Favorite Live Action theme songs

Postby rocklobster » Tue Oct 05, 2010 5:45 am

One thing I don't like about TV today is the fact that today's TV shows don't seem to make much effort in making theme songs like they used to. Back in the day, TV shows had songs that were great to listen to. Here's some of my faves:
Doctor Who (note: This is the one used for the end of Tom Baker's era and the entire Peter Davison era. I do like the revival's version, but this one gives me nostalgic goosebumps.)
Batman (yes, I liked this show. Deal with it.)
Star Trek (original)
Star Trek TNG
Star Trek: Voyager
Star Trek: Deep Space Nine
The Cosby Show (the NBC one)
Touched By an Angel
You Can't Do That On Television
Mighty Morphin Power Rangers
The A-Team
Quantum Leap
Mythbusters
The X-files

I don't think House's should count. In case you didn't know, it was actually a song long before the show even aired. It's a song called "Teardrop" by Massive Attack. You're just hearing the version without lyrics.
some themes I forgot:
The Addams Family (feel free to snap along. You know you want to.
The Home Improvement Theme
Alf
Punky Brewster(the cartoon, not so much)
Oh and Nate, I've been a fan of Strongbad for quite a while. I just wish they'd update the show more often.

But really, I think The Office and How I Met Your Mother have really fantastic theme songs. XD

lol - really? One of my favorites doesn't count?

I know it was created by Massive Attack, and I don't care. I still like it. I think it was a very apt selection for the opening sequence, even if it wasn't created by the TV show. In fact, the impression that I get from the portion that was used in the opening sequence is far different than the impression I get from the song as a whole.

Well, a good number of them have been listed such as Twin Peaks, Airwolf and Alf, Night Rider and Alf.

But since no one posted a click of the theme for Airwolf and Night Rider. Here you go,

Airwolf Theme

Knight Rider Theme

Miami Vice theme

Well, my mind is not what it use to be!

I forgot about these as I watch those two shows as well as not listing Cheers on that list that I had.

I can't believe that no one has posted these yet:

I Love Lucy

The Muppet Show

The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

The Twilight Zone

Stargate SG-1

Stargate: Atlantis

Also, is it horrible that now that I know Quantum Leap is pretty much about giving Scott Bakula the excuse to do some major cross-dressing, I really want to watch it?

Highlander: The Series...

And yes, it counts... Queen made it for the Highlander movie... seeing as Highlander was a spinoff of the movie and all... it counts. And that is the only TV show intro worth mentioning that I can think of.

OH!! Forgot about this: Tales from the Crypt
Can't believe I almost forgot that one. That was like my favorite TV show opening ever. In fact... the DVDs suck because it skips this part on each episode. Of all the shows to cut the intro to... cause usually, I wish they would cut the intros...

Yup... that's all the good ones IMO...

OH SNAP Sanford and Son! That's a great show.

Josh I was surprised. When I saw you posted in this thread I thought for sure you were going to post this. Maybe not that one specifically, but any of the versions.

Oh my gosh. Nate... you're... you're right. How on earth could that have been forgotten?

This thread has me convinced that I have seriously not watched enough American television.

I don't know why I haven't posted these before, but I'm going to rectify it right now.

GARO opening 1 (I actually kind of like this one better than the second.)

GARO opening 2

Daimajin Kanon

Kamen Rider Blade opening 1 (It's a hard, HARD call between this or opening 2 as to which is more awesome.)

Kamen Rider Blade opening 2

Kamen Rider Hibiki opening 1 (Although the second opening has the awesome Akira Fuse in it, I still think this is the better opening.)

Kamen Rider Den-O

Kamen Rider Kiva

Kamen Rider W

Kamen Rider OOO

Engine Sentai Go-Onger

Samurai Sentai Shinkenger

Tokusou Sentai Dekaranger

Ninja Sentai Kakuranger

Tomica Hero Rescue Force opening 1 (Like Blade, I can't decide between this and opening 2.)

Tomica Hero Rescue Force opening 2

Tomica Hero Rescue Fire opening 1 (I like this one way better than opening 2.)

Super Robot Red Baron

And of course, we can't forget...

KAMEN RIDER...BLACK!
