And here's another Cowboy Bebop cast member: Beau Billingslea. He's most famous as Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop. He has a deep, rich voice and even appeared in Megas XLR and played Trenton Jordan on Young and the Restless.
Here's a sample of his voice roles in anime:
Cyborg 009: Cyborg 005
Gungrave: Bear Walken
Outlaw Star: Narrator
Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie: Dee Jay

Beau Billingslea was PERFECTLY cast as Jet Black on Cowboy Bebop! He plays the father figure role perfectly, and his rich deep voice is a real gift to the anime community and, dare I say, tragically underused!

Rocklobster wrote:Our next subject is New Jersey native Liam O'Brien. Among his anime roles:
Gaara in Naruto--I had no idea he did this kid! That's some range!
Ukitake in Bleach (Captain Tuberculosis!)
Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy
Dr. Kenzo Tenma in Monster (he's really good as this character!)
Yoji Suganuma in Boogiepop Phantom
Lloyd in Code Geass
Detective Maniwa in Paranoia Agent

Liam O'Brien is another really cool voice in the anime game. I love the way he plays the "best friend" role like Taishi in "Comic Party" and Makoto in "Boys Be...". In addition, he's a very talented director and english dub writer, teaming up as co-director with fellow V/A Sam Regal for the english production of "Boys Be..." which is a very well done dub. The only thing I can recognize him from (that I've seen the dub of) is Paranoia Agent- he did a terrific job with that role. I thought his acting skills were indistinguishable from those of the Japanese VA's, which was awesome, and he matched the character terrifically!

Let's not forget his video game roles! He was Barrett in Dirge of Cerberus and Advent Children (not a game, but still a CG-fest based on one), Cao Ren in all the Dynasty Warriors/Orochi games, and Dian Wei in a few of them too. Also Adray in Star Ocean 3.

Johnny Yong Bosch and Wendee Lee aren't the only people who worked on Power Rangers before the came into anime. Brianne Siddall is also another one. She started out as the voice of Circuit, a mechanical owl from Power Rangers Time Force. She usually plays soft-spoken characters. Here's a sampling of Brianne Siddall's work:
Jim Hawkins (Outlaw Star)
Tsukasa (.hack//sign)
several Digimon characters, including Koromon, Calumon, Tommy Himi and Keenan Crier
Gimmy (Gurren Lagann)

I've only heard Beau Billingsley as Jet from Cowboy Bebop, but I loved him in that role. He was perfectly cast, imo.

Liam O'Brien is pretty amazing. He was great as Vincent Law in Ergo Proxy, and as Tenma in Monster. I never realized he was Lloyd from Code Geass, though. I wasn't as fond of his Lloyd, honestly, but that may just be a case of me liking the seiyuu so much that I wasn't really giving the VA a chance.

Yuri Lowenthal usually really impresses me. His Suzaku is one of the best dub performances in Code Geass, imho. I didn't see much of Gurren Lagann dubbed, but I did really like his Simon. And he was also impressive as Daedelus in Ergo Proxy.

Christopher Sabat played so many characters in Dragon Ball Z and Kai that it's amazing they hired other actors.
Among his DB and DBZ characters are: Vegeta, Piccolo, Yamcha, Kami, King Piccolo, Zarbon, Jeice, Burter, Recoome, Guru, Korin, and Mr. Popo
he also plays:
Alex Luiz Armstrong from FullMetal Alchemist (his voice acting has been passed through the Armstrong family for generations!)
Jigen in Lupin III
Kazuma in Yu Yu Hakusho
Keith in Blue Gender

Chris Sabat is awesome. The first role I ever heard him in was Ayame in Fruits Basket. So imagine my surprise when I discovered that he was also Armstrong in FMA!! :D And I loved him as Kurogane in Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles and Kasanoda in Ouran High School Host Club. Oh, and his commentary with Travis Willingham and Caitlin Glass in Ouran was hysterical.

Here's an entry that will surprise a good portion of you: Patrick Stewart! Yes, the same Patrick Stewart who played Captain Picard on Star Trek: TNG, Captain Ahab in a TV movie based on Moby Dick, Gurney Hallack in Dune (the one made by David Lynch. He only had like 4 scenes, but it still counts), Professor Charles Xavier in X-men, and Ebenezer Scrooge in a TV version of A Christmas Carol has also appeared in two anime movies: in Steamboy, he plays Lloyd Steam, and in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind he plays Lord Yupa. Since I'm such a Star Trek geek, you can imagine the joy I experienced hearing his voice in a Miyazaki movie. And acted in his usual excellent style, too boot.

