I'm watching "Legend of Legendary Heroes" and liking it so far. It's rather violent though, but that's part of the story...

Blkmage, definitely check out the Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind manga. The series is a bit more pessimistic than the movie but there's a lot more depth and character development. The manga is available in 7 volumes equalling well over 1,000 pages. Great art, great story!

Watched Erin up to episode 8. I liked the art and story, but the characters didn't really draw me in. It'll probably be on my "nibble list" for a while (like Galaxy Express 999... I think I've been "watching" that since sometime last year). Maybe I'll get more hooked in later.

Finished up Eden of the East (the series). Enjoyed the comedy and social satire, but I thought a lot of the suspense/drama/action was diffused by awkward execution. I usually prefer subs, but I'm looking forward to this dub hoping it will feel more cohesive.

Holy Moses, Baccano! is quite bloody, isn't it?

That Dude, is that your first time seeing The Castle of Cagliostro? What did you think of the movie? I thought it was very good, if a little plodding in the middle. Some great action, characters and laughs. The female characters are a bit one-dimensional though.

The manga is awesomer. Definitely check it out.

Agreed. What did you think of The Castle of Cagliostro? I thought it was one of the best anime movies I have ever seen.

Let me also chime in with a request to hear about your Cagliostro experience, if for no other reason than it is a wonderful, beautiful movie that doesn't get talked about enough. For my money, it's the co-best Miyazaki film out there (along w/ Mononoke). I really loved every element in the movie, but the fact that certain trademark elements of the later Miyazaki were not present, i.e. a heavy-handed environmentalist message, made it all the more sweet.

EDIT: You know what would be pretty funny? If after all of the gushing over the movie, That Dude posts something like, "Uh...it was OK I guess." Has to happen =).

I actually don't see Miyazaki's movies as being heavy-handed but being passionate about the environment. Still, he doesn't show much love for the human species.
I don't have the same love for Cagliostro as the others here but it's still a great movie - quality animation, inventive action and humour, an intriguing spy story and some very interesting characters.

Finished the last half of Baccano! (episodes 8-16). I thought it was a great anime and although the ending was very different to what I expected, I really enjoyed it. Only downside to the series was an over-reliance on gore.

I think this is more a result of Brains Base faithfully adapting the light novels, which can get away with such acts with being called over-reliant on gore, rather than Brains Base reveling in the gore.

Eden of the East Movie II: Paradise Lost was kind of disappointing. I know that Eden of the East isn't exactly the most action-packed series, but the two movies were not very good movies. For whatever reason, they decided movies were a better format than another TV series and that's an assessment that I disagree with. Movie II in particular has even less exciting stuff that happens than Movie I did and in its stead, we got a bunch of hilarious political nonsense. I guess they really wanted to drive home the fact that this is somehow supposed to be about Japan's social malaise.

I did enjoy it, but found it a somewhat underwhelming ending. And I'm also kind of wondering what the point of doing two movies compared to another TV series was as there wasn't any visible advantages. Not like there was a lot of action scenes. And the movies probably had less action than the series.

I finished the first season of GetBackers.
I really like the plotline of the episodes. I'm just not a fan of fanservice.
It's not QUITE as bad as it could be, but still... I think that part alone will hinder me from buying the series. But I really do love pretty much all of the characters.

Seirei no Moribito 16-26 Complete- A fantastic fantasy anime. Characterization? Awesome. Plot? Excelent. Pacing? Very good. One of the best anime out there.

Kaiba 1-12 Complete- Mind-bending and mind-blowing. This depends on you taking things as they are plot-wise, but analysing the symbolism in names and plot elements. An incredible story all in all.

Himitsu -Top Secret- 1-4- Well. For being a more recent show, the animation is subpar for 2008. And this has several leftover animation tricks from the 90's, like a dramatic flash of light when the main guy meets his boss (and gives it an unfortunate yaoi undertone- thankfully, I haven't seen any signs of such a relationship). This is also a drama like Gray's Anatomy, mixing personal drama with professional. Seen in the second and third episodes, where you realize that there's
a parallel with the illicit love of the US president, and the main's love of his sister. Yeah, that's right. He loves his sister, but there hasn't been any sign of her having similar feelings.
So. It's not too bad, a little melodramatic, but I want to see how this plays out. Especially since I like police dramas, and that bit is done very well.

I am watching Final Fantasy Unlimited... ah, so cheap, yet so awesome!! (Says the obsessive and extremely-accepting person) It's so dumb it's cool X) Like... they just sort of throw characters in, and pretend they're developed, and the watcher ends up accepting that. And then there's Kaze, and there's no words for him :P OMIGOSH I wish that one thing hadn't taken pulled the robe off of his face though... it's so hideous >.< Anyway, childish, and not the best soundtrack... and can anyone say 'cheap'? But I'm getting an unbelievable amount of enjoyment from it.

And insult Kaze, and you may find a knife in your throat :P

I think I'm on episode 30 of Kaitou Saint Tail...but I think YouTube messed up the numbers somewhere along the way, so it says it's 31....

Cross Game through episode 21. One of the best slice-of-life series I've ever seen. Okay, it's really one of the best anime I've ever seen, period. The animation and art are fantastic, the music is nice, the story is charming and full of heart, the characters are easy to love (Ko is well on his way to becoming one of my favorite anime/manga protagonists ever) and character dynamics and interactions are great (and, no, I'm not necessarily talking about Aoba and Ko). Anyone who loves slice-of-life anime and hasn't watched this yet should give it a chance. Seriously. Do it now.
