Prayer for my Cat and Family.

Postby Nami » Mon Sep 06, 2010 11:11 am

Er, Ok...this isn't for me and this may sound silly at least the first request. But I would appreciate some prayer, because I am really worried.

First off, is George. He's my cat. He's going on to be 5 or 6 years old, and he's gained some problems. What they are I'm not sure yet, he's been acting weird for months now. At first I was certain it was fleas (that's partially it) Then he dropped weight so fast it wasn't funny. He's got scabs all over his neck from scratching. He pees where he knows he's not supposed to and when he eats he scarfs down all his food...only, he hasn't gained more than a half-a-pound! I told my Mother who knows a whole lot about cats from working in an Animal Shelter for 4 1/2 years. She said it could be hook worm, or some other worm, or cancer. She says he could be dying slowly and that he hasn't been healthy ever since he was a kitten. So this problem has been on-going. I'm very concerned for him, he is my baby and every time I think about how I'll lose him I almost break down.

Second off, my Uncle Kevin. He told me some stuff that FREAKED the crap out of me, mostly because it sounds like demonic presences rather than "light" presence. He thinks we are made of "light" and a bunch of crap, and he believes in God. He thinks he has a "telepathy" with my Mother... about how each other "feel" also, he thinks that if he "sucks up the sun, because we are creatures of light we'll feel full." I really..really... really fear for him and my cousin, because he's going to "make her" try moving things with her mind! I swear, I was shaken that day he told me these things. The only reason I'm telling you guys is because this is scary, and he believes he can do this stuff. When he was telling me all this...I had imagined Satan laughing on his chair at my Uncle and that shook me...quite literally. I was shaking. So please, prayer for my Uncle and my Cousin, who is the sweetest girl alive and needs to know God better. She's getting mixed messages and she never wants to talk about it. I am at a loss because she is gone for the summer, so...prayer is good.

Thank you everyone.

Perhaps you could take George to a vet. If it's a worm, that can most likely be taken care of easily. There may still be time for him.

Sounds like your uncle's not quite on his rocker. What does he think of the bible? What does your cousin think of the bible? Do they know the Gospel?

I had a cat who had the same problems as your kitty, and it turned out to be cancer. :( You should take him to the vet if you can. I'll pray for you; I know how hard it is to see your pet hurting.

As for your uncle, that's...definitely pretty odd. Does he have a history of mental illness or anything?

I'm sorry about your cat- I hope that the vet can figure out what's wrong.

Secondly, about you uncle- that doesn't sound like demons, that sounds like Schitzophrenia. But I'm not a mental health professional. You and your family should take him to one and have him evaluated at the same time you go to your Bibles. Mental illness can manifest in anyone, even if they don't have a prior history. It's possible that he's had delusions like this before, it's possible he hasn't. Either way, take him to a mental health professional.

While you should always rule out mental illness, I don't think her uncle has mental illness. I used to be interested in the occult and telepathy, sun worship and other such things having to do with the sun are forms of demonic activity. We should never make the mistake of thinking that things like this are only mental - they are not. I have a past involvement in these things and know from experience.

@Hiryu; I'm going to tomorrow, I want to take him to a vet, but I don't know if I'll have money for the bill.

I'm not sure, I don't think he reads the bible but he believes in God. My Cousin doesn't like to discuss God at all, I never asked her because it made her uncomfortable.

@ShiroiHikari; thank you, alright... I was afraid it would be cancer...if that's so then I don't know what to do. I hope that the vet can give me a clearview on it.

No he doesn't, not that I know of anyway. He used to have insomnia really bad as a child... that might've effected him.

@Atria; Yeah me too.

Haha, he is a stubborn mule! If we suggested it he would freak out and get mad, we wouldn't be able to take him anywhere. It might be, but he used to claim to be a pagan.. I don't know what's going on in the addict.