Found 2 more I recognize....

Chris Sabat: Loved his role as Kurogane in Tsubasa, and I think he was one of the collectors in the xxxHOLiC Movie.

Patric Stewart: He did excellent in Nausicaa!!!

Okay; I find it hard to believe that nobody, and I mean NOBODY mentioned this V/A. His squeaky-raspy voice can be heard playing such characters as:

1/2 of the Hitachiin twins in "Ouran High School Host Club"
The Ten-Year-Old Wizarding Genius Negi Springfield in "Negima?!"
Koyuki in "Beck Mongolian Chop Squad"
Hideaki in "Nerima Daikon Brothers"
Kosuke Asazuki in "Spiral"
Chrono in "Chrono Crusade"

He was also the voice of Newtype USA magazine for umpteen amount of years!

In addition, his voice can also be heard on the "Voices for Tolerance" album available on iTunes preforming the song "All The Same" which rocks harder than anything I've heard before or sense.

On top of that, he is a big fan of the anime craft and has real love for it! His love for it is so strong, even Kira couldn't kill him!

Of course I'm talking about the multi-talented, multi-cultural, multi-hair colored Greg Ayres!

There's a good reason I didn't bring up Greg Ayres. I've only watched one anime and listened to his voice. (he played Son Goku in Saiyuki) All the other titles I've seen with him in I've either only watched subbed (like Chrono Crusade) or haven't even seen yet. I'm only going to list people I'm familiar with. Sorry.
Our next profile is Richard Ian Cox (in some cases, his middle name is not listed). For some reason, the guy keeps getting casted as jerks. He plays Inuyasha, Ranma Saotome, Kai in Mobile Suit Gundam, and Allelujah in Mobile Suit Gundam 00.

Sadly, as good of a job as he did, Sarah Strange was superior to him as male Ranma. It's not his fault, he did good, just her voice fit better as far as I'm concerned.

His voice is so unique. I quite like him...in certain roles.

But...didn't Funimation cast him as Abe Takaya (Ookiku Furikabutte)?

Our next subject is someone who will be familiar to those of you who've watched ADV's dub of Evangelion: Spike Spencer, voice of Shinji Ikari. Here's some of his other roles:
Rolo in Code Geass R2
Shien in Saiyuki
Seita in Grave of The Fireflies (his best role, IMHO)

I like what little I've heard of Chris Sabat's voice work - Armstrong from FMA and Kurogane from Tsubasa. He has such a rich, deep voice. Great for barrel-chested men, lol :P I think he also fits well into the "grr, go away, I'm grouchy and don't want friends" role like Kurogane. (I just...really wish they could pronounce Kurogane right in the dub DX One more instance of "kuh-ROW-guh-nay" and I will rip my hair out.)

I also heard Patrick Stewart in Steamboy; overall I found that a very good dub. It was nice to hear people trying to make the accents sound right, instead of just using American accents and hoping for the best.

I know Greg Ayres as Bido (the lizard chimera in Devil's Nest) from FMA, and Tsuyoshi from Kodocha. Haven't really heard enough of him to recognize his voice, in other words.
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

Mona Marshall has worked in voice acting so long, her non-anime voice credits even include Rainbow Brite and Penny from Inspector Gadget (in the pilot. After the pilot, Cree Summer, another great non-anime VA tookover)! But we're here for the anime:
Li in Cardcaptor Sakura: The Sealed Card
Yumeko in Kekkaishi
Luciola in Last Exile
Asuka in Noein
Plue in Rave Master (the carrot-nosed dog?)
Elizabeth and Kite in Trigun (I don't recognize Elizabeth, but I know Kite was the kid that stowed away on the train that was attacked by Brilliant Dynamites Neon)
Toboe in Wolf's Rain

Rocklobster, you're back on my Christmas List.

Mona Marshall is, by far, my favorite female anime V/A! While, yes, she can be a bit of a one-note at times with her voice, the THINGS she can do with that one note makes her an outstanding V/A in my book...save for the time when she was cast as Ryoko in the latest "Tenchi Muyo" series. I'm still a little "Why, oh why, oh why" about that bit of casting...

Anyway, my favorite Mona Marshall roles have to be:

Chagum from "Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit" (Darn it all, now I feel like watching it again...)

Koushiro "Izzy" Izumi from "Digimon: Digimon Monsters" (Come on...say it with me...you know you wanna...Mona Marshall's portrayal of our resident computer nerd was nothing sort of...come on...say it with me on three....1...2...3...

