watched this! After a stand-alone episode, it went into a bio-terrorism arc, and got pretty good.

Shiki 12- I don't know why, but as I keep watching, I get less and less interested in this particular series. I think I'll watch it out since it's only an episode a week, butthe middle part of this series is gonna drag, I think.

Um, yes- I've seen Time of Eve. I think a lot of people on here have seen Time of Eve (at, least I would hope!). It's one of the best sci-fi anime out there, IMHO.

Oh, yeah- finished up Himitsu -top secret- today. Good, good series. I think that it was a lot more solid towards the end than it was at the beginning, especially concerning the characters and their personal lives. There was one thing that didn't go anywhere with the main charcter (not sure whether that's good or bad), and a few other things were left up for grabs. But the various threads that they did decide to focus on were all solid and put in throughout the anime.

Okamisan was fun! And Time of Eve is flat out amazing.

Decided to drop Togainu no Chi after two episodes, although I could put up with the bits of gay innuendo, it feels too pointlessly brutal. So whereas Baccano! makes me cringe, I don't have any real issue with it, but Togainu no Chi seems just...harsh. I will be following any reviews for it though in case it gets better. :)

Bakuman ep 3 -- still fun, a refreshingly clean and easy-going anime. :D And informative. Though what is "a name"? For anyone following it?

Tegami Bachi 2 ep 2 -- I hope muchly that Gauche is in this season more, though I am having little hope for that? It will still probably be totally worth sticking with. I love the concept too much.

Star Driver ep. 3 -- No clue what's going on! But so pretty, so fun, so fluid and Takagi rocks.

Otome Youkai Zakuro ep 2 -- this is so fun! Nothing particularly deep, but it's cute and enjoyable all the same. :) Hopefully it stays such.

Squid Girl ep. 1 -- I found Squid Girl to be boring. I don't know if it was just the wrong mood to watch it, or what, but it just felt driveless. I'll give it another 1-2 episodes but it will probably end up dropped.

Going to curl up with Bleach and Nura in a minute, then I'll be all caught up. :P

That definition was given in the manga- a "name" is basically a rough sketch of an idea for a manga. An outline, so to speak.

Also- if you aren't happy with the Tegami Bachi anime, I do recommend picking up the manga. Less filler in that.

I'm hoping Tegami Bachi: Reverse actually follows the manga this time. They have plenty of manga material, so there is no excuse for filling most of a cour with (largely) low-quality filler.

Space Battleship Yamato: The Movie

Really good movie, even if you've never seen the Yamato (Star Blazers in the U.S.) TV series. An alien race nukes the Earth to wipe out humanity and take the planet. The last vestiges of mankind receives a message from a far-away planet proclaiming that they have a device which can restore the neigh-uninhabitable Earth to its former beauty. The catch? Earth will be unlivable in one year, so time is of the essence. Plus the same folks that nuked Earth will be out hunting down any would-be saviors.

Quality sci-fi, if a bit by-the-numbers. Great drama. Fantastic ending.

Just in case you're wondering, Yamato is where a veritable who's who of anime greats got their start: Leji Matsumoto, "The Nish", Yoshiyuki Tomino, Noburo Ishiguro, etc, etc.

In conclusion: it's worth a watch, though it's pretty long.

I got up to episode 17 in FMA: Brotherhood. From here on out, things are only going to get better. It's going into one of my favorite parts of the manga (Al and Hawkeye vs. Lust), the OP got better (too bad about the ED, though), and there's much more to come.

Kuragehime 1- I think that I'll stick with this one. I found it.... interesting. Likeable? Ummm.... I don't know yet. I'll stick with it for 3 episodes to see.

Soredemo Machi wa Mawatteiru 1- Dropped. Hated it. I couldn't even finish the first episode.

Shinrei Tantei Yakumo 1-2- I don't think it's as good as Ghost Hunt, but I'm sticking with it anyway.

Tamayura 1-2- Lovely. Just lovely. Reminds me a lot of ARIA. Too bad it's only 4 episodes long!

Finished: Shugo Chara Doki Would it be mean of me to admit that I only watched it for Ikuto? -_- I eventually kindled affection for a couple others, but Ikuto and Yoru were the ones that really stuck. I really liked it, after my sister had already been watching for quite awhile... It was worth it, in my opinion, even if it's completely opposite to my usual interests