It's possible that the paganism affected him, but paganism rarely leads to demon posession or mental illness. You should still call around the mental health professionals in your area and see if you can get one to work with you on ways to get him in for an evalutation. A lot of them are surprisingly helpful with that, since they understand how hard it can be to get someone in.

Hmm, indeed. I agree, but it worried me deeply when he was talking. I would, but I don't even know where to begin... he believes in Aliens too >>; he believes in a lot of nutty stuff. Its fairly new...all this talk he said... so.. it sounds a whole lot like he made it up.

As said, that sounds like delusions. Believing in aliens isn't necessarily a sign of mental illness, but coupled with this other behavior it sounds like it's another delusion. Again, mental illness can appear without warning (at least, to those who maybe don't have regular contact or aren't around them 24/7). Delusions can be triggered by anything, and grow on themselves. Everyone knows the basics of aliens, so it's not hard to believe it's related to the 'sun being' thing.

The place to begin is the phone book. There should be some listed under 'Psychiatrist'.

Did I mention that I have real life experience in this and that you should also consider spiritual aspects? xD

You might want to talk to your Uncle more and figure out in detail what he thinks and the history of how it all started.

Of course we'll pray

Also umm that "Light" thing is really creepy and odd (I almost shivered there) I'd agree that you should find out fully what he's thinking and let us know.
And this I pray, that your love would abound still, more and more with real knowledge and all discernment. Be prepared to preach the gospel at a moment's notice. Do you know the gospel well enough to do so yourself? Be ready.

@Atria; it does sound like delusions, or that he is just believing what he wants to believe, people do that a lot unfortunately. But I don't think he has a mental illness to be honest... don't people who have mental illnesses act strangely? Besides his whack-a-doo story, he is solid. I'm concerned its not something a Psychiatrist can fix.

@Jim; You did mention that yes ^^ I am definitely considering spiritual aspects...somethings' not right. Its too soon to rule it out. If I asked him more about it, he'd think I was sincerely interested...so how do I ask without it seeming that way?

@Furen; Indeed! You should have heard him tell the story, he genuinely believes it. Of course, I don't doubt it, I just don't think it was something good.

Also, something I forgot to mention was...he said he "focused his energy" and stuck it through his best friend, and his friend said; "I don't feel anything." then he ripped his hands back and his friend went; "WHOA! What was that? IT felt like something just got tugged out of me."

...Demonic? Maybe. I wouldn't rule it out.

A lot of people have that misperception. It's true that SOME people who have mental illness behave strangely, but it depends on the illness and the person. There are plenty of people with mental illness that appear merely eccentric, or have one odd thing about them while the rest is normal. That's part of why mental illness is considered underdiagnosed- because a lot of people don't realize that they have it.

I'm not saying to rule out the possibility that it's spiritual- it's just that I've seen so many Chrisitans go straight to the spiritual possibilities instead of considering that it could be something that could be taken care of with medicine. After all, not all plagues are caused by God's anger at humanity.

Indeed. I see. Well, I won't rule it out and I am grateful for your advise. I will pray about it and see if this is what I should do. Taking a huge step like that can be dangerous if you place your foot wrong.

^ That is true. That's also why I suggest counseling with a psychiatrist beforehand. During their training they would have come across patients that didn't want to be dealt with, and would have learned some methods for coping. They can also determine whether there is a physical cause for his perceptions- it's possible that there is a brain tumor that's causing the delusions. It's not all that common, but does happen enough that it's considered a real possibility.

But wether the issue is spiritual or mental, the better off it's diagnosed, the better off he'll be. If it is a mental illness, then it'll behave like a physical one. The symptoms will get worse, and the worse they get, the harder and longer the treatment will be.

Hmmm yeah that definitely doesn't sound God like though...

Indeed. You see what I mean. >>;

@Tsuki; Thank you dear! :3

@Atria; I understand. But I'd prefer to pray about it for a while before calling someone. I would like to see if it helps, if it is mental then I will look into.
