Watching more of Digimon Xros Wars, which is already looking like it could be one of my favorite seasons

The best Digimon was the original, of course i say this only having seen digimon adventure one and two, and a bit of the third one, i forget what that one was called.

Which begs the question: What did you think it would be? (and yes, a bit wierd, but what do you want from Japanese mythology? XD )

Paranoia Agent 1-4- I watched this last night, before I found out that Satoshi Kon had died. I'd just gotten the first DVD that I'd ordered, and popped it in the dvd player. As mind-bending as it was the first time around!

*very pleased that you enjoyed it*

After re-watching Aria the Animation with my sister and mom this summer, my love for these sweet and gentle slice-of-life types was reignited. There is nothing better to watch after a long and stressful day. And, since my stress level has escalated with school starting again, I'm re-watching Natsume's Book of Friends. Three episodes in, and I remember why I love this so much, despite its many flaws. I don't think that there has been a single episode in which my eyes are still dry by the time "Natsu Yuuzora" rolls around. The dew god episode hit me especially hard this time. “Once you’re loved--once you love--you cannot just abandon itâ€

Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind--Complete -- grated at me. greatly. And it was boring. However, the base concept was cool and the music was pretty...

Wolf's Rain --Complete -- no, I did not watch the OVAs, I did not care enough so someone kindly summarized them for me. :P I found it boring when I first started it months ago, but after everyone's glowing reviews went back to it and actually enjoyed it fairly well. However, I would not watch it again and was not necessarily "impressed", just enjoyed it.

Also still following Maid-Sama!, Okamisan (though behind the airing and following the Hulu updates), Shiki, Bleach, Legend of Legendary Heroes, and Nura: Rise of the Yokai Clan. Behind on Amagami, may drop that depending, and started Claymore. . .

Awww, Wolf's Rain. Yeah. I felt the same way. I liked the way the manga ended WAY better than the anime. I probably won't ever watch it again either.

The manga, of which the movie only covers vol. 1, is supposed to be excellent.

For the record, I thought it was a good movie =).

^ Me too. Least-favorite Miyazaki movie right there. I felt like everything good in it was done better in Princess Mononoke, and I didn't even like that one much either.

I last saw Kaitou Saint Tail episode 26, and apparently that wasn't a new character. Fairly funny episode, though very Mary Sue-ish - everyone seems to fall instantly in love with Meimi :eyeroll:

OVAs!

I don't think there's anyone here who has seen Kamichu! but not the OVAs, but if there is, go watch them right now. One and two are like normal episodes, but three and four are so awesome, and the proper conclusion to the series.

The extra episodes are interspersed throughout the series: 8, 11, 13, and 16 (or 7.5, 9.5, 10.5, 12.5 depending on how you number your episodes in your head).

Akane Maniax is an awful addendum to KimiNozo that is one part parody and one part vague Muv-Luv tie-in.

Porco Rosso was a pretty neat movie. I expected it to be dumb, because, honestly, it's about a pig who is a pilot. Luckily, the fact that he was a pig was incidental and it felt like it was a movie about a fantastical pre-WWII Europe.

Mouryou no Hako was pretty good. It has a very interesting and compelling opening few episodes and a really messed up but excellent finish. The problem is its middle, where it devolves into a bunch of guys sitting around a table talking about definitions of words and Japanese folklore. More people should probably check this show out.

Mononoke was great because it focused on the only part I liked about Ayakashi: the Medicine Seller. That guy is awesome. The other obvious thing that's fantastic about Mononoke is the visual style. It's trippy and it's stylish and vivid. It's right up there with Shinbo or Yuasa-class weird visuals.

In progress with episode 3 of Cross Game. It looked interesting from the first episode...then after episode 2 things started to get pretty good. Makes me want to watch more. If there's only one thing I wished for the series was an available, good dub so I wouldn't have to read the subtitles. *sighs* Thank heavens the manga's coming out, so I can follow the story better. :3!

Caught up with Occult Academy5-7- Well, this isn't half bad. While she's a tsundere with the guy, the rest of the time she's a pretty normal, if a little short-tempered girl. And that human side to her eases the tsundere bit.

Shiki 3-8- okay, this is better than those first two eps made out. I seriously thought that this would be rather silly (the OP just doesn't have the atmosphere of Higurashi's op- hard rock IS NOT CREEPY, and the rather obvious CG into skeletons doesn't do it for me- if they'd just kept with the tune at the very end, with the raindrops and everything, it would have been much more effective). But the creep factor went up in ep 4, which I really enjoyed. While I'm not scared, it does provide enough atmosphere to keep me tense about what's going to happen.

This is pretty much word for word how I feel about the show. The piano playing in time with the water droplets is just perfectly done--but the rest of the OP isn't. The anime itself isn't as scary or disturbing, probably because I don't care for any of the characters, but it does have some great moments. Like when
The Creepy Guy is trying to claw out of his casket and the wood shavings fall into his eyes. He doesn't blink or try to turn away at all, he just leaves them there like a dead person would. That along with the fact that he can't talk because he isn't breathing are two awesome details that add so much to the story. I hope there is more like it.
I just wonder were it is going to go now after the big reveal. We have about two-thirds of the show to go, so what direction is it going to take? I am plenty curious enough to keep watching in order to find out.

^ OMGosh! I noticed that, too! I was so creeped out by that scene! It was one of the best ones that I've seen so far, and is an amazing detail for them to have done. I completely agree- while it isn't the strongest show, it has enough detail and intrigue to keep me watching to see what happens. I'm interested!