BTW, KBS, you can catch Moribito on Crunchy Roll. Oh, and it's based on a book, which is also worth reading.
Sadly, not all of the VA's I'm spotlighting are still alive. One that is not is Bob Papenbrook, who died in 2006. His roles include:
Roscoe in Big O
Ken-Goh in Eureka 7 (eps 1-28)--If you don't recognize the name, he's the dude with the Snidely Whiplash mustache.
Shadow Knight in Kikaider 01
Koshijirou Kamiya, Heizo Ogawa, Hyottoko, Muraki Uramura in Rurouni Kenshin

Her voice as Syaoran Li in the second Cardcaptor Sakura movie was one of the very few voices I could tolerate in the dub! I admit, she did a pretty good job. The second role I've heard her in was as Jun Sakurada in Rozen Maiden, which in my opinion, was amazing! I like her as Jun better than as Li.

I may try and find the book, but with regards to the anime series, I already found the complete collection at Wal-Mart for $25! Imagine my surprise! All the episodes in one box!

Bob Papenbrook also played the voice of Rito Rivolto on a few early, early seasons of "Mighty Morphin Power Rangers". He was awesome in that role.

Our next spotlight is Lia Sargent. She certainly has an impressive resume. Here's some of her contributions:
R. Dorothy Wayneright in Big O
Judy in Cowboy Bebop (the female host of Big Shot for those who don't recognize the name)
Yukino Hojo and Satoka Tachikawa and Gatekeepers 21 (she also played Yokino in the original Gatekeepers, but I've only seen Gatekeepers 21)
Magudaria Sayo in Rurouni Kenshin
Chisa Yomoda in Serial Experiments Lain (the girl who kills herself in ep 1)
Chun-Li in various Street Fighter II anime
Milly Thompson in Trigun

Mona Marshall, like all the other actors in Wolf's Rain, fit her character very well and sounded uncannily like her Japanese version.

I loved her role as Milly in Trigun. She played that role perfectly, and to hear that the same person played Dorthy in "Big O" blows my ever-loving mind! They sound like two different people! I especially love her portrayal of Claire Rondo from "Planetes". Again, had I not looked, I would never have known. She's awesome!

And here's someone else with Power Rangers history in his resume: Tony Oliver! He produced many Power Rangers spinoffs and two copycats: VR Troopers and the American version of Kamen Rider known as Masked Rider. (I call them copycats because both VR Troopers and Masked Rider used Sentai shows for action footage) He's even starred in them as well. Here's just a sample of his anime work:
Ulquiorra in Bleach (the dude who looks like he could substitute for Robyn Smith of the Cure)
Narrator in Gurren Lagann
Rick Hunter in Robotech
Ryo-Ohki in Tenchi Muyo
Harry McDowell in Gungrave
Hap and Gonzy in Eureka Seven

Apparently, Tony Oliver was a horse in Wolf's Rain  /randomfacts
You can find out things about the past that you never knew. And from what you've learned, you may see some things differently in the present. You're the one that changes. Not the past.

"There's a difference between maliciously offending somebody - on purpose - and somebody being offended by...truth. If you're offended by the truth, that's your problem. I have no obligation to not offend you if I'm speaking the truth. The truth is supposed to offend you; that's how you know you don't got it."

Tony Oliver is amazing. I once took a day-long voice acting "boot camp-esque" class taught by him at a studio. He is so knowledgeable and kind! He's extremely talented as well. Very admirable guy. I wish I could take the higher level class, but it wasn't exactly cheap and the classes are usually on the U.S. West coast nowadays...

Speaking of him working on Power Ranger, he told a funny story about how he was at Johnny Yong Bosch's Power Rangers audition. Mr. Oliver said that Johnny was "such a scared kid," lol... XD

My next subject is someone my cousin Lucia actually met at a convention and has the autograph to prove it: Scott McNeil! Scott McNeil is probably best known for his non-anime work, particularly his roles as Dinobot, Rattrap, Waspinator, and Silverbolt on Transformers: Beast Wars. (Yes, he did all 4 characters. That's how good he is.)
His anime roles include:
Duo Maxwell in Gundam Wing
Piccolo in Dragonball Z (the Ocean dub. The one that spawned the "over 9000" meme)
Koga in Inuyasha (the leader of the wolf-demons)
Hohenheim Elric in original FullMetal Alchemist anime
Ali Al-Saachez in Gundam 00
